No idea why this charming getaway hotel is listed as 2 star, say what? This is a 5 star boutique hotel on every level. The kind folks who run the place were delightful. My "check-in" was done on the front porch at twilight while sitting on a nice chair and seeing the last glow of sun over the quaint little town, greatest check-in in my life(I was expecting the usual lobby with a staff person trying to pretend they're happy Im staying there). The rooms are immaculately clean and tastefully decorated. The mattress, pillows, towels etc are all as you would expect in a more expensive place, better than any Marriot or Radisson Ive ever stayed in. After a long day driving the beautiful backroads of Wise and Russell counties I was kind of stupefied when I found this hotel because I sure didnt expect such comfort. Thats why Ive posted my pics and included some scenic shots of nearby areas including the Clinch River. I could see this hotel being perfect for cyclists and canoeists, base out of St Paul and enjoy some Appalachian serenity. St Paul is also a charming small town with a few nice restaurants that you can walk to from Mountain View Lodge. I'll be back.

Rooms: The rooms are more like 2/3 bedroom apartments than hotel room. They are beautifully decorated. They are very very clean rooms. The two cleaning ladies do a superb job taking care of the place! I am so impressed by how cleanly, efficient, and cozy the rooms are.
Nearby activities: Its located right in the center of the historic town of St. Paul. Within walking distance of public library, banks, tobacco shop, vape shop, thrift shop, and hardware store. Also the local public school, park, and pool are only about 2 blocks away. The hiking trails, lake and river are also less than a mile away. The hiking trails and atv trails surround the place.
Safety: Located in the center of town with police station on the next block. Very safe town. Felt very safe here. The coded doors and locks plus security cameras. Felt very safe to me
Walkability: Can walk to just about anywhere in town you need to go
Food and drinks: The rooms are supplied with keurig coffeE makers and complimentary k-cups of coffee plus your cream and sugar. There were even a few bags of popcorn for us to pop. The rooms are equipped. With full size refrigerators and all the same appliances you would have at home toaster microwave, Stove eye, mixer, crock pot, griddle, etc.
Several local restaurants and fast food places are located within walking distance.
Noteworthy details: The two ladies the clean the place seriously have the hearts in the place. I have never seen anyone so dedicated to their job as these two women were. You could really tell they cared about the place as if it were their own. These women went above and beyond any expectations i may have had and they made themselves available to us 24/7. They even gave us their personal numbers in case we needed to reach them. Well done ladies!. Bravo! The owner is a lucky guy to have the two of you running his place. You deserve recognition for your hard work.. i look forward to coming back and seeing the both of you again. Marcie and Ashley are the epitome of what an employee of the year is. I will definitely stay again because of you ladies!

Fantastic place to stay! We had a very nice apartment in an outstanding location, walkable to everything in town. The apartment was spacious and VERY clean. All the rooms were well-sized and comfy. Would definitely be looking to stay here again next time I'm in St. Paul.

Nice rooms, noisy road, walking to food places and shops was great and owner was very friendly ,helpful ,and accommodating to our special needs will definitely come here

This is the best place I have ever stayed! I would give it 10 stars if possible! I stayed with a group of 8 or 9 people, and he had a room (room 115) that had enough beds for everyone! Coffee maker in the room, cable TV, wifi, and you get discounts for local restaurants just for staying here! Within walking distance of a great bbq place, quiet, clean. On site guest laundry, and there was even detergent and dryer sheet for use. I will be returning.

I stayed here after my a car accident, Buzz was incredibly accommodating and very helpful. They went above and beyond! The room was also very clean, I would recommend staying here if you are passing through.

St Paul is definitely one of my favorites to visit. This place is definitely the 2nd place to stay other than my granny's house. Very welcoming, clean, nice furniture, ect.

Wonderful place! Buzz was very helpful. We rode the Spearhead System there called Mountain View. Great riding area. The lodge was clean and serviceable. Will return!
