My daughter was brought here to the childrens hospital after being diagnosed with rsv and pneumonia. The service we received was beyond amazing. From the nurses and doctors. As well as other staff members including the Ronald Mcdonald staff. They kept me informed and answered my many questions. They were very gentle and caring but thorough. Love them all ❤️ Angels on earth!!!

They aren’t here to help people but to make people life more miserable. I will never recommend this hospital to anyone. No one here really does their jobs. I wish I hadn’t been to this hospital

I was released by the hospital with level 6 pain, they didn't rule out any conditions but a gallbladder condition, starved me for over 27 hours, they duplicated all my testing that was already done elsewhere, and they insinuated that I was interested only in opiod drugs. If you care about your life, don't go to this hospital.

This was the worst hospital i’ve ever been to in my entire life. nurses AND the doctors were sneaky and acted as if they had no idea what was going on. i left the hospital in more pain than i did going in. their attitudes were gross especially to young patients that they KNOW would be scared and in pain. never going there again i don’t think they could save a life

Some of the surgeons and nurses have very bad bedside manners. And Hippa laws does not exist with them.

Bad bedside manner by the staff. They say this is the best hospital but I don't like the way they treat patients and the doctors aren't very friendly when discussing care for youf family members with you. If I could give it no stars I would.

Was actually told by a doctor after being denied pain medication, "lots of people have abdominal cancers and don't have pain. We can put you in touch with addiction medicine." I had a pain doctor and received 60 oxycodone a month until November the prior year when I no longer needed them and stopped. This is not the behavior of an addict or drug seeker. Had I wanted drugs, and been addicted, I would have simply kept seeing that doctor. Ridiculous! I'm leaving this under the hospital as the ED doctors were wonderful. It wasn't until admitting doctors took over that I was mistreated. I even had to involve a patient advocate and the head ED doctor, but admitting doctor who never examined me was not listening to anyone. The doctor was Dr Gustav Wieland. God help you if you get him as your physician.

Some nurses need training on professionalism. They never followed up with me on my complaint about a nurse & sided with the nurse on an inappropriate comment she made to my husband, TWICE! 2nd time While visiting someone, I asked for water 4 TIMES & a surgical resident asked for me to no avail. I do understand it’s a very busy establishment and has GREAT doctors that actually care but the nurses are where the issues are.

Most of the time when I go here, yall do not treat my pain, and yall do what yall want. Also the doctors or the PAs do not look at my chart/history at all. Do whatever they want to do and that’s not fair to me, but yall suppose to be #1! Change the message you all are giving cause it’s not the truth or facts. Also you all just had another shooting like a week in a half ago. Get it together VCU and also you all treat foreign people better then US citizens where do they do that at?!? VCU

Had a trip to the ER today and every single person I encountered made me feel heard and changed a scary situation into a comforting one. Melissa, Haya, and Ulanda were all so incredibly helpful and lovely. They truly made this day far better for me.

Dr Kates is fantastic and the three primary RNS I HAD OVER MY 36 hour stay were good but unfamiliar with the hospital and my doctor. I felt Iike a cow in a cattle drive right after checking in for surgery. Just a number. The hospital is old and outdated. There were so many workers/nurses/attendants the place was over crowded. It seems no one knows each other. My 3 RNs were traveling/floating nurses and didn’t know each other or my doctor. My room was old, extremely small and very dirty. There was a hamper/trash can in my shower the entire stay. My socks were very dirty after I got out of bed to use the restroom. The controls on my bed device was partially broken (no lights control). I felt like I was in an overflow room and it seemed like a janitors closet. I pray I never need that hospital again. After my release (Marshall street entrance was closed on that Saturday), it was chaotic. Also, no one called to check after the hospital stay and no survey was provided. I’ve been treated much better in military field hospitals, military hospitals and VA hospitals.Just really bad. I would give my doctor 5 stars and the hospital 0 stars. Guess that is 2 out of 5 for me.

Was transferred here for observation after emergency surgery. Everyone was kind and the food was decent. Only complaint is that I would frequently have to make requests multiple times before it was done, and I had to keep track of my pain med schedule myself because sometimes they'd be late. Either they are understaffed or there are communication issues.

ER is Worst patient care. I am 53 and was treated like a child. Someone who knows the staff went straight back. Everyone else waited 6 - 8. They simply don't care
