We have been there for tires on a couple different vehicles. We have had great service each time. Lately we had an issue with a new tire damage. They worked with us and got a new tire on my car same day. Al up front has been great to work with on each occasion

Been going to Thompson Tire in Salem for about 17 years for all kinds of work on our 4 cars, and for all oil changes, tires and inspections. They always did a great job for a reasonable price. They changed owners and it's different now. There was a negative atmosphere the last couple times I went there. The findings of an annual car inspection in early 2024 were ridiculous. The car definitely needed work, but 2 other establishments' inspectors didn't agree with the severity of issues Thompson listed. Changing shops to resolve that saved a couple thousand dollars in that instance. Thompson honored a warranty on tires purchased there, and I like the option to leave my car after hours using a key drop-box. I haven't had car repairs done since owners changed, so I don't know if they still do quality work at a reasonable price. I changed my rating from 5 to 4 stars. I now go elsewhere for oil changes for a better price and inspections for obvious reasons, but will consider Thompson for future tire needs. Not sure yet if I'll go back there for car repairs, except the location is very convenient for me.

Previously gave a five star review. Been going here for at least 8 years. It seems there was a change in mgmt/ownership and things went downhill quick. Recently took my vehicle in for inspection and they kept it for an entire week. I finally went to pick it up, even though no one called to say it was ready. When I got there, the inspection was failed due to some rust, muffler, wipers, and brake light. I just spent $400 in tires there a few months prior. They charged $50 for a plug. Somehow they didn't notice the rust on my frame or muffler when I got my tires or during any previous inspections? I was charged for an oil change I did not ask for and did not need. All of this but they somehow missed the corrosion on my battery and detached grounding wire?? So basically, I paid $230 for a bulb, plug, wipers, and failed inspection. Maybe if they noticed problems as they occurred or at least didn't provide a service I didn't request, I could've given a better review. I'm very disappointed at the acute decrease in quality and lack of attention to detail.

Used this business for several years. Al is the new manager and is very courteous and has excellent time management and his team goes above to assist the requests made for my family and my children’s automobiles. Very understanding and works hard to figure things out. Great team !!

Absolutely disgusted with them. My 83 yo mom went to get her car inspected and they said they needed to put in new bulbs for the “back up” lights. It took them about 15 minutes and $6 for the bulbs, $20 for the inspection and they charged her $111!!!!!!! Totally took advantage of her! Horrible.

Have been going to Thompson Tire for 15 years - but never again. Had my son's Jeep in for inspection before a long trip and the initial inspection failed - rear brake pads, issue with 3rd brake light, and passenger side high beam was out. No problem, that's what inspections are for - fixed all three issues and even replaced rotors which were not required. Brought the car back for reinspection and they failed it again because the mechanic can't find a DOT stamp on the OEM JEEP headlight. The light is CLEARLY an OEM light. RIDICULOUS. They will never see another dollar from me.

On our way home to Maryland from Tennessee our tire pressure was dropping quickly…. We made it here and they were SO nice! Even though we came right before closing, they still took us in and fixed the valve on the one tire and made sure everything was good with the others. Their customer service was top notch! As soon as we got in the car, our son said we’ve got to give them a 5 star review. Thank you guys so very much!

Love the guys here. AL always makes sure you get the best deal on tires and is by far the best guy ever. He's the reason I continue to return for any of my vehicle needs. And of course we love "Texas Boy"! If you want a good place to go for tires and any related needs, definitely come here!
