Like many small town stores, they tend to be hidden and only known and utilized by the locals. This one in particular caters to the mid to large size farmer and meets their particular needs, but it shouldn't be overlooked by someone who passes by it daily on their way to and from the ferry (which connects Williamsburg with the "Surry Side" of the James River). I gave it five stars recognizing it doesn't have everything; it is not comparable to the bigger box stores like Tractor Supply who have thousands more shelf items and attracts the small time or weekend farmer. Farmers United is run by a co-op, and the people there provide home town service and are knowledgable about farming in general. If you have backyard chickens or goats, or dogs who always need chow, Farmers United is a great alternative. I've gone there with calving emergencies and they were able to help.
