Worst doctor I’ve ever been to told them multiple times I need them to look at my throat because of the way it’s been feeling they called me yesterday said I could not come inside swabbed me for Covid and strep and that’s it when I was getting swabbed the lady was extremely rude for absolutely no reason and I told them I need them to actually look at my throat because I feel something more serious was going on she was supposed to call me today at 9am it’s currently 1pm and I’m still waiting, never going back place should just be shut down honestly it’s not doing any good for anyone

Never go to this place. I was taking a medication safely with no side effects for 20 years. Dr Hemphill decided that to change it now i am likely going to the emergency room for the side effects of the new medication. She totally ignored everything thing i said and my history of success on previous medication. Stay away from this place at all costs.

Dr Hemphill is very thorough and kind. She takes her time with me and answers all the questions I have. I have also found that the nurses and office staff are always very professional and kind as well. We are very fortunate to have them serving us locally and you couldn’t ask for a better group of health care providers.

I have been going to the Carilion Shawsville office to see Dr. Hemphill for several years now.I always feel like she takes time to talk to me about all of my health issues, and I do not feel like I am being rushed through like other offices.Other offices seem to rush you through and only care about "How do you plan to make your copay?"; but the doctors here really care about their patients.

Dr. Hemphill and the entire office is basically useless. She doesn't help at all and can be quite patronizing and condescending. The nurses are rude also. Will be moving to another family doctor

Dr Leatherland refused to refill my blood pressure meds, until I made an appt. I stated that I was waiting for my insurance to kick in, to make one. Thank God the pharmacy refilled a few to hold me over. Then, at one appt, I asked to be tested for HIV. She asked me, if I had a new partner. It should've mattered if I had, or hadn't. When a patient asks for that test, you as a Doctor test them! I do not recommend her as a Doctor for anyone!

this doctors office is horrible, They do not care about there patients me and my whole family went there for years until they got new doctors my grandfather has bad breathing issues asthma and copd and needs his inhalers for work, he ran out of refills and was told he had to make an appointment to get them when he's been taking the same breathing mess for 30 years, So we call to make an appointment and they said it would be 2 weeks due to covid and that he couldn't get his refills until then, so needless to say we had to go to the emergency room because he couldn't breath because his doctor refused a medication he's been on half his life until he made his yearly appointment he could have died they are a joke

Excellent doctors and takes no time to get in and out **EDIT: Since Dr. Leatherland is no longer with this practice and a nurse practitioner took over her position I would not recommend this lady to anyone with children.

I really miss Dr. Mary Leatherland. She was the best for me with ALL my healthcare needs. But since she retired I have been there twice, both times highly disappointing. Left untreated, told to go to a different Doctor, or go to the ER. Total frustration.
