Not even two weeks before thanksgiving and they are out of pumpkin pies. I guess I will do my holiday shopping at Safeway.

The employees are awesome. The whole pharmacy team has been so helpful and caring. The floor employees are all very friendly and helpful too. I cannot say enough how much I love the people here.

They usually can fill your prescriptions by the next day if not that day.

Ever since the state imposed a charge on plastic bags, it almost seems as though the cashiers are trying to make the bagging process with paper as slow as possible. I have never seen a more slothlike work ethic in my life. I raised it with the manager, who smiled and simply said they can't do anything about it because it's the state. She did not at all address the issue with speed except to say that she expected to get better. Putting food in bags is not rocket science. I bagged my own groceries, to avoid standing there for an hour, and did it three times faster. I spoke with an employee who said that there is no retraining with paper. So I don't think they are actually taking the situation seriously at all, or care about the speed. I feel like it's an intentional move to get us to buy plastic. Overall the service is fine and the quality is good. But the bagging process is cripplingly slow.

This Giant is pretty nice. The entrance is inside an indoor plaza. Parking was easy and plentiful. EVERYTHING was very well stocked which is worth the four stars alone in these times. The store seemed clean and staff was friendly and helpful. I happened to be nearby which is why I stopped in, and if I find myself around this way again I'd stop here to do some quick shopping.

I called the pharmacy and the immediate message is an extremely long sales pitch on COVID shots without any option to press a number for prescription refills. (The message mentions an option to refill via the website, but there are no links or buttons that provide that service.) Eventually an option to press "0" to talk to a representative led me to an option to press for refills. Please revamp your voice message so customers can get to the service they need immediately.

I will not be going back to Giant Pharmacy (Huntsman Blvd. Springfield VA). They are so disorganized. I have been given the wrong prescription (controlled substance before). They waste so much of my time.

I don't think they are entirely competent. I went to get an Rx filled. I first was told that they didn't have enough and they would have to send it to another Giant. Then I was told they didn't have any, and the reason behind the wrong info was that they don't update their inventory very often. Nice. They told me they would have it three days later, and I would need to wait. What sick person can wait 3 days for medicine? I asked for confirmation if they could send it to another Giant pharmacy, and they said no because it was a controlled substance. So I'm inconvenienced because Giant pharmacy Huntsman can't get their act together, update their inventory, and order the necessary meds. This is not the first time this has happened, and I would say lately, it has been more often than not that they have been out of whatever. This predates COVID, so it is not a supply chain issue. We're having everything transferred to CVS.

Rude practitioner at this Giant Pharmacy store. Yesterday evening, my wife and I went to this pharmacy store for my wife’s second dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Before the trip, I reminded her to check the vial before the vaccine was injected. When I received the shots elsewhere in a big center back in April the practitioner proactively showed me the vial with label, though she was crazily busy with long lines of people waiting for their shots (since April had a vaccine rush). As planned, my wife requested to see the vial. Surprisingly, this request greatly annoyed the nurse/pharmacist. “Why do you want to see the vial?” asked the pharmacist, eyebrow raised and eyes open wide. My wife was surprised but kept calm, explaining that she had never seen a COVID-19 vaccine vial. The pharmacist showed the vial. My wife could not see it very well, so she took hold of the vial to get a closer look.
After my wife shared her experience with me, I approached the pharmacist to clarify that requesting to see the vial was a valid request. Our request has nothing to do with trust. If we don’t trust her, we wouldn’t go there. It is just a little due diligence on our side, since checking this is so quick and easy. A lot of practitioners in places we visited in the past would proactively show vial labels to us. When I started talking with her, the pharmacist interrupted me and started to blame my wife for grabbing the vial, which, according to her, forced her to quit using the vial due to a contamination concern. After my wife another patient was there, possibly for a COVID-19 shot. My wife did not see the pharmacist open another vial. Furthermore, virtually nothing was really wasted, because the time was past 7:30 pm already and the vaccination for the day stopped at 7:30 pm. The vial had to be discarded anyway after being opened for 6 hours.
After her talk, I finally got a chance to raise my points. She tried to avoid further conservation by citing that she was busy and had limited time and energy to argue further. Tired? Maybe, but when she was arguing, she was very energetic. Busy? Maybe, but when she was trying to make a point she did not rush at all.
The pharmacist also listed other reasons such as out of 5000+ patients, my wife was the first to request this; she was busy and tired when giving the shot; and it was Giant Pharmacy’s standard not to ask the patients for checking the vial. Well, all of these may be true, but none can excuse her from her behavior. A rare request is not necessarily an illegitimate one; being busy and tired should not lead to rudeness (take one day off please if you are tired); keeping the Giant standard is OK, but we were not suggesting her to show the vial proactively; we simply hope that she could calmly show the vial upon request.
Though not every practitioner proactively shows vials to patients, quite a lot of practitioners do. This is good practice. Practitioners do their best to avoid mistakes and usually their chance of mistakes is slim, but it does not hurt to offer patients a chance to double check. In fact, there is a recent report about a 4-year old being given the wrong shot (COVID-19 shot, which has not been approved for kids under 5 yet, instead of a flu vaccine that was intended to be given).
I started my conversation in a logical and civilized way, and this should have been met with a better reaction than her flawed defense and belligerence. During the whole conservation, she kept defending herself and blaming my wife and showed zero sense of guilt. After she took a clear majority of time and before we were able to fully express our points, she told us she was very busy and hoped the conversation could end there. This level of lowness really shocked us.
This review is for the Giant Pharmacy. We still appreciate the kindness of many other Giant’s employees. I forgot to take home a few checked-out bags. When I went back for them, one employee enthusiastically assisted me.

Not a very good selection in that if you're looking for anything a little out of the ordinary, you can forget it. But it has most everything you need and usually has good sales. Ample parking and the lines aren't too long. They even have a large self-checkout area. The employees are the nicest people you'll ever meet in retail.

Produce selection constantly lacking and poor quality. Overpriced for what's available
