It never fails that when I’m in a pinch Scottsville Bee Supply has what I need! Kimberly always takes her time to help you get exactly what you need and steers you in the right direction. She is very knowledgeable about bees and helps me keep my bees Happy. They also have all kinds of home decor, books, different kinds of honey and so much more, so there is something for my wife to shop for while I’m shopping for my bees. This is the best bee supply store in Central Virginia! Scottesville has a lot of great shops to spend the day in so even if you live an hour away it’s worth the drive. Thanks again for all you do, Clay

I live in Culpeper and still travel to Scottsville to patronize Scottsville Supply Company. The owners are very friendly, knowledgeable and the prices are very competitive.I made a mistake ordering on the website and paid for pickup. When I arrived they informed me that buying in bulk was cheaper and they adjusted the order and gave me a $100 refund that I promptly used to buy more equipment. It's hard to find ethical and honest businesses these days. They didn't have to do that but they did.

This establishment does seem to need some help but they work hard to ensure they are providing products to help other beekeepers be successful. They give advice on the fly and also offers classes for new and experienced beekeepers.

I love this store. The owner is knowledgeable and helpful. She goes out of her way to share her bee wisdom with her customers. She always has what I need whether woodware or charming locally made gifts. Her classes are excellent and thorough.

Welcoming store environment, with a wide variety of items. Both beekeepers and fans of local small business will love this store. The owner is very knowledgeable, and takes care to make sure customers have the information they need to successfully raise bees (even a newbie like me). I ordered a bee jacket from the store recently, and the owner called me promptly when it came in. If you are not a beekeeper, half the store is devoted to gift and craft items, many of which are bee or honey related - these gifts are largely from local crafters. Check them out, there are some great gift items on the shelves.

Online buyer bewareInstead of buying from large online supplier, I wanted to buy local. Drove 4 hours round trip, to pick up order placed and paid for online - well in advance of the "spring beekeeping supply rush" that happens at the last minute. Arrive to stand in line. While in line, gentleman being helped by store clerk.. really obvious he was a really local beekeeper that they knew real well. He was ordering his stuff while there and paid cash for his order. One of the items he got was several hive boxes full of assembled frames. Just happened to be the same size frames I had ordered and paid for online several weeks before (to insure they would have in stock when the time came to pick up...). When I get helped next, I'm told they're out of the assembled frames I had already paid for and all they have are the frames I would have to assemble myself! WOW! They sold the items I ordered, weeks in advance to insure they would have in stock, to someone they knew, literally right in front of me! I will never make that drive again. Save yourself time, money and hassle, order from big box supplier. Can't believe I'm saying that, but to earn my honoring of local businesses, they need to honor those customers that choose to use their service. Svottsville seems more concerned with keeping local friends happy.

Ordered Frame feeders mid-September and now on Oct 7th have not heard a word about this order. A phone call revealed that they just got the feeders in. Well, my window mom opportunity to open my hives this fall is tomorrow and they can’t overnight.Suggest anyone seeing this review find a different vendor. What’s a joke of a company!

I ordered a varroa mite test kit listed as "in stock" as well as some formic pro 10 days ago. I got a call today telling me that the mite test kit was actually on backorder and they had no idea when they might be available. I just checked the website and it still says the mite test kit is "in stock". I wound up getting a refund of the test kit but kept the formic pro on the order and found out I still had over $10 shipping bill for the formic pro! What a rip off! One of the main reasons I ordered from this company was that the kit was "in stock" and that the total shipping appeared more reasonable for both items. BUYER BEWARE!

Wonderful experience and loved the beginning beekeeper class. For anyone who saw my previous very poor review stating my friends were yelled at and quality was awful; I accidentally posted that review under scottsville supply co and it was fully meant for Shenandoah bee supply. Apologies to the owner!!!! Scottsville supply co is fantastic

This place is great. Kimberly was fantastic. I know absolutely nothing about bee keeping but really interested in doing it. Stopped by on a whim today. Kimberly didn’t try to sell me at all. She answered all of my questions and even talked me out of buying a Nuc because she could tell I wasn’t sure whether to go the Nuc or Package route. Signed up for a beginners class with her and will decide after. Great people here and when I return they will get my business with bees and equipment.

This store has gone through some changes in the last year; new owner, new location (due to a bad storm). They’re still a great place to get all your beekeeping supplies, as well as cute gifts and bee/honey themed tchotchkes. They also carry a great selection of local honeys!
