I would like to update my review on Richmond SPCA. After a bad experience, I decided to give them another chance and try them out again. I checked two kittens I was interested in, and they were extremely helpful. The man who helped me was named Jeff, I hope that everyone gets to see this review to see how awesome his customer service was. Answered all my worries and questions, and in the end, they told me I would not need to pay for my two new kittens because they are sorry that my mother's old cat Badoon died. I felt like they do in fact care for customer service, otherwise they wouldn't do such a thing. Jeff was the star of the show, and now I have Najm and Qamar (Star, and moon). I will be going back soon again for another kitten for my mother too!.
Absolutely terrible service, I cannot recommend this place to anyone.
I adopted a cat from them to give to my mom. Last week he got sick with urinary blockage (apparently a common thing with male cats right now). We called scpa they said they can help at their own clinic. When I spoke to their clinic they said they can't help since it's an emergency. Spca told me they would adopt him back and cure him and we can take him back. Waited, me and my family called daily for answers. They were supposed to call us back and they never did, whenever we'd call them they'd just say they'll call us back. No matter how urgent we sounded, and worried. On Sunday morning, my mom's cat passed away after having a painful screaming session, he put his head on her lap and passed away. So I blame scpa fully for his death, I'm never going back there again. They let us down so bad when they could have cured him the first time we spoke to them a week ago.
Badoon the orange cat is now dead thanks to scpa. My whole family is deeply affected by his passing. I attached a picture of him for memory.

Amazing staff! went looking for adoption options , we met this beautiful kitten named All-Star (renamed to halo) the guy who attended was super kind and talkative, explained everything we needed to know, the kitten is healthy and living her best life. If you planning to adopt go here they’re the best!

All of the animals were well cared for. They had clean pens,air-conditioning and their nails were neatly trimmed. They were very up-to-date on each dog's temperament and very helpful.

Mostly a nice place, but the person we talked to at the front desk pretty well talked us out of adopting from here. We went to the other rescue place down the road and got our sweet boy, River.

I recommend the RVA SPCA for any adoptions besides dog adoptions.
Here’s why: they no longer temperament-test their dogs with cats. This practice is detrimental to the dogs, as some of them may be cat-friendly, but since a lot of people who are looking for a dog to adopt have cats, some may choose to not do so. This causes dogs who ARE cat-friendly to be passed over and to just remain at the facility with little to no interest.
On an unrelated note, please be more observant of the dogs in the kennels who have collars or vests on. Seeing multiple dogs almost rip off their own dewclaws from trying to get them free is incredibly concerning.

A very nice place. I only wish I had a fince in yard for this boy.
