About Harry F. Byrd, Sr. Visitor Center
The Harry F. Byrd, Sr. Visitor Center is located at the top of the mountain in a good location, right next to Big Meadows Campground and across from the Big Meadow. It is a large visitor center with a nice walk-through exhibit about how Shenandoah National Park came to be, presenting the history in a continuous stream of audio and visual input. Knowledgeable rangers provide enthusiastic and detailed explanations about hiking trails, wildlife exhibits, and the park's history. The center includes a theater with a movie, a gift shop with a penny press, and clean, heated restrooms. Visitors can find picnic tables, electric vehicle chargers, and a gas station. It is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. The center provides a very informative stop that adds to the appreciation and understanding of the unique national park, with access to multiple hiking trails. A small restaurant next door serves delicious burgers. Parking can be difficult when crowded.

The visitor center in good location. When I was visiting there in winter cold day(14F), the rest room was heated, I felt so peace of mind at there.
