We stayed here in the campground overnight heading to New England. Full hookups including cable TV. Conveniently just off the highway. Good price too. Unfortunately we weren’t able to visit the caverns. Maybe next time we’re passing by.

Our guide, Preston was super chill and informative. We went during the weekday. Wednesday. At the time frame we went, we were the only ones in the cave other than Preston. It was such a pleasant time. We left with many postcards to hand out to our coworkers, a hoodie, a bracelet, some Virginia blue kyanite, and some even deeper appreciation for the beauty of nature.

Really spectacular cave. Very nice tour guide. Only took an hour walking and wasn't very slick

Decent price and the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and had good character. The rock formations were very fascinating.

Dixie Cavern took me back to family road trips 30+ years ago. Cell phones and good wi-fi can't compete with the sense of wonder and jaw dropping pause a natural cave system brings to a kid. I remember spending my childhood hoping to locate one myself but having to settle for trips to Ruby Falls, Laray and similar during the years of family summer road trips before plane tickets were commonly inexpensive. The gift shop up front is a combination flea market and swap meet. Sure to be some interesting finds for someone with a more discriminating eye but I scanned over most everything. The "wait" for a tour was just to give the proper gap between tour groups and was easily endured with a lap around the display floor. The tour itself was relatively informative and led by a man way too young to be tossing "Dad jokes" the way he did. (Thanks, Ben) This was a great stop during another Virginia Tech family weekend. I'm not certain I'd do it again but if you're looking to spend some time away from the campus, have never been to one or want to relive that roadside attraction wonder, give it a shot.

Junky and tired with a management team unconcerned about its customers. We stayed here for four days and the only nice thing i can say about this park is that it’s close to I81. The roads have pot holes and the bathrooms are filthy. The sites are level but a mixture of gravel and dirt, so when it rains, things get muddy. There are many permanent residences with run down rigs that live here but the story of one of them really tore at my heart. There is a moss-covered, trashy Class A here. When i asked an employees if anybody lived there, he said an older gentleman on fixed income. Now this made me think why does the park not pay to have someone with a power washer come over and clean the RV for this old man? It really makes the whole park look bad. If i was staying longer i would have done it myself. No excuse. Will not be back.

Very nice cavern and worth the price. Tour guide was informative and helpful. We stayed at the campground also which has Wi-Fi and cable included. The sites are tight but there are a lot of sites that can handle all sizes of rigs. Definitely worth the price especially if you are looking for an overnight stay.

Caverns were beautiful..different from others we've seen..but a great place to go..if your staying in the campground just remember..it's only an in and out place..several people live there..some are workers..it was very quiet..no body bothers you..but the spaces are very tight..with our slides out and the neighbors on both sides out..there was only about 3 feet between us..has to keep curtains closed all the time..felt like they were looking in all the time..both sides were class A's..us a 34 ft travel trailer..but a nice place for a 2-3 day stop.

Went on a little weekend adventure and found myself here again! I always love coming here, the tour guide (Ben) was so funny and informative and made everyone comfortable with each other imo. The people working there are always so kind and just comfortable to be around. The shop and antique store is always a must (the finds are insanely good), and the time & experience is SO worth your money.

We went during the weekday after dropping off our son at Virginia Tech and we had an afternoon to fill. The tours are on the hour and it lasts about an hour tour. We didn’t have to wait on the tour as there were few people but we had to wait 45 minutes as we got there at 15 minutes past the hour. We passed the time in the gift shop and the antique store next door and the time went by quickly. As far as caves go it was a nice place to spend an hour in a cool 55 degree environment but not impressive compared with other caves. It’s also a cave that goes up the mountain and not one that goes deep underground. The people at the place and our guide were all very nice.

Worthwhile to check out at least once. A more, what I would call, a "somewhat small, rustic" type cavern. A great, informative tour guide, she was very patient with us...... pointing out the little details of the formations.
Just be VERY CAREFUL while walking the stairs. Dampness causes the floor to be slippery. So always hold on to the rails AND watch your head.
Recommend having an addiction anti-skid stair step surface.
Also be aware of the number of steps in the many stairs during the tour. Can be tedious for some people.
Before the ~45 minute cavern tour, I enjoyed the antique section of the gift shop.
And to save money , take advantage of $2 off per adult ticket that can be found in local hotel lobbies and tourist rest areas.
