We had a wonderful New Year’s Eve at Belle Meade. The hosts went above and beyond, helping us find restaurants and providing local information. Breakfast was delicious, the rooms were charming, clean and well appointed. They even mailed back a belt I forgot for no charge!Rooms: Charming roomsFood & drinks: Great breakfast and coffee

If you're looking to hike Old Rag, this is the place for you! Not only is the property gorgeous, but it is 10 minutes from the trailhead. We stayed in the Comfrey Cottage and enjoyed our night at Belle Meade B&B! Susan and Mike were extremely hospitable and sent us off with a brown bag breakfast and coffee before our hike (you can also have breakfast served at the house if you prefer) and some tips for the trail. After a long day of driving to Shenandoah and hiking, we were able to swim in the huge pool and then take in the sunset over the property. We even had Buster, one of their adorable pups, walk around with us while we explored the property. We would love to come back, and we highly recommend booking for your next Shenandoah adventure!Nearby activities: Old Rag trailhead was a ten minute drive and many other beautiful Shenandoah National Park hikes were only a few minutes away.

We can not recommend this place enough!!!! We stayed for several days and can’t wait to return. Susan and Mike are the most amazing hosts. They have so many interesting stories— they’re a joy to be around. Breakfast is served every morning at 8:30 around the table. It is delicious and fresh from the farm. The property is unbeatable. Do yourself a favor and stay here!

We came here in the early November, and the overall experience was great. The place was neat and clean, and it had a wonderful view of the mountains. The breakfast was served at 8:30am with an option to pack a brown bag breakfast for an early hike, and customers can opt in for a brown bag lunch as well. Although the wifi was not working well in the second floor & the window screens should be cleaned and/or replaced with a new one, it’s still a pretty decent place to stay around this area. Overall, we had a great experience here! (Follow me on IG ➡️ miss_dawang)

This bed and breakfast was great! Susan was fantastic, the hospitality was phenomenal. The breakfast was great. You get old school bed and breakfast vibes out on the farm. It's so quiet and peaceful. Sitting in the jacuzzi after a long multi day hike was great. I didn't get the gentleman's name who helped get us set up with the jacuzzi put thank you. The next time I'm out in shenandoah and need a room this will be my go to, it was nice chatting with Susan about how much DC has changed.

Comfortable, friendly, great food at a B&B close to Old Rag, Sperryville and Little Washington.

I had the immense pleasure of staying two nights at Belle Meade Bed and Breakfast in Sperryville, Virginia, which is a sprawling estate with B&B, swimming pool, hot tub, pond, rolling hills, woodlands, and horse pastures, as well as a school, summer camp, and greenhouse. Belle Meade is 200 year old house that's gone through many evolutions and changes, but it's more than a five room bed and breakfast now, as it's more of a community fixture, where you will find more than a simple night stay. Belle Meade is an enchanting place with a brilliant backdrop of the Shenandoah mountains, which offers stunning views from every window, and any room. Daily, farm-fresh cuisine is offered in the main house, where four of the five bedrooms are located. Each room boasts traditional pieces, antiques, and private bath. The odd one out is the Comfrey Cottage, which was an outdoor wash house that's been restored into a private room mere feet from the swimming pool.I was blessed to stay in the Comfrey Cottage, which has a queen bed, antique sink, private bath, bookcase, and private porch in back. I found Belle Meade to be a peaceful getaway, and among one of my favorite establishments from my travels. Not only was it cathartic and private, but the slow relaxed pace of the farm seemed to come over me and it gave me the chance to slow down for a day so as to catch my breath and to simply enjoy the onsite amenities. After a busy two years of raising my first child and running a thriving herbalism business, all the while enduring a confusing pandemic that was scary at times, it was just what I needed. Comfrey Cottage treated me well, as I slept like a baby in the comfortable bed, enjoying a quiet night with no disturbances, as well as perhaps the best water pressure ever in the shower, to a thoroughly enjoyable time watching the sun set over the mountains from the private deck. The innkeepers and owners, Susan and Mike, were lovely and kind hosts who were enjoyable to talk with, knowledgeable, and passionate about their lifestyle, who I found rather inspiring. They live a life many dream of but few have the opportunity to do, and they surely make the most of it. Every morning, they provided a delicious breakfast in the main house. The first morning, local sausage patties were served with waffles and fruit. The local sausage was stellar! The second morning, I was served an omelet with sausage, kale, mushrooms and potato and my, oh my, it was so good. I am still dreaming of another bite. Nearby Sperryville offered some culinary treats and fantastic dining, and the area has a lot of nature-inspired drives well worth experiencing, and if you want to use Belle Meade as your jumping off point for Shenandoah, it's a short 20 minute drive to the entrance.

