I have been working with George Garner and his team for several years and couldn't be more pleased with their service, knowledge, and commitment to the customer. They are a rarity in the world of CPAs where you the customer are more important than the fees you pay them.

Regretfully, I need to give an unacceptable rating. After meeting twice with the agency owner, my return was referred without my knowledge to an associate I had not met, and was not given the correct information. My records from the previous year were held by them resulting in my not having the proper voucher to be able to pay the final estimated tax. This resulted in a fine. The preparer had not received the correct information from the owner and when I picked up my return, there were errors. It was not corrected in time, which resulted in my taxes being paid late. The day I did pick up the corrected return, I was told the computers "were down", the CPA was on the phone with a client in South America, and that he was confused regarding my return. I'm so sorry to post a negative return, but I would not go back to this office.

UPDATE I've moved to 3 different states since Garner first did my taxes. I'm updating my previous 5 star review to reinforce it. If you are like me and just want to upload your documents and not be bothered non stop or sit in an office for 30 mins while someone preps them silently, just call these folks. I have enough to think about and I don't want to worry or micromanage my tax side of things. I'm simply not an expert and never will be in this area. They've done my taxes (which are quite in depth) for 4 of the last 5 years. I only skipped a year because I thought I should find someone local to me and came racing back. Wherever you live, however easy or difficult your filings are. Just call them. They have an online portal where you can just quickly upload your documents. It takes mere minutes. I want to add one more thing. I recently moved across country and had a tragedy happen where all of my belongings were destroyed in a fire in the moving truck. No taxes weren't the first thing on my mind, this firm reminds, contacts and follows up with YOU. They should be charging for their secretarial level of follow up. It's like having your own personal accountant. I know it's another glowing review but I assure you I have no relationship with any of the folks that work there other than being my trusted tax professionals. You can pay for the cheaper TurboTax or h&r block "pros" but you get what you pay for here. An extra level of service that is unrivaled

The most responsive tax firm I have ever dealt with. Always professional, and always a "can-do" attitude. Even after I moved 7 states away I chose to keep my taxes within Garner, Adams. This year I had a particularly difficult tax return to prepare. With one week's notice, they jumped all over them. They have an easy to use portal to upload your documents and respond quickly with questions or document requests.Don't bother anywhere else, whether you live in Virginia or elsewhere to bring your tax returns or questions to George and his firm.All of the CPAs working in the office are equally capable, and you can tell they hire the best people. Chris Douglas, Stacy Cooper, George Garner , doesn't matter. Be prepared to be treated without stress that your filings are being handled the right way. Beyond that, even the front desk person I dealt with 3 years ago is still there and remembers my name and everything about my life. This is truly a shining star business. You can tell they treat their employees well just based on the way their employees treat their customers.I could never imagine a better experience going through, what is often, a stressful exercise. Knock out 5 star service.

A person who is their own accountant has a fool for a client. I was that fool! George Garner and his team helped us recoup thousands of dollars in depreciation that we had overlooked after several years of doing our own taxes. They also helped us untangle a property inheritance mess in another state. I cannot say enough nice things about the Garner team. They are extremely knowledgeable, prompt, and easy to work with. We will NEVER take our taxes anywhere else!
