My husband, Chris, spends much time researching when shopping for any new home appliance. When our 19 year old washer and dryer bit the dust, and after a visit to Doug’s store, Chris knew who to turn to. He appreciated the hometown customer service, and decided to invest in a Speed Queen washer and dryer. It was easy to install and our clothes feel cleaner than they have in 19 years! Doug’s Maytag of Scottsville, VA will definitely be our appliance go to.

I want to say a huge thank you to Doug for helping out when in need. I never thought to ask them about used appliances, but got mine from them and it works like a charm! No more laundry mat for me! I am ever so grateful. If you get a chance definitely check them out first for all your appliance needs, new or used. Thanks again!!

This review cost me $80. We had previously purchased a dishwasher from them and had a good experience and afterwards my father purchased the same dishwasher and had a similar experience. It turns out that we were lucky things worked. This time our washing machine broke and I was away. My wife was comfortable with our previous experience and journeyed all the way down to Scottsville to purchase a new one. They only had a floor model available which was fine so we bought it. This was on 11/21, the week of Thanksgiving, and delivery was scheduled for 11/28. The washing machine broke on the first load. Wife called and technicians came out on 11/29. The wiring harness was completely broken off the bottom and another issue. Parts order and technicians came back on 12/6 to 'fix' machine but found other problems. I had had enough, called and talked to Doug and he offered another machine which could be delivered the following week or a refund. I took the refund since I was not going to wait for them and he didn't really sound concerned to resolve this issue quickly and since they either broke it during delivery or they just installed a broken machine and left us to deal with it I didn't want to deal with them again. Lowes had the same washer for the same price with free delivery. My family is longer going to go out of their way to support this business and will instead support the local big box store. Refunded the price for the washer but not the $80 since, "they delivered and installed it." Thanks for delivering and installing a broken washing machine and charging me $80. It has been an pleasure and I hope this review helps!

Outstanding service and professionalism from Steve and the response team. Same day service, diagnosis and solution. Steve is a teacher and resolved everything efficiently and we appreciate the team of Doug's Maytag! Thank you!

Our washer stopped working. Doug’s Maytag came out last Wednesday (5/25) found the problem and ordered the parts. Fixed it today (5/31) Great service and great price. Definitely will be recommending to others.

I ordered a Speed Queen Dryer from here and after having it 2 weeks, it broke (the thermal heater went out). They did bring me a new dryer per my request and didn't try to fix this one as they initially wanted to do. That is why I am giving them 2 stars vs. 1 star. Then, my washer wouldn't work after the installation of the dryer and come to find out the workers had cut off the water supply line to the washer and not corrected it prior to leaving. It was an easy fix and I'm grateful I didn't have to pay for that advice. A couple months later, my washer (Maytag) was acting up, becoming un-level and not able to complete a cycle. I called this company to come and assess. The appointment was rescheduled twice for issues on their end and the day of the final appointment, the time frame was moved and the employee showed up 30 min after the prolonged timeframe. He was a nice individual, but literally walked in, looked at my washer and told me that the bearings needed replacing and that it wouldn't be worth spending my money for the "fix" but rather on a new machine. I appreciated that advice. This visit was 5 minutes in total and the cost was $85 dollars (after 2 cancelled appointments and a late showing to this one). I would have considered getting a Speed Queen washer from here but absolutely not now. I will take my business elsewhere.

Dougs is the best. I called for service and it was handled immediately . I also bought my dishwasher from them and it was no hassle like I've had with Lowes

I have never been down to their store, but I have a now Dead Fridge in my kitchen, and none of the Big Box stores had anything that I would consider. Doug spent at least 30+ minutes on the phone with me, and found exactly what I was looking for in his inventory, without us having to wait 2 or 3 weeks for delivery! And then he was able to fit me in for an install on Monday! (This is Friday at Noon!) YAY! Great Service, Good Job Outta Doug, and I'm THRILLED that my $$$s go to a local Independent Shop. Win Win all around! They will be getting more of my business going forward.

Great customer service, and fast delivery for an in stock appliance. The big box stores wanted three weeks for delivery to our area, and when your fridge is out, that’s way too long. Happy to support a local business, and will go to Doug’s for any future appliance purchases.

I will never do business with this company again! After waiting 2 weeks for my appointment, I called there the day of the appointment, only to be told that it was being canceled. They never even called to tell me! Then, I was told that the next available appointment was another week and a 1/2 out! By the end of the phone call, the scheduler/owner was yelling at me and told me that, a year ago, I would be happy if her employees had COVID and she was cancelling the appointment. WHAT?! Never, ever will I do business with this company again!

I have had Doug's Maytag repair out to service my washing machine twice. They told me the reason it was jumping and bucking across the floor was that the motor was going bad, and I should replace it. So I bought a new washer from them--for $800 plus delivery and installation--and the new washer does exactly the same thing. I'm disappointed in the service and in the follow-through by the company. I'm all for buying local, but not if the service is poor.

When I needed my Maytag washing machine repaired, I really thought a locally owned appliance center would be the way to go. I do like to support local businesses instead of big box stores. I was so very wrong. I was understanding about the long wait time to get a serviceman out. We are in a pandemic after all and people are repairing, not buying new. The wait for the parts to be ordered wasn't bad. BUT....the repairman's diagnosis must have been wrong. After installing the new parts, the machine had the exact same problem as before--spinning slowly and leaving my clothes sopping wet. NO improvement whatsoever. For that, they expected me to pay the full bill. I wouldn't have minded if they'd fixed the machine, but they didn't. I tried to think of what might be a fair solution. After all, they did order parts. The technician had told me that in all his 21 years of repairing machines, he'd never seen those parts go bad before. So I knew they would be out the cost of the parts and not able to use them on anyone else's machine. I called the office and offered to pay for the cost of the parts, but not the cost of the repair since I still had a non-functioning machine. Not only did they not offer to try other solutions to fix it, but I felt like they were trying to steer me towards buying a new machine from them. And then came the final insult. When I offered what I thought was a fair solution, they accused me of LYING to them, insinuating that they had fixed my machine and I just didn't want to pay the bill. I am an honest person and have rarely been so insulted in my life. Kelly said if I wasn't going to pay the entire bill, they wanted their parts back to use on other peoples' machines (see above about the repairman saying that was the first time he'd ever replaced those particular parts in 21 years of servicing machines--no, they did not need those parts for another machine. Unlikely they ever will). Fortunately, I still had the old parts, which had nothing wrong with them. In the end, they chose to send the repairman out again ($120 service call) to take back their parts ($40) because they thought I was lying to them. The fact that I was willing to let them take back their parts should have been a clue to them that I wasn't lying. Oh, and they insisted I pay the $70 diagnostic fee. I paid it rather than keep hassling with them, but I will never deal with them again. So here I sit, three months later (I took a few weeks to calm down so as to write as fair a review as possible), out $70 and still with a broken machine. Overall, I think this is the worst experience I have ever had dealing with a company to get something repaired. From the misdiagnosis, to accusing me of lying to them, to insisting on taking back their parts even though those parts are useless to them and it cost them more to take the parts back than what they cost (I guess they had to take the parts back just to prove to themselves that I wasn't lying to them), this whole experience has left me with an ugly feeling. I do hope I haven't gotten the repairman in trouble with this review. He was doing his best. My problem is primarily with the office personnel and with being accused of lying.
