I'm not sure about this place. No website or social media presence. Not really my kind of merchandise.

Darn good food all around. You will not be disappointed. The appetizers are out of this world home made good.

I have been traveling to Roanoke on a regular basis (at least twice a month) for work for a little over a year now, maybe 14 months. I stay at Hotel Roanoke, downtown, most often when it's an overnight (or two) stay. If you've stayed there, you know there's a enclosed bridge/walkway from near the hotel entrance that crosses the railroad tracks and to escalators that drop you off into the middle of downtown. It took me this whole year of trying different places (some more than once) to find my regular rotation of downtown restaurants. Over the last 6 months or so, Blue 5 has risen to the top. The food, service, and atmosphere have all contributed. I have never had a bad or even mediocre meal here. From the "stein" of thick cut bacon appetizer, to their burgers, to their ribeye, it has all been delicious. An extensive and thoughtfully-curated beer list just adds to my enjoyable experiences. Though I typically sit at the bar since I'm usually on my own for dinner, the 2-3 occasions on which I was with other people have been great as well. Prompt and friendly service without exception. I've also seen the place packed on Wednesday nights when they have live music. I could get more specific about some of the dishes I've had, but honestly, it's all been good. A nice step above the usual bar food. I'll be back in Roanoke next week, and I guarantee you'll find me at Blue 5 one of the two nights I'm in town!

I am here to shoutout Adam, who was our bartender on a recent Friday evening. We sat at the bar and he gave us wonderful service, recommended great beers from the list, and mentioned many breweries to try as we continued our journey north.Food was pretty good and arrived quickly, and there were several vegetarian options. Really pleased we chose to come in for a very early dinner before the big rush so we could monopolize Adam's time. He's a great asset to the restaurant!

Hadn't been here in over five years so I wasn't sure what to expect. Unfortunately we were very underwhelmed with the service and atmosphere. I knew they had music on Saturday but it should have been asked how close we wanted to sit to the music. Needless to say we were seated right by the stage, great music but obviously way too loud for dinner conversation. After about 45 minutes we did ask to be moved and thankfully there was a table open in the back so they let us switch. Service wise, not good at all. Took three asks to get another water, five or so times to get a straw for my friends water. Our waiter was gone for about 15 minutes at one point which then my boyfriend went to the bar to get drinks for the table. When we were moved to the other table the waitress in that area was not courteous to us at all even though our waiter was still waiting on us. Thankfully the food was good. Not amazing but good. We had ribs , flank steak and shrimp & grits Ribs were fall off the bone tender and the sides were great. We got our desserts to go, thankfully my friend checked them because they were switched. Otherwise we would have gone home with the wrong dessert. Not sure if they were understaffed or just poorly trained but tonight the quality of service ruined the experience.

The only reason I took one star away was the service was slow. Not horribly slow but we stood waiting to be seated a couple of minutes and then they only had one server. The hostess filled our drinks a couple of times because the server was busy bringing food out for the other patrons. The food was excellent. I originally came here because I wanted to try the pretzel bites with beer cheese, but sadly they no longer have it on the menu. My garlic Brussel sprouts were very flavorful I just wish they had served a slightly larger portion.

Been sitting at a table for almost half an hour and never approached by a server for a drink order or otherwise!I often find this to be the case when I go in blue five

I made reservations for our party of 6 two months in advance - for 8PM on Saturday Dec 14, 2019. I was told to arrive by 7:30PM and the table on the main floor near the band might be ready before 8PM, otherwise our party could wait at the bar until the table cleared from earlier 6PM diners. So we waited at the bar, 8PM came and went and even after several requests to the two young female maitre d's who identified our table for six - it was still occupied by the earlier patrons until 8:30PM. When those earlier guest left, one of them told us as they left that they had been trying to pay their bill for over 1/2 hour, but their waitress had disappeared! We were seated at 8:37PM and then it was our turn to wait - without water or setups or drinks or even any waitress until I again bugged the maitre d for some service! It took until after 9PM before we received our water and table setups! The band was already playing. Then we ordered drinks which did not come until about 9:20PM. The waitress would simply disappear for 15-20 minutes at a time and again we had to ask the maitre d to find our waitress - or any waitress. Finally we all ordered around 9:30, then we waited until about 9:50 when our food came out - lukewarm, Very Expensive food! And one order was completely wrong and our friend had to wait another 10 minutes to receive his correct order - a barbecue sandwich & fries. We tried the ploy of ordering 2 beers apiece to eliminate the problem with the disappearing waitress, and two of our guests just got up and went to the bar to order their drinks. The WORST SERVICE of any restaurant in Virginia. After eating our barely warm food, we had to wait another 15 minutes to pay up before leaving at 11:06PM. Blue 5 is the MOST POORLY MANAGED RESTAURANT in Virginia. Hey, but the band was ok.

If you are looking for great food and drinks with a live rocking blues style band this is your place. Kind of New Orleans themed which I like. Bartenders actually know how to make a drink.

We came here for dinner before our rehearsal dinner to try the menu and it was great! Rehearsal dinner in the Red Room was nice as well. But when we came for a family dinner after that, they had changed the menu completely and the new menu was TERRIBLE. My dad did not want to ea t anything off the new menu and ended up just having a liquid dinner. For those of us in the group who ate, no one enjoyed their meal. Please go back to the old menu!

Not a fan. Don't waste your time with overpriced mediocre food. The bartender was busy but pleasant and the atmosphere is an odd twangy remix of the 70s.

I stopped on a Friday night to listen to some music and enjoyed a good evening of beers on tap and some appetizers. Starting with the beer, they had just finished a special with lots of stouts and porters so that is what was on tap. Not exactly my cup of tea but lots of variety and good quality dark beers. They had enough other variety to keep things interesting. In terms of food, I enjoyed the crabcake and fried green tomato appetizer. Very tasty good flavors and some additional sauce on the side made it very good. I also had the blue cheese and bacon french fries. Very tasty. Just the right amount of toppings. The french fries were extremely crunchyOverall a very good experience. Good food good beers and some good country music of the night I was there. I would definitely go back!
