Arrived in Richmond on time but wasn’t able to get a car for a hour (even with a week prior reservation). Once I paid, I had to wait another 30 minutes in the garage for my car. Staff were apologetic but that’s not their fault. Need to have the cars rented out arrive back on time. Get onto your customers about this. Also the cars need to be taken better care of. Some stains on the seats and wiper blades falling apart (which didn’t help since it was raining these last few days). Blue Honda Civic.

Worst customer service ever. They don't honor a same day reservation and will tell you they don't have a car while giving out cars. The only response any question you ask will be call customer service. They will not assist with refunding when they "don't have a car" that they allowed you to book. Pay the extra elsewhere to actually get a car and a decent human! Also, this same counter services Avis and Budget. All sister companies.

Be sure to take a picture of the gas tank on pickup and at drop off I was charge $55 for gas when I return the car with the same amount of gas.

Worst experience i ever had renting a car I paid for a midsize suv and received an outlander sport. The vehicle is extremely small inside with limited cargo space. A regular outlander would have been fine however the sport is a compact suv and is not mid size. A Nissan rouge or Hyundai Santa Fe would have been better.

A friend of mine got pulled over with guns aimed at her and her husband bc this terrible rental company was too lazy or incompetent to take their rental car off the stolen car list with the police. It was absolutely terrifying bc they could have been shot to death at any moment for not understanding conflicting commands from officers.

Do not even consider renting from Dollar rental car company at Richmond International Airport! They are absolutely terrible. When we arrived at the airport, there was no one at the ticket counter to assist us. We had to wait in a long line without any help, and eventually, we were directed to the Hertz line since there was no one available to work for Dollar. On the second day of our rental, we needed a tow truck to bring the car back to the airport. They promised it would only take an hour, but we ended up waiting for over four hours in the dark with children.To make matters worse, they have the audacity to charge me $100 per day for the time they have had the vehicle since Saturday. I have been unable to contact them to discuss this ridiculous charge. There is no way to reach this location! It's as if they have vanished into thin air. Corporate has sent emails and they don't respond!! Even corporate doesn't have a way to reach them via phone. They keep charging my credit card without providing any explanation. It is evident that they are trying to scam people with their shady practices.Save yourself the hassle and steer clear of this deceitful company at all costs. I cannot stress this enough. Avoid Dollar rental car out of Richmond International airport unless you want to be ripped off and treated poorly. Trust me, you will thank me later.

Flight arrived shortly after 1PM and got to the kiosk. When I asked for a car seat rental as well I had to wait almost an hour because staff didn't know the proper code to add the car seat to the rental. I had to wait for the next shift to arrive before anyone could figure out how to add the seat. Otherwise, no problems, please have staff properly trained on the Payless portal.

Do not rent a car in Richmond, VA! I had to wait 2 hours for a vehicle! I was told the economy car I reserved was not clean and had to wait. It shouldn't take 2 hours to clean a car!! We ended up with an upgrade, but it shouldn't have taken that long. Makes no sense.

Rented a car for our Williamsburg vacation and arrived at Richmond Airport around 2:30PM on a Tuesday. We found the rental car area but had trouble finding the small Payless Rental Car sign. There was no one at the desk. The only desk that had agents manning it was the Avis Desk, and it had about 15 people in front of us. We decided to bite the bullet to stand in line and hope that the Avis agent could direct us to the payless personnel. Fortunately, the Avis agent said that they were sister companies, and that Avis could help us with a Payless rental. There should have been a sign at the payless desk to indicate this. And why would the Payless counter be empty at 2:30 in the afternoon? The Avis agent was gracious enough to give us a free upgrade on the rental car. We proceeded to the upper part of the parking deck and again, there is not a separate Payless agent in the area. You go to the Avis desk to get the keys to your Payless rental car. The car was clean, new, and full of gas, so no complaints there. The return of the car was swift and efficient as there was a person at the Payless lane who processed us quickly. The experience was okay, it would have been better if the Payless booth had been manned, or at least if there had been a sign pointing us to go to Avis.

Picked up the rental with 3/4 of a tank of gas and still had to return it full with no compensation. Not sure if you've seen inflation or gas prices lately. P.s. it smelt like cigarettes in the car, not that I care but I didn't care to smell it.
