Amazing hike through the mountains. The map doesn't really give you too many landmarks to use. The "blue" track is hella ADHD at the beginning of the trail. For a beginner, someone could easily get lost. All-in-all a nice park and hike.Dog-friendliness: Keep bags on hand, and keep your pet on a leash.

Very easy access and parking with picnic tables and a shaded area. Perfect for a mild hike just to get out in nature for a bit. Some areas are a little slippery and steep on some rocks so use caution if it's been raining. Overall great little trail. Could be good for trail running or just a nice stress relief strollRestrooms: One portapotty

Best hike to go on if you are a beginner at hiking, I went on the trail yesterday for the first time and I loved the view going up, probably needs new blue marks on the trees tho with some fading

I love read mountain!!! The hike is easy to moderate and there’s many trails to choose from to get to the summit. This helps if you want a harder hike or if you want some solitude. The hike can range from 2-3 miles to the summit depending on which trail you take. There’s also a bench at the summit which wasn’t always there. I honestly don’t see the need for a bench up there as there are plenty of rocks to sit on. Overall a beautiful mountain and a beautiful view that overlooks Roanoke, mainly the hollins area. You can also watch airplanes take off and land from the summit!Restrooms: There is a porta John at the trailheadDog-friendliness: Dogs are welcome but you just pick up after them, doggie bags are available at the trailheadPicnic area: There is also a small picnic area at the trailhead, maybe only two picnic tables

Relatively close to where I live or shop this mountain gives me easy access to mountain hiking. It is tame but moderately challenging. Allow four hours for the up and down hike and stops along the way.Restrooms: There is a port-a-potty at the parking lot.Dog-friendliness: Many hikers bring dogs. Please bring g plastic bags and clean up any messes.Picnic area: Picnic tables at the parking lot.

Hidden away in suburbia. Both of my Uber drivers to and from here had no idea this place existed. Fantastic views of the surrounding mountains through the trees in March, Buzzard's Rock is a must hit as well. I would recommend taking the Buzzard's Rock trail up for a shallower climb, or the Rocky Way trail for a steeper one.

Didn't realize that a hike like this was available so close. Trail is well maintained and marked. It's a steady climb going up along with steps. There some awesome views with the airport all the way to Carvins Cove.Restrooms: In the parking areaDog-friendliness: Took my dog with me and saw several on the trail.

Great hike! Intermediate difficulty. 1.9 miles to buzzards rock, or about 6 miles round trip. The ascent is moderate and footing is a little rocky. 1 small creek for the pups to stop and take a drink. My favorite part is that there weren't many people there.

Good wooded hike! Well marked to stay on the right trail. We saw a creek along the way. It’s pretty rocky and you even climb some rock steps. If you take the blue trail, it takes you 2 miles up the mountain to Buzzards Rock. It’s all uphill to the overlook, but not too steep. I’d say this hike is moderately challenging.
