The principal at this school Dr. Mizel should not have been hired for this position. He is a mess. The words that come out his face should not be said to people's children. The things he says to these kids are beyond me. He told the students in a Honor roll/scholar roll assembly "You think you're going get a job talking like slave". How was that statement uplifting kids in a positive way or letting the kids know you are proud of them for the achievements for the nine weeks. He acts like a queen from the projects. Why are you giving Mr Clarke (Lean on Me) at a Henrico County Middle School. You need to take that attitude to the City Schools so they can work your set. You are a bully and you abuse your power.

Yesterday (10/27/22) I laid witness to the most un-sportsmanship like, girls, basketball game in recent years. I attended the Elko Middle School final Girl's basketball game against Moody Middle School. Elko's students, staff, coaches and parents acted in such an unbecoming manner. It was truly disheartening. The parents who are supposed to instill better values, being the worse of the bunch, to the point Elko received a technical and they escorted a grandmother from the gym for dancing on the court. As parents, grandparents, family member's they should be ashamed, what are they/we teaching these teens. One always has distaste for the ref's/ump's, but everyone says their peace and moves on...sometimes we forget their only human. But to see the parents encourage their kids to disregard the sportsmanship code, to act as it's ok to push and shove the other team around in a "bullying" manner, total disgrace. The school staff/administrators and coaches standing by watching it happen and not saying a word until the ref's encouraged them too. Shame on you Elko, these are kids, all of them, both sides. Your instilling hate on both sides, why is that ok with you? It's no wonder things in the "grown-up" world are scary for these kids. Everyone around them, who are supposed to protect them, are constantly letting them down. Now, all these kids, visiting parents and family members will remember about your school is just how "ugly" and hateful you are to anyone who visits your school!!! this wasn't friendly rivalry or competition this was truly shameful. What a letdown Elko, what a letdown :(

It's a new school with great helpful staff. They really do care about our children and us. My daughter graduated their and did excellent. My younger son is in 6th grade and has had honor roll the entire time of going here and elementary!!!

I’m currently still in this school, I loathe it.First off you never learn, most students don’t respect teachers. In my second period class we (as a class) pretty much has an administrator in that class EVERYDAY!!! That’s the only way for the students to shut up if someone else is in the classroom ?

Good school, most of the teachers are engaging and very helpful with keeping parents and students updated with progressive. Also, teachers make time to help tutor students when needed. The school is very focused on anti-bulling. They have during and after school programs to promote anti-bulling. They have a large variety of after school activities and athletic programs. Including band, gymnastics, soccer, tennis, baseball, softball, football, cheerleading, dance, yearly talent show, school dances and many more. The staff is very helpful and prompt with any issues that may occur, finding favorable solutions.

They want to enforce chewing gum being allowed in the school but will not enforce their “no tolerance bullying policy” it laughable

Wish I was still at Binford. The teachers are so hard to pay attention to, they're so boring, and their teaching methods are difficult to understand.
