This company is the worst place that I have ever rented from in my entire career of working construction all across America! I left the house I rented in better condition than when I moved in. I took a video of the house before I moved anything in and showed the carpet stains and filthy rooms. And also a video of the house when I moved out. They said that because they were aware of how quickly we get laid off at end of jobs that a month notice wasn’t required. I still gave them 12 days. Still kept my 1050 deposit. Won’t return phone calls and don’t answer the phone when they see who’s calling! These people are nothing but CROOKS! Don’t ever rent any property from this place ever if you don’t like, getting screwed!! I won’t even give a one star, but it won’t let me post unless I do

I do not rent but if I did I would not go to these people!! They want you to give up your life almost . No pets no smoking blah blah blah . I would live in the wood in a tent before dealing with this company

Wouldn't recommend to anyone. They manage properties from sad excuses of landlords that don't fix anything.

We are forever grateful to find Real Estate Rentals. We rented from them for almost 3 years until we were able to purchase our forever home.

Do not rent from this company. We moved out of a house October 2019 and have still yet to receive our security deposit back or written letter stating why we are not getting it back. When I call I get the run around everytime.

My father rented one of their properties and when he passed they did let me take over the month to month lease. Upon receiving a water bill over $100 I went to them saying something was not right. And asked if the garage (ppl work out of) that is connected to my property and is also rented from them was connected to my water. They stated they didn’t know that they would have to look into it. They ended up saying the new toilet they put in was put to keep running and wrote a credit to give to the Town of Rocky Mount. The town did give me a credit on half the bill. But by then the next bill had came being over $100. They stated that the meter was read before the problem was fixed. And the next month it was over $100 again. I went back to the rental place and told them once again that I felt the garage next to me was hooked up. They said then never got an answer from the owners of the property the last time they asked and I told them I wanted to see a water bill from next door. A few weeks went by and they stated that a pipe was busted underground from my house to the garage and fixed it. Then I get a $700 dollar bill stating I used 96,000 gallons of water. I call the town to double check this and they say that’s what the meter read and that I was not eligible for a credit as you can only receive one every two years. The rental place acted like it was not a big deal and that the didn’t see any problems. And they thought I was gonna pay rent and when I told them I want paying till the problem was fixed they evicted me.

they've been good to me and they're great people but they need to do something with their maintenance or have an emergency maintenance line cuz if you have an emergency on the weekend you can't get in touch with the maintenance and right now that I'm calling I can't leave a message on their phone because their voicemails are full

Real estate rentals is probably one of the worst places to rent from, the whole business has went completely down hill since Lorie left, I’ve rented from them twice, the first time was when Lorie was still there and that was great! I never had a problem even got my full deposit back when I moved, this time around wasn’t the same, me my friend and my two young children moved into a house in July, the the house wasn’t in the best condition when we moved in, the carpets hadn’t even been vacuumed from where the last people moved out, there was dog food in the kitchen floor, blue stuff in the bathtub and sink, what looked like a paw print stuck in the floor in the kitchen, a broken window in the dining room and the roof on the porch would leak and sink in every time it would rain, the refrigerator looked like it had never been cleaned, we spent the first day cleaning and bleaching everything! Vacuuming and shampooing the carpets over and over again, after moving in we had nothing but problems from a crazy neighbor, we talked to real estate rentals about the problem and they told us that everyone that has lived in that house has had problems with him and for us to just go inside when he would come out yelling, after a couple weeeks the neighbor then started coming over to our house, hitting the side of our house, throwing things at the house, and even going as far as looking through our windows, at this point we went back in and talked to them again at the office asking if there was some way we could move into another one of their properties and they told us yes and that they would even transfer our deposit over, so we began looking for another place, every place that we would find that we wanted to move into they would make up some excuse on why we couldn’t move there. Either there was an application out on it already or it wasn’t ready to rent yet, after a couple months of that we just decided to move from there period, we put in our 30 days notice paid our full amount of rent ON TOP of a 70 dollar late fee due to us paying our rent ONE day after it was actually due, we had all of our stuff out and cleaned the entire house shampooing carpets cleaning the fridge bathtub everything! Before the day we’re supposed to turn in our keys They came in to do our move out inspection and told us when they came to do that that everything looked good it looked clean enough and that there was no damage done, we turned in our keys that day! They had the new people that rented the house in there that night! Then a couple weeks later we get a letter from them with a few pictures saying that they had to take 240 dollars out of our deposit due to cleaning fees, the things that were listed was The carpets wasn’t shampooed they had to wipe out a drawer The fan wasn’t dusted and there was a stinkbug in the windowsill in kitchen, so I called them to ask them how those few little things costed 240 dollars and I was told that they pay their cleaning lady 20 dollars an hour and she was in there 2 different days for 6 hours at a time. I asked them what exactly she had to clean and they said “ well when she got down in the floor she noticed hair” and she also said the ceiling fan didn’t looked like it had been cleaned since y’all been there, I told her that nothing had been cleaned before we moved in that there was even dog food all over the kitchen floor when we moved in so I know they didn’t have anyone go in there and clean the house before we moved in, and that I needed a receipt and more pictures proving what they had to clean... needless to say I’m still waiting on those.. they aren’t out to help anyone but themselves, the window or anything else that we had issues with wasn’t fixed while we were living there... I wouldn’t recommend them to my worst enemy..

