This place does not open at 9 am as stated, but 10 am. Retail showroom has only 1 salesperson. If someone calls, then that salesperson skips the person in the store, walks 100 feet away to see if they have a gun in stock, and then goes back to the in store customer. If your customer # 2, you are screwed. best betis to to leave and go to doomsday tactical right up the street. Better prices, super friendly staff ( 3 salespersons) and better inventory. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

SafeSide Tactical is a top notch local gun shop here in Roanoke, VA. The staff are both knowledgeable and friendly. If they don't have something in stock, most times they can order what you are looking for no problem. I definitely recommend you give them your business. ??

Employees are knowledgeable, but very rude and smug. Was told this was a good store, however I had quite the opposite experience. Took our business elsewhere that day for a STELLAR experience compared to Safe Side… You’d probably have a better experience at a pawn shop. Lost 2 good paying customers that day. I don’t usually leave reviews but when we walk out questioning why we even went there in the first place instead of quite literally anywhere else, it’s hard not too. Do not recommend.

Great place. Honest people. An unfortunate hiccup happened with my lane reservation. Matthew and Mitchell addressed it immediately and made things right. Very professional. 10 out of 10.

Waited for 15 minutes watching the only employee go rental gun shopping with a customer. Painful. Ended up leaving after realizing the employee enjoyed hearing his voice as much as the renters wanted to talk about every gun in the case. Terrible experience. Not worth the wait and I'll never go there again.

Although not purchased from Safeside, my Sig pellet rifle needed service. They had it for three months and they "couldn't get a return authorization" from Sig. Called Sig today and they stated to me Safeside never contacted them! Although they denied what Sig told me, why would Sig not give them the authorization to return the rifle? Sig's warranty is only for six months and while the rifle was used sparingly, ( yes it is 6 years old) I will never purchase another item from Sig. They offered me a 30% discount on another air rifle if I wanted another one of their air rifles. Not!As far as I am concerned, I won't ever grace Safeside's doorsteps again! They flat out lied to me about attempting to get my rifle to Sig and not once ever contacted me with their so called attempts at Sig!If that is the way they treat an air rifle problem, god help us when one of my firearms have a problem. You can bet it won't be taken to them, nor will I ever purchase anything in the future from them. They lost a potential good customer for firearms.Apparently they really don't need my business or my money!

I dont really write reviews but I feel I need to for this place. These people here are respectful to newcomers and old alike. The staff have love and passion for their firearms and not only that but staff gets along with not just the customers but other staff as well. They have a huge slection of firearms both that you can buy or rent to fire at one of their indoor firing ranges. With how much there is to do here I wouldn't be surpised if one would get hooked coming here. I wish for anyone who reads this to check them out and I hope you have the same fun I did. I am not thinking about going to another range, this is where it's at.

I am really disappointed with the Roanoke location. I have been coming here for awhile, I took my class here also. But after today I will never step foot in this location again. The employees are rude and nasty when they answer the phone. So is James the manager!!! I called to asked to speak to a supervisor or manager regarding an issue I had a couple days ago. So the guy on the phone put somebody else on the phone. He don’t say who is or anything. He just say hello. I said are you a supervisor or manager. He said excuse me. I repeat myself again. I said are you a supervisor or manager cause I keep getting transferred to different people. He goes to say ma’am what do you need real nasty. I said I need to speak to who in charge cause I have a complaint. I asked him 3 times his name and was he a supervisor or a manager and he did not want to answer me. He only say I can take your complaint. After asking him for the 5th time he say his name is James and he is the manager. Well James why couldn’t you have said that when you answered the phone. The correct way was to say. Hello this is James the manager how can I help you!! Then I told James I need to speak to whoever is over top of him. Because he is loud and rude, very nasty. He tell me a family runs the store. I asked to speak to them and James hangs up on me. With customer service like this I can keep my money in my pocket… James your employee talks rude to people cause, you as a manager or whatever your title is do it.. Real Sad. After looking at some of the reviews.. Whoever replies back is the same way. How you supposed to get better when you can’t accept criticism.

I have always enjoyed spending time at safeside. I decided to pay for a membership to give me a little incentive to go more often to better my skills. I've been paying on it about 5-6 months and recently found out I have cancer. At this point I will not have time or energy to go anymore. Doctor visits and everything associated with cancer patients. I filled out the cancellation form to let them know what I had going on. A woman called me and said that when I signed up I agreed to pay the whole year. I understand that but I didn't know that I would be fighting cancer. I guess they are hurting for money. No compassion. If I get through this I will never go there again nor will I recommend anyone to go there.

Curtis Lynch is an excellent instructor! Makes you feel comfortable if you have never shot or handled a weapon and teaches you the basics (depending on the course). An incredibly patient individual with extreme knowledge in this area. Loved this.

Very unpleasant experience in every step of the way. I wanted to buy upgraded sights for my handgun which were not in stock. They requested full payment to place the order. After a week I started calling asking if they were in and I was repeatedly told the shipment was running late and they would be in soon. After about two weeks Idemanded my money back. It was then they actually looked into it and found out the order was never placed. Living more than an hour away, I requested a check mailed to me that never arrive. I left phone messages that were never return. Finally, I was able to speak to somebody who claimed the check was sent and must have been lost. It has been a month and no resolution.Update; I was eventually fully reimbursed

I went for the basic handgun class for my private security job I thought it would be somewhat boring but Mr Curtis Lynch was an amazing instructor such a joy to be around would definitely come back for my recertification.

Safeside ignores calls, even after you've been left a message to call them back...call and try to talk to anyone and they pick up the phone and hang it up. Seems to be the norm for them if you read the reviews. Now I believe them.....( Update...after leaving the review the owner reached out to me by phone and apologized...He was very informative and helpful. He scheduled me to come in and I had a firearm inspected for safe tolerances and test fire. The staff was very helpful and I picked the firearm up the morning after drop off. Overall good experience and I would recommend Safeside Tactical Roanoke VA. If you are looking for knowledgable people to help with you firearm inspections,General questions, and purchases.
