Absolutely the best framing shop I've ever worked with... in RVA or DC! My husband and I have used Rick's to frame a print that was a gift from our son, and to frame two original art pieces we bought at a local gallery. We also used them to re-mat a painting to go with new decor. Rick's is on the pricey side, but well, well, worth it. First, the selection of frames and mats is outstanding, and easy to browse. They offer a wide variety of frames in every style imaginable. The staff are wonderful - knowledgable and friendly. We've worked with 3 separate framing experts for our projects and all were extremely helpful, making suggestions and taking all the time we need to get just the right look. Rick's is popular, so if you go on a weekend or lunch hour, you may have to wait a bit. But be patient... the reason you are waiting is because they are not rushing their customers, and they won't rush you when it's your turn. The turnaround time for framing is reasonable, and they call you when your items are ready for pick-up. Rick's is our go-to shop for framing from now on!

Wow. Just wow. Rick's Custom Frame and Gallery is amazing. I walked in with a series of original pastel works that I collected over the years in their tired, dirty gallery frames. Austin greeted me and spent hours figuring out just the right frames. He was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable, but beyond that, he was patient as I tried to imagine what would fit the art and the space (we recently bought a new home) as well as serve the concept of an art cluster for an irregular space. He also respected the artwork, giving an honest evaluation of which glass and matt style would serve the art as well as the eye.Framing itself isn't cheap anywhere you go, but they were right in line with other quotes I've gotten. What was different was the time; 5 large, moderately complex framing jobs in under a month? Then call me in half that time and tell me that I can pick it up? I was pleased enough to come to Google and do a review, lol.They are no secret, I have never seen so much activity in a framing shop, yet they managed to make everyone feel welcome and valued. People know a good thing when they see it!TL;DR: Rick's is professional, capable and really nice to deal with, they deliver on time, and are fairly priced.(I promised them photos, so here you go, Austin!)

I had an incredible first-time experience as a customer at Rick's. They spend a lot of time with you making sure you're picking the best choices for your art and where it will be hanging, and the end result is incredible. They're very transparent about how each material is priced and give a clear timeline for when you can expect your project to be done. I highly recommend them, and I plan on being a repeat customer.

Rick's Custom Frame and Gallery is a gem I just stumbled on when I needed to have two prints framed for my daughter's birthday. It is not inexpensive, but the care and attention given to my prints was as if I had a Rembrandt! They also were able to meet the deadline for when I needed it. Thank you so much!

I had been ignorantly wasting my money for years at the local big chain store. When the last quote I received from them was over $1500 I knew I needed to find another solution. A friend told me about Rick’s and I am so thankful. From the moment I walked in I was welcomed. We talked through multiple different options for my piece. Once decided, their pricing was LESS THAN A THIRD of the chain store, their turnaround time was faster, and honestly the quality is even better. I love supporting local business I’m just upset that I didn’t know of this gem earlier. I will be going to Rick’s for all my future framing needs.

I recommend their precision & their ability to listen to what a customer needs. My wife & I had our son’s medical school degree framed. I showed them his undergraduate degree & what we wanted. Laura had excellent suggestions about the colors for the matts and frame choices. It turned out even better than we had hoped. Our son was impressed! I also had Rick’s frame a picture of our grandchildren for my wife. That choice also turned put even better than I had planned. She is really pleased.
