I had my car inspected at SpeeDee in Salem, VA yesterday. Simple you might think, but I have an inspection horror story from another similar business a few years ago on the same car. As most drivers know, those in charge of repair service make a huge difference. The husband and wife team at this location and their service people make that cut. They made the wait pleasant as they are always professional, personable, and kind to their customers. The crew that have worked on my vehicles at the specific SpeeDee location have always done a great job and held my trust. While I was at the location a woman came in and thought she might have a car leak, but she was unsure as it might have been from another person's vehicle. There was no charge when they found no leak. A similar almost no cost few minutes fix for me earlier in the year was the same and most appreciated and remembered. How refreshing to see a business that only charges for work that is required and to note their constant investment in responsible quality service, fairness, their community and customers. Salem is lucky to have such a devoted business offering and so is the SpeeDee franchise. Worth the drive if you don't live in Salem.

I had a less than stellar experience. Upon arrival, they gave me no indication of how long it would take to do my State Inspection. After watching my car sit in the parking lot for two hours untouched, I asked only to be told, “they’ll get to it soon.”
I understand that State Inspections are not their favorite, especially when no other services are needed, but clear communication would have gone a long way in this case. If they had told me to expect a 2-3 hour wait upfront, I would have still stayed and would have been fine with it since I had been informed.
