We have stayed at Pembroke Springs Retreat three times now and are looking to go back again. I’ve gone with friends and some of them are now making their ton treks out there. Lisa is an amazing host, she is funny and very attentive. We always enjoy the rooms and getting to wear the Japanese robes. The Onsen baths are the highlight of the retreat and we all took a few trips to them. You feel so refreshed and alive when afterwards. There is hiking, a tennis court, and spectacular views. I can’t recommend it enough.

Pembroke is such an amazing, utterly relaxing, and simply beautiful resort. It's only a stones throw way from DC area. If you need a getaway from the hustle and bustle definitely check out this place. And the owners are absolutely wonderful people.

My family has been gathering at Pembroke Springs Retreat at Thanksgiving for three years now and find it to be a remarkable place -- from the trails to the Japanese onsen in the basement. It is a wonderful place to be with friends and family and relax. The family that manages the property could note be nicer -- attentive, but respectful of privacy.

A close group of friends and I stayed at the Pembroke Springs Retreat a few months ago and it was a dream! Everyone enjoyed the unique rooms and getting to wear the Japanese-style robes. Of course the baths were the highlight of the stay and we all spent as much time as we could getting a soak in throughout our time there. We got to hike and play on the tennis court which was a fun way to stay active during the otherwise blissfully relaxing objective of the trip. Lisa was an amazing host--she was attentive to our needs and also very respectable of our privacy. We ordered dinner and breakfast for part of the trip, which was delicious and a fun away to start the stay. Our only regret is we didn't stay longer. Our group hopes to make an annual sojourn to Pembroke!

My friends and I came for a weekend getaway and had an amazing time. We were lucky to have beautiful weather to enjoy the retreat, which is filled with awesome hiking trails (extremely well-marked and well-kept!).Each room is incredibly unique and feels special, and the baths were so relaxing. Lisa was extremely welcoming and we all loved the food prepared by the family - that miso eggplant still haunts my dreams :'). Would highly recommend!

My spouse and I enjoyed a two-night stay, during which we indulged in their well-crafted meal plan. We took particular delight in their innovative blend of Western and Japanese cuisine. The traditional Japanese-style baths offered great relaxation, complemented by the constant warmth and hospitality of the owner.

My friends and I did a two night retreat at Pembroke and had an AMAZING time. The house is clean and comfortable, and we immediately felt right at home. The surrounding land is stunning (views of the mountains right out the central dining room’s windows!) and we really enjoyed hiking the trails on the property and spending time outdoors. The baths are incredibly relaxing and beautiful, to the point where we were squeezing in 3+ trips to the onsen a day to really take advantage of it.Our group did an “unplugged”/no phones trip by choice and we all loved how it affected the trip. There was more than enough to do and explore at Pembroke, and it heightened the bond between our whole group. This was the perfect place to unplug, unwind, and really let ourselves relax and have fun. We all agree that this place is incredibly special, and this trip meant so SO much to us all.Lastly, Lisa was amazing— friendly, responsive, and a great host. You can tell she and her family take great care of -and put a lot of love into- the house and surrounding land. We are already trying to figure out when we can make it back- and next time it’ll be a longer stay for sure!! <3(I’ll be back with pics once we get our disposable cameras developed! :)

A hidden gem nestled in an absolutely gorgeous and peaceful forest. The property is lovingly taken care of, the owners are friendly and respectful. The baths are heavenly, and the house itself was charming and clean. Would love to return with friends for a longer stay!

Our stay at Pembroke Springs was so incredible and special! This family-run retreat is so clearly well loved and the energy can be found in every walkway and room and plant. Each room is adorned with beautiful art and our stay was so comfortable; Lisa was extremely helpful and kind and made us feel really welcome. Had an amazing time hiking on the 175 acres of land, petting the family's CUTE!! dogs, grilling, and using the property's amazing onsens; we will definitely be back! Seriously one of my favorite experiences ever, without a doubt I think Pembroke Springs is one of the most beautiful places in the country.

Spent a few magical days at Pembroke Springs with 8 other close friends celebrating a birthday and friendship ? we all turned off our phones & spent quality time in the beautiful baths (read: all of us jumping in together every few hours) walking the number of trails, and just enjoying the lovely house!! Lisa and Taeko made us feel right at home like part of the family, and their dogs Miso and Kuma joined us on hikes and lazing about in the sun ? Thank you so much!!can't say enough how special this place is. teeming with precious flora and fauna everywhere you look!! a foraging dream! we came across a rattlesnake on a walk and it was very scary & also very cool haha. pembroke springs is amazing and I can't wait to return in the future :^) come here if you want to relax and revel in both the natural beauty of the environment and care that the Floyd family has carefully cultivated with love and kindness ??

Went to Pembroke Springs with a group of friends for a weekend birthday getaway. The location is remote enough to feel like you have your own hideaway but about 30 minutes away from great dinning as well. The commercial kitchen can be intimidating but my is it convenient! The baths are good for 4 adults to sit comfortably and a few more if you're good friends.The hostess was very helpful but let us be by ourselves to enjoy the resort. We hiked the trails which were a nice length and well marked. Most definitely would recommend renting the place out with your friend group!
