15 mins on the phone, mostly on hold to be told they don't think we have a medical issue and won't be seen. No clue how they can diagnose over the phone, or why we pay for an insurance plan with unlimited visits when they won't see us

Today I took my dog Mia, who is pregnant, to Banfield in Sterling, Va. When I made the appointment by phone, the receptionist told me that there are about three options to find out if Mia was pregnant and she gave me prices from 100 to 300 and something dollars, so I agreed to make an appointment. When I arrived, the receptionist only gave me the most expensive option which was the x-ray, I was confused and she went to talk to the doctor and said that the doctor had told her that it was the only option, so I asked her to talk with the doctor personally instead of her being the communicator. The doctor assured me that since Mia had gotten pregnant on 5/29, the only option was x-ray, and I accepted. When they call me to pick up Mia they tell me that they found that her uterus was inflamed and that they didn't see skeletons of puppies. Additionally, they told me that I can make an appointment to have an ultrasound, and that they do not charge for it. My complaint is that they LIED saying that the only option was the x-ray to find out if Mia is pregnant and they didn't tell me about the ultrasound, which they didn't charge for. Furthermore, they wanted to make me pay more money to find out if this inflammation of the uterus was an infection or not, when they know very well that it is pregnancy because they saw it on the ultrasound. They lied to me and made me pay more than 350 dollars for something that nothing was found. This is not acceptable at all, they only look for money instead of animal care.

Terrible place. I went there because my dog was diagnosed with an abscess. They wanted to charge me $1550 to treat her. No other option. When I said no, they gave me an option to either pay out of pocket $550 for the consultation or enroll in a monthly plan for one year that covers only vaccines and pay $220 for the consultation. You kind of have no choice if you’re on a budget. They will squeeze you for money, or even try to help you finding affordable sources to treat your dog. Go to your local vet. Stay away from Banfield, they will treat you like a number. If I could give zero stars I would.

Best vet visits I’ve had in years .Thank you to Dr. George and staff for their getting my pet in same day due to an injury . Dr. George performed a detailed exam . He’s compassionate and reassuring . He took care of my pet all with a great smile . I left feeling at ease .

If I could give zero stars I would. This place specifically only cares about how much money they can take from you and nothing else.Zero empathy towards pet owners and concerns. I called to make a same day appointment for my 7mnth old puppy that is lethargic and has a reduced appetite with diarrhea. The first girl that answered the phone HANGED UP on me and the Second Lady that “helped” meLiterally told me they weren’t an ER clinic and that her doctor already has 32 pets to look after and can’t see my puppy and I would be better of calling a different clinicAnd guess what I would be doingI will be definitely taking my money my business and my puppy somewhere else that CARES!Please avoid this place!

We have been customers for 6 years and today they gave us terrible service. The girl at the front desk is an angry person, and she asks us questions that you are supposed to have a record of in your files. The truth is that they had bad attention today?

They handled Sam (our GSD) pretty well. They told me about what vaccines and services were required and which were suggested and let me make the final decision. They were very transparent.

Haven't had a bad visit yet with this location! Each visit had a friendly atmosphere, we've never waited long, and the staff have always been diligent to address our concerns. Its further for us to come to here but its worth it!

These people are terrible. They nickel and dime you, don’t listen, and it takes FORVER even WITH an appointment. My 2y/o pup was seen for being lethargic and a reduced appetite (been going on for the past 5 days). No diarrhea, no vomiting, no coughing. It took 1.5 hours after we had a scheduled appointment. Ran blood work with possible intestinal infection. Vet comes back, say, fluid, two shots for nausea, two prescriptions for food for a month and antibiotics. Seems a bit overkill when she didn’t have any other nausea or stomach issues that they want to prescribe a million different things that would have cost us over $700. I told them to give her fluids and antibiotics….still $475 by the time we left after 1.5 hours. Go elsewhere with a vet that doesn’t just try and automatically prescribe a million things in order to make $$. The vet was Dr. Johnson and I don’t recommend her AT ALL.

Dr. Jawdat is the veterinarian who has knowledge, confidence, and compassion. He has superior communication skills-- his instructions are clear and easy to follow. He is the best veterinarian in the Banfield Hospital system.
