This is my favorite place to stay when traveling in SWVA. The environment and ambiance bring peace and relaxation. The terraces have been a perfect place to work. Not to mention the firepit and friendly staff! It's a perfect place to refresh and rejuvenate.

This hotel is a wonderful small town hidden gem. Lots of charm and special touches throughout. We visited the area for a 45 year high school reunion and was delighted to stay in the same town we grew up around. It was like taking a walk down memory lane. Keep it up Western Front, you're doing a great job of preserving that small town charm and comfort.
Noteworthy details: It did not take long to notice this place is different in a very good way. It's the definition of small town charm and hospitality.

Absolutely wonderful hotel in a beautiful little town! The shower gets hot!!!! The bed was extremely comfortable. I was extremely greatful they allowed me to check in early! I was exhausted after my drive. The restaurant downstairs was wonderful! Their large margarita was a great way to unwind after a long drive! I definitely plan on staying here again!

Pros
⭐️ Extremely Clean
⭐️ Great Decor
⭐️ Game Room, Fire Pit & roof terraces
⭐️ Pet Friendly ?
⭐️ Free coffee ☕️ and tea
Cons
? Very Dark throughout the whole hotel.
What an amazing stay we had! From the quick check in at the charming front desk to all the great amenities they had, it was just perfect.
Very clean and great decor. We were especially thrilled to find a room that would sleep five of us. My kids loved the bunk beds and the Roost game room. The adults loved the unlimited coffee ☕️ and hot tea and the roof terraces with a fire ? pit and nice relaxing chairs. The morning breakfast was a nice plus too. They give you a choice of apple juice, orange juice or water and then we received a chocolate muffin and a banana nut muffin with apples, one day and tangerines the next.
The Molton Brown products are AMAZING, especially the body wash. There were several cute dining options. We ate at Mawma’s for breakfast and it was delicious. We also loved that this hotel was pet friendly and had a very spacious grass area for dogs to be walked.
Our only dislike was that the hotel was extremely dark. I know this is an older building, but they needed more lighting the whole hotel itself, and especially the rooms were not very easy for my mother to navigate at night time. The lighting ?that they did have wasn’t very sufficient. During the daytime we opened all the windows in the hotel room and it was great.
We can’t wait to return to this PHENOMENAL hotel!
Rooms: Lots of rooms, especially nice rooms that fit more than five people.
Walkability: There were several restaurants in the area along with a coffee shop.
Food & drinks: Several of restaurants to choose from.
Noteworthy details: Very clean and beautifully decorated!

We had been wanting to try a side by side ATV ride for a while and I found this hotel online. It's not often in today's world when you have an exceptional experience with a business, but they were great in every way. The room and ATV rental was super easy to book online. The room was very clean and nice. We dealt with several staff members at the front desk and everyone was extremely nice and helpful. The trails were a blast and very well marked. And, the attached Mexican restaurant was fantastic! I would highly recommend them to everyone!!!

Our campsite was a bust so we wandered in to town and found Western Front. The whole staff is amazingly polite and courteous. Clean rooms, with easy to use temperature control. Mexican restaurant downstairs was excellent. Can't say enough good things about how charming the place is. If you find yourself in st Paul, I highly recommend.

Never again. I was loyal to this place anytime I was in town to see my family. They suddenly raised their price up to $128 for one night. I asked why it was so expensive and they said it cost more to stay on weekends. (Used to pay $100) I offered to pay in cash but then they asked for an even higher cost because they said I would need to pay a "cash deposit" of $135. They have a sku code next to the bed asking for tips on top of that. The "breakfast" is not decent, feels unclean, super creaky floors everywhere during the night. And it's haunted. There are better options so keep looking.

This Hotel was creatively decorated and charming. The outdoor spaces looked inviting, I would definitely recommend and return.
Nearby activities: Close to trails and waterfalls. One hour to drive to Breaks Interstate Park.
Walkability: Clinch River State Park was walkable. We really liked the meadow trail with so many wildflowers in bloom.
Food & drinks: Hotel provided Kurig coffee in room and morning juice, snack or fruit delivered to room. Restaurant on-site was opened and served scrumptious well-plated dinner. The restaurants across the street were closed, we were there on a holiday and Tuesday.

This was almost a perfect stay (I'd give a 4.9 stars).
- the hotel appears to be a restoration from a row of downtown buildings, so some of the great original features exist (wood floors, large windows, etc).
- the room (suite) was well designed. It had windows on 3 sides, which let in a lot of natural light. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was huge.
- the decor (in room and in public areas) was unique and attractive.
- the attached restaurant (mexican/seafood) was easily accessible from the lobby, and the food was delicious.
- the staff was super friendly and helpful
There are only a couple of minor negatives:
- the window treatments were attractive and of good material, but the chain to raise them was non-functional on several windows (internal ropes had detached), so they could not be easily opened to let in the light. This would likely just be a decorative repair.
- the large bathroom had two windows that were directly next to an outside patio. While there were heavy curtains, it still seemed to be potential exposure. I recommend that the hotel get the window "decals" that make the window appear to be frosted, at least on the bottom panes. Again, this is not a problem for the stay, just an area for improvement.
Also, the town of St Paul has limited local dining, options other than the attached restaurant, at the beginning of the week (we stayed Sun/Mon). There are some fast food places nearby, so food is available. It seems that the end of the week and weekend has more local establishments open. NOTE: this in no way detracts from the greatness of Western Front Hotel; its just a travel tip.
Western Front Hotel is a definite stay when we are in the area again.

We just returned from a weekend trip to St Paul and we stayed at this quaint hotel. If you love the mix of new and old as much as I do, you'll love this place as it's updated while maintaining the character of the old building. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating. There's a delicious Mexican food restaraunt on the 1st floor and we loved that too! Thank you for a wonderful weekend as we celebrated our marriage of 35 years!
