I'm very saddened to leave a negative review as Ms. Alyson is wonderful with the children and helpful in many ways. My son attended this daycare in 2019-2020 and we had an amazing experience before relocating. My son enrolled again as we moved back to the area, and I had full trust and faith in this daycare. This review is towards her staff who handled kicking my 4-year-old autistic son out of the daycare program terribly. My son began school at Ms. Alyson's on April 4th, 2022, with no issues or calls concerning behavior or how staff could care for him. It was well known he is on the autism spectrum with speech delays and sensory processing issues (per application and medical record submitted) this fact alone, I feel would indicate to any educator or childcare provider that there will need to be some sort of accommodations. On April 11th at 8am, I received a call while I was at work from Ms. Cathy (spelling?) informing me that my son needs to be picked up immediately for hitting, kicking, and biting his teachers and that they're unable to calm him and they do not have the staff to care for him, while concluding the call with "we probably won't be able to keep him here as we cannot provide the care he needs." Mind you, this is not behavior he exhibited at his previous daycare of 1.5 years (Other than the typical exit seeking, stimming and hyperactive behavior). I reminded her on the phone he is special needs, and this behavior is totally out of the norm for him. I certainly didn't mind picking him up since he was having a rough time and needed comforting, (I had to do this at his previous day care twice during his first 2 weeks due to him being overstimulated and adjusting to a new environment, luckily staff was patient and understood his needs), I spoke with another teacher on the phone later that evening who reiterated the same narrative and described him as violent so this is why he cannot return and that we will receive a check in the mail for our application fee. While I in no way support children physically acting out, especially towards teachers, this entire situation has left me absolutely sickened and speechless. My son attended the school a total of 4 full days and was kicked out, without being given a chance. There was in no way any attempt to work with us in accommodating or giving him an adjustment period like kids with autism need, he was immediately discarded, which is ableist. As prevalent ASD is, I highly recommend staff be properly trained as not every child is neurotypical.
