Buyer beware. This is a great store, but they are hardly ever open due to one reason or the other mainly sewage issues. They have so many signs on the door you don't know if their open or not until the door doesn't open.

I really like shopping at Dollar General BUT the store location on Plantation Rd and the one on Williamson Rd in Roanoke look like a tornado went through them. The one on Plantation Rd was the better of the two on yesterday 6/19/23 but the gentleman standing behind the check out counter and wearing a black DG shirt was a complete jerk. Personally I will not be going back to that location. The Williamson Rd location is one of the newer location and half of everything in the store was literally in the floor. No one at the register, if you need help you have to call out. The bad thing is they both say their locations are hiring but if you inquire they will tell you NO. It is very obvious their CEO is not paying attention or just does not care. They do not pay their employees enough and they definitely need more employees per store. They need a cashier for the front of the store and they need multiple stockers. Who wants to shop in a place where you are not valued as a customer and you can't walk down the isles. I personally have tried to reach the office of the CEO but I get no reply. The Dollar Tree is just as bad. Sign on the windows state "work today, get paid today" again when you inquire they say they are not hiring at the moment. How long are consumers going to continue shopping at these stores? The stores are obviously not staffed correctly and are nasty! Does the CEO know what he is doing? Does he care? Is he going to do anything about it? To make this kind of money to sit and do nothing!!! Maybe they both should come out of their ivory towers and see how the rest of the world lives. The way I see it is that they just don't know how to do their jobs or they just don't care.

Always close went over there at 5 PM. Close people still in it. Knock at the door no one answer. Nothing they should close for good.

Someone needs to get a hold of this store. You can barely walk around in there it’s a safety hazard. Went today at 3:30pm and a sign on the door says “no need to pull the door we will open soon” went to open the door to make sure it was locked and a women yells “we’re closed!” Very rudely. Last time I was in there getting checked out said hello and tried to talk to the cashier she continued to have a conversation with a fellow employee behind the counter and never spoke to me. This is crazy.

Honestly, this place should just shut down. They’ve been closed more times in the last month than I can remember. They said it’s a fire marshal issue, but who really knows. This store used to have awesome staff, but the best people have left and now it’s just cranky people. Gonna just go down the road to neighborhood wal mart.

Terrible, They have been Closed for quite sometime now, To be quite frank with ya I Honestly think they have been like this for almost goin on a whole year I now well over 6 months I do know that much. They needa get their s**t together that or at least portray to people that they are closed like the website on their big a** sign near the street, I mean Somethin ? ... but I'm sure this will continue on hopefully just for not much longer! ?

This location is very unprofessional. Almost every time I really need something from this location there is a written sign on the door that says closed. This is very inconvenient. The store is always cluttered and it’s hard to walk through. There are times I don’t even want to go to this location just for fear that it will say closed on the door and it normally is.