We were looking for a new family experience and I knew this would be the perfect vacation to enjoy without the use of electronics. We pulled up to this beautiful victorian home with 138 acres of absolute beauty. The views were breathtaking. We were greeted by the lovely farm dogs, Dandelion and Buster. They loved our kids and followed us everywhere, which the kids just ate up!We were hesitant to book a B&B with kids, but took the leap of faith and were pleasantly surprised at how amazing Susan and Mike were with our kids. My son and daughter loved assisting with farm chores and collecting eggs from the chicken coups. We learned so much from Mike. Susan was delightful with our kids and even allowed our daughter to assist with making breakfast. This meant the world to my kids and to my husband and I. The Red Bud room was perfect for our family of four. We enjoyed every bite of our amazing breakfast before we explored the farm, canoed and hiked for the day.We were sad to leave and wished we were able to stay for more time. We will definitely be back again very soon as my kids can't wait to go back and visit their new friends (Dandelion, Buster, Turtle and all the rest of the farm animals). Please say hi, from Hailey, Ben, Lauren and Gerald!

We just returned from 3 nights at Belle Meade B and B and can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was. We stayed in the cottage, which is a bedroom and bath with a porch on both sides and wonderful mountain and farm views. We had a good time watching the turkeys running in the field. And a hot tub and large pool out the back (though the pool was too cold for me in late October, of course). The bed was comfortable and amenities were high quality (thick robes, Dr. Bronner's soap, etc). I slept wonderfully well in the quiet. This is also the only B&B I've ever stayed at where the hosts came and tidied the room every day. The only other advantage/drawback (depending on your outlook) is the lack of cell coverage and the weak wifi signal. We had no problem with that, especially because you can always go into the main house and get a strong wifi signal. We did that for a "couldn't miss" meeting one evening and enjoyed sitting in the parlor and checking out the books and rocking chairs. Breakfast was stellar, all 3 mornings. One morning, the hosts (Susan and Mike) made whole-grain waffles using flour Susan had just milled from grain. With local apples baked for the top, a plate of fresh fruit (some from their garden), and a side of bacon. Another morning, breakfast came accompanied by still-warm bran/ginger/whole-grain muffins. And a bowl of local apples was always out. Which brings me to the best part of Belle Meade: Susan and Mike. They are wonderful people with a ton of accumulated knowledge about a wide variety of topics. They were great at pointing us to hikes and bike rides that were beautiful but also within our capacity (we're 67 and 76) and also recommending places to eat and visit. We went to "Flavor on Main" in Culpeper, which was great and "Blue Door Kitchen and Inn" in Flint Hill, which was really special. Staying at a B&B can sometimes feel awkward, since you're in someone else's home. But Susan and Mike made us feel right at home. We'll be back!

This was our second time staying at this lovely B&B. Excellent scenery, breakfasts were outstanding, and there's plenty of coffee. Our hostess was awesome the whole weekend. Our bed was a bit firm, but that suits me just fine. Our room and private bathroom were very clean and offered an excellent sunrise view, and the sunsets were gorgeous sitting out back poolside. Plenty of hot water in the morning. Can't wait to go back.
