Attendant made us wait excessively to check in without explanation; it was around midnight, so it was not busy at all. She was shuffling papers around, something she could have done after helping us. Bathroom floors are dark & not cleaned. Bathroom mat was full of small hair (like a haircut had taken place on it) & there was a long coarse black hair inside one of our bath towels. Good thing the bed sheets looked clean & was near the airport.

We are extremely disappointment with my recent stay at Holiday Inn Roanoke Hotel. Upon arrival, we were assigned a room that was clearly not cleaned. The room was in disarray, suggesting it needed to be properly prepared for occupancy (see the attached image).
To make matters worse, when I returned to the front desk to address the issue, I was given a key to another already occupied room. This error caused unnecessary inconvenience and stress.
Furthermore, our room service request needed to have been handled more appropriately. Upon returning to our room for the second day, I discovered that only one bed had been made, and the bathroom had not been cleaned or restocked with fresh towels. In addition, all the towels were rolling here and there on the bathroom floor (which we did not do while we left the room).
After all these incidents, the front desk lady did not even apologize. I have always chosen the Holiday Inn while traveling because I enjoy staying there. But this experience was worse than I could have imagined. We felt unsafe for the whole time. Before putting someone in the work, the hotel management should train them so that customers do not feel unsafe and unwelcome. This stay was a waste of money and time.

Unfortunately we could not stay, therefore I can not fully rate… but Jen helped out our situation (rooms were unavailable even though our 3rd party booking already charged us)
Appreciate the smiles and helpfulness in a sticky situation

Booked through hotels.com paid in advance. Arrived to check in and the parking lot was not very well lit at all. And there were a bunch of groups of people standing around drinking beer in the parking lot. Found parking and went in and the woman,Jenn, at the front desk took my drivers license and then asked me for payment. I advised her that I prepaid and proceeded to show her my receipt. She advised she didn’t “see that “. She also asked me why my address was in Tennessee but my license was Virginia. I advised my address was Virginia. She then stated a name that wasn’t mine, so I advised her that she was looking at the wrong reservation. She corrected it but after 15 min I was very annoyed. No apology or acknowledgment of HER mistake. Once you leave the lobby the hotel goes downhill very quickly. Dirty carpets, odors, and people drinking in the hallways. Once I got to my room, I was surprised that the “couch” offered a trundle bed however the couch was covered in pen marks and the pillows weren’t even placed on the couch but leaning on the wall which looked so sloppy. All night long there were people slamming doors and being loud. The blackout curtains are not blackout so if you are a light sensitive sleeper, (as I am) you will not get any rest. Then first thing this morning a man was yelling “time to start banging on doors”. Check out is at 11 not 830 am when they were banging on doors. I will never frequent this hotel again. So disappointed as it was about $170 for one night.
Rooms: Attempted updates but still old
Safety: Poorly lit parking lot.

Stayed here after Rutgers vs Virginia Tech game. Place was clean. Staff was super friendly and willing to help. Especially Jermaine at the Breakfast Buffef. He struck up conversations with everyone and made sure you had everything you needed. There was a Romance Novel convention going on that was well organized. Two vastly different groups there at the same time made for a unique experience in itself. I would definitely go back and stay again the next time in the area.

The service rating is due to the fact they knew there was a convention but overbooked anyway.
The convention was told they would have priority but rooms were not available at the rest hour. Instead they were available after an hour and a half.
I expect more from hotels when they know they are holding a convention.

Poor custom service, room lacked cleanliness, delayed check in due to “short staffing”. Would not recommend. I only stayed there due to its location and the fact that I had been charged already…

Arrived a little later in the afternoon checked in everything was fine. Had someone in the room next to me blaring metal music all night long sleeping was next to impossible. Went downstairs for breakfast. The next morning I had three different employees asked me for the voucher I was given at the desk three different times. One guy was on his phone the entire time and felt inconvenienced because there were no forks for the breakfast and I asked for one and he brought me a ketchup bottle instead, definitely not the way I remember this place. Completely unhappy with my stay and probably will not do it again.

To all the families, mama's with children, and people traveling solo. The hotel felt safe.
We checked in rather late. Ms Kelly who checked us in was friendly and accommodating. People were having a birthday party in a conference room at the front check-in area. It was neither loud nor made me second guess my hotel choice. The room was clean. The only issue I had with the room was the bathtub drain would not stay up on its own. We had to use a rag to hold up the stopper for the water to drain from the tub.
Now, what I did not care for. Instead of holding 50 dollars for possible damages, it was a 100-dollar hold. ok. I can live with that. The money didn't go back to my account right away. So I called the hotel, as one would.
When I called to confirm that the hotel had released the hold, I'm assuming the person who answered did not understand my phrasing of the question, she got aggravated with me, and it was very apparent that she got aggravated. She did give me the answer I was looking for. The hold was released, and it wasn't being held for any reason by the hotel.