My experience was horrible! My husband and I went threw them thinking we could trust them. They never wanted to fix anything that went wrong before we even moved in. Our basement had pipes busted and they never wanted to fix it. We had to use our own money and time to fix anything that was wrong. Then after living at our house for about 5 months real estate sends us a letter saying that the owner was putting it up for sale. So for about a month we had to watch people come in and out of our home looking at it. Then this went on for about a 2 months, then we recieve another letter in the mail saying the landlord has requesting for us to move to a different house so he can sale it faster. So now my husband and i and our 2 children have to find another place. Seems to me after all the trouble we hae went threw they would find us another house. Worst experience through real estate I have ever encountered!

The staff is very professional and great to work with!

We have rented from this company twice in the past 5 years. The first time, only for 3 months. We spent a lot of time cleaning, scrubbing, and shampooing carpets and they still withheld the security deposit claiming "their cleaning lady has OCD and went back to reclean everything." Being that we were expecting a child and moving out of town, we did not fight it as we should. This time around, we rented a townhouse from them for 3 years, until we ended up moving after the purchase of our first home. We decided not to spend a lot of time, labor, and money cleaning in fear that the "OCD cleaning lady" would appear again. We knew that we assumed some risk in doing this, but there wasn't any excessive filth or damage, therefore we were still expecting at least half of the $750 security deposit. Per the lease agreement and Virginia landlord tenant law, we were to receive information or a refund of the deposit within 45 days. After 55 days went by and hearing nothing from them, I called to inquire about the deposit and I was told she would call me back. The next day came, and I heard nothing, so I went to their office. The lady there said she was new and knew nothing, had no information, everyone was off and all she could do was leave them a message. Every day I called I got a different run around. One day she said, your refund is less than $100 because we had to paint. The next time I spoke with her she said they were still waiting on a bill to come back to determine my refund. Then she said that I owe them money! They claim my file is locked up somewhere they don't have access, and everyday they say the owner Mike will be in at 5pm and they'll have to leave him a message.I say all of this to say, know what you are getting yourself into with this company. Their properties are filled with the cheapest items they can find. You will open a door and the whole knob will come off. Hinges and screws will fall out. You will open a cabinet and the whole door will come off in your hand. Appliances will go out on you every few months. Every summer my AC stopped working at least twice, and every winter the heat stopped working at least twice. All of this, we experienced from one of their nicer townhouse rentals, in a great neighborhood, where we paid $650/month to live. My neighbor experienced extreme water damaged that was not taken care of from a pervious tenant.Needless to say, when you have a problem it is so hard to reach someone to help you. One time I literally had to call 100 times to get the maintenance man to answer when we were experiencing an emergency. I've experienced a fountain of water spraying up in the air out the yard, and waking up to a back yard filled with feces sludge and toilet paper, no one ever came to fix this. That sludge dried into the grass over a year time, and the lawn care people would just mow around it. My husband drives a tractor trailer and use to bring his truck home. The first time he put tire marks in the grass in our parking space, the secretary was knocking on our door demanding we put new gravel down on the whole parking lot! We use to pay our rent 3 months at a time, and we received an eviction letter in the mail for non-payment. When I took them our receipt showing payment of almost $2,000, they said they would call us back after investigating (never did). They didn't even apologize for their mistake! Since that incident we decided it was best to pay month to month. It is not about the money. We knew the risk that we were assuming by not doing any cleaning when we moved out. But it was a point that needed to be made. I suggest that you do work to find your own rentals in the Rocky Mount, Boons mill, and SML area and not waste your time with real estate rentals.
