The River Road location has no concept of customer service ! The sales associates are apparently untrained and cannot find anything in the store unless they are shown a picture in a catalog. I am tired of being shown wool blazers when I ask about the knitted blazers (and even indicate the colors they come in), having my time wasted being shown items irrelevant to my inquiry, and having a manager interrupt our conversation to call over a sales associate to give directions re restocking. Sales associates lack training and knowledge re Talbots "products". Even with complete shipping information from an order, an associate could not process a return until she was told to enter the order number. RIDICULOUS and frustrating !!!!!!

This is the busiest store I've ever been to! No matter the day or time, it's full of customers shopping, sometimes in groups! Maybe it's because it's in such a great area. It's difficult to get one-on-one assistance if you just walk in, but I heard that the Appointments experience is top notch! I plan to schedule ahead of time, especially if I'm doing some event shopping or am just in the mood for the full Talbots experience.

Suzanne was absolutely amazing! She took the time to measure (and place on hold) a lovely green cashmere sweater for me! She was so patient and understanding. One doesn’t see customer service this great anymore. Talbots is lucky to have her. Highly recommend this location for shopping

Yesterday (11/26/21), I returned a defective pair of corduroy jeans that were shipped on 9/23/21 and delivered on 9/26/21. One leg was twisted. They had been washed but not worn, and I had all the tags, order no., and shipping notice. It was 3 days past the 60-day return policy (if you start counting from the day they were SHIPPED), plus yesterday was Thanksgiving holiday and the store was closed. Store manager would not accept return and she declined to call Customer Service for me. So I called Customer Service while I was still in the store, which authorized the return and issued an immediate credit. Ultimately, I got a refund but it seems the store manager could have exercised her discretion and judgment. After all, the MERCHANDISE WAS DEFECTIVE and she COUNTED THE DAYS IN TRANSIT TOWARD THE 60-DAY RETURN POLICY. Usually happy with this store, but this was extremely disappointing.

I love Talbots and I have been a Talbots shopper for 30 plus years. But unless your an 80 old bag from the River Road area, don't expect to get waited on. I walked around for about 30 minutes with probably 10 items in mind hands and given that I'm a small woman, this was no easy feat. No one offered to start a fitting room and there were plenty of sales associates to ignore me.

I shop at Talbots several times a year when they offer special sales such as 40% off everything. Otherwise, I don't go in on a regular basis. However, I have noticed that many times I have been in I haven't been greeted by a sales associate or asked for assistance. I had sales associates walk right pass me and not greet me. The majority of the time I shop at the River Road store in Richmond, VA and it only seems to happen at this location. I feel I am always dressed nicely in my late 50's but this has happened on more than one visit. Its funny because someone else will walk in behind me and greeted warmly. It appears I am invisible for some reason. I am a Talbots cardholder and have spent too much money there to be ignored as a customer. There needs to be better training by management at this location.
