Had an amazing date night! The coach was super friendly, and knowledgeable and helped us tremendously. The food was ok and along the lines of quick bar food quality. We got all the upgrades so we could try out Ninja Stars and throwing knives. We had a total blast! Parking really sucks so come early and be prepared to walk a couple blocks.

Took 3 others to this place last nite and everyone had fun. The owners and employees were very friendly and helpful. This will be a regular stop off for me when I’m in town.

I've been to several axe throwing lanes and this place takes the axe. The owner even bought our newly engaged friend a drink at his own expense to celebrate. Super friendly staff, great atmosphere, fun games. A great time and to end it they take a picture for you with a wide selection of "props". Will definitely be coming back!

The entire staff was warm and inviting. Meghan (not sure if that’s spelled correctly lol) personally helped us and she was AMAZING. She was very informative when guiding us through throwing safety and techniques. She also checked in periodically and threw in quick tips. The experience and her service was just all around a great vibe. Will definitely be coming again.

Had an adult birthday party, and everyone enjoyed! There system of check in/ordering/coaching etc was great. Staff were friendly but not overly loquacious. Would definitely go again!

Throwing axes/stars is objectively very fun. However, the ownership/management structure is fairly nonsensical.Our experience in a nutshell: 7:00pm, we walk in and there's three or four lanes taken. We're told they're fully booked and can't take walk-ins until 8.Cool, no problem. We go get food, come back at 8:39 - even less people throwing axes. We're told we can't play because they aren't taking anyone as they close at 9:30. We weren't even able to pay for full time to play until close(~50 minutes).If you get a lane, it's enjoyable. Meh food, normal canned drinks, nice mellow vibe. I enjoyed throwing axes on my first visit. But it just feels like they don't want customers. I felt like they just didn't want us to be there both when we were actually playing and when we weren't able to get a lane.So I guess the take away is to make a reservation? And don't mind employees being very nonchalant/aloof. Or hopefully we've just been unlucky!

Awesome place for a good time with a group. Want to feel like a Viking or at the very least drink a beer and throw an axe? Shield N Sheath is your place. Went for a birthday celebration. Employees were very helpful in explaining technique and safety. You must wear close toed shoes but they have some crocs if you forget yours. Beer, wine, and cider are for sale. The space is a little smaller than other Hatchet places in the Richmond area but spacious enough for multiple groups. Pricing is $35 per thrower for an hour and a half. They have an assortment of axes and also ninja stars (for an additional $5 charge). It's definitely fun and great date night idea!

Highly recommend this axe throwing facility for anyone looking for a fun and unique activity. The staff was knowledgeable, helpful, and showed genuine care that a good time was had by all. It's perfect for team building events, birthday parties, or just a fun night out with friends!

We had a blast on a guys night out here. Down in Scott's Addition, so parking can be hit or miss, but fairly accessible to everything in the area. Staff was very friendly. They go over how to throw, use the system, and how to play the different games. They have a number of other throwable things than just axes, which is cool. Little bar and can get some bar grub as well. Lot of fun!

First time going and it was so much fun! The prices are affordable, great location, friendly staff. Went this past saturday (4/1) around 3p and it wasn't crowded at all! Our instructor, Alex, showed us how to throw axes, stars, and batarangs. He was so helpful, we can't wait to go back!
