They are extremely difficult to get a hold of, even if it's just a call back to schedule a simple appointment. I've been a couple times but at this point it's not worth my time or energy to continue to go here, I'll find another Dr in my network

Dr Masters told me ** I am not going to spend an hour figuring out your immunizations** . What kind of physician tells that to their patients. She falsified on my medical records that my papers didn’t have column for labs which they do. I work in healthcare myself and patient experience is what we strive for. I am now ending my relationship with Dr. Masters as primary care physician and will not recommend her to anyone seeking compassionate and affirmative care.
Nursing and front desk staff had been phenomenal and I will miss them. Shout out to lab staff, who made my blood draws very comfortable each time.

I have been a patient of Dr. Turner’s for several years now. I really enjoy his overall positive attitude, sense of humor, down-to-Earth approach, and how much he clearly cares. The office staff is always professional, helpful, and prompt in resolving issues.

I have been a patient here for over 15 years. I average several appointments a year and have never once experienced any of the problems these 1 star reviews are claiming. The front desk staff has always been polite and professional, both in person and on the phone; the nursing staff has always been helpful, from appointment scheduling to paperwork; the lab techs have always been great. My doctor has always provided sound medical advice and exceptional care from routine appointments to more serious issues.
I referred numerous friends and family to this practice and they are all happy with the care received.

The care I receive from the Doctor is great; however, the support received from auxiliary staff leaves a bit to be desired.
Updated comments:
I am quite surprised that an employee from this practice would publicly comment in attempt to make a patient look bad, especially after leaving a good rating and an objective comment based on the 10 years I have been a patient at this practice. I did not reference details from the handful of poor experiences I’ve had here with different individuals as not every experience has been bad. The excellent care from the doctor has kept me coming back all these years; however, the comments from this employee only further add to my negative experiences with the support staff.

I have been an extremely happy patient of this practice for many many years. It is so very effortless to schedule an appointment with Dr. Masters and communicating with her assistant, LaTicia, is the absolute BEST!!! I have not ever been to a practice where the experience, from beginning to end, is positive from the reception staff, LaTicia's expert communication, personality, and professionalism, and Dr. Masters' insight, patience, and compassionate care. Even the lab personnel should be commended for their outstanding service. My daughter, a junior in college, is also a patient of this practice and travels back home for her appointments. If you are looking for excellent care, service, and professionalism, then, this is your place!!!

I’ve always had a good experience with the nurses here hence the extra star.
My recent visit for a simple blood redraw was marred by the unprofessional conduct of the lab technician of the day. She was rude, easily frustrated, incompetent and attempted to send me on a wild goose chase bc she didn’t know what to do. Yup, she tried to get me to do part of her job for her. This resulted in an unnecessarily prolonged wait and a lot of confusion and frustration on my end. It took an hour of my time just to do a quick blood redraw. I cannot understand how something so simple could turn so frustrating. I give her a 0/10

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS PRACTICE!!!!!!
Good luck getting through to the referral coordinator named Nikki!!!
My wife has had to cancel several appointments with her Physical Therapist and other specialty providers due to the lack of professionalism with this place. If you need care, especially if you need a referral, BE WARNED!!!

I’m leaving a review here today in hopes my positive review and personal experiences can help balance out some of the other negative reviews I’ve seen. Not to discredit anyone else’s individual experience, but so far I only have positive things to say about my experience at this practice, with the staff and with PA Sherrier.
I relocated back to RVA last fall and desperately needed a new primary care provider. I’m so happy to be able to go somewhere in RVA city (where I live) versus having to drive far out to the suburbs just to find a provider accepting new patients (called VCU and they have a 6 month or more waitlist…). When I called to make my appointment the soonest availability was with PA Sherrier so I accepted that, given that I’ve had good primary care experiences with other PAs in the past.
I just had my second appointment today with PA Sherrier (a full annual physical, as my first appt in December was a routine new patient appointment), and at both visits she has been kind, attentive, and personal. Honestly we may have done the full physical on the first visit but I had already eaten lunch that day and before the physical was referred to a pulmonologist to evaluate the current status of my asthma. I also would have had my physical appointment sooner after the first visit, if not for the fact I had to move it two times not to the fault of the practice but due to my daughter being sick and needing to stay home to care for her.
Today I arrived about 15 minutes early for my 1:30pm appointment and received a friendly greeting from the receptionist; I was the only one in the waiting room at the time. I was brought back just before 1:30pm, seen right away by the nurse and then PA Sherrier for my exam, got blood drawn for standard labs, and then was out of there all before 2pm. Yes, the facility is a bit older and outdated, but I found the exam room to be clean and things organized/uncluttered. So far I’m a satisfied patient.

Dr. Erin Masters excellent care very fast response time returning calls refilling meds and scheduling appointments. Waiting room is large, comfortable furniture and the best part, no TV blasting in your face. Unlike almost everywhere else waiting room is nice and quiet.

I have been helping my brother, a veteran to take better care of his health and he suffers from ptsd. We have been pleased up until today. I was asking for information, a list of physicians he was being referred to as he's currently in Ireland that his PA was kind enough to make and leave for him to pick up. I went through the automated system and picked the line for referrals hoping that the list could be emailed to me so I could make the appointment for him once he returned. However the gatekeeper Nikki informed me they do not email and firstly SHE was not the person I had previously spoken to. Nikki chastised me bc I used the word "you" and corrected me several times "I" did not speak to you "I" do not know what you are talking about and it is your (my) responsibility to keep up with names and who was helping me bc as previously stated it was not her. She did not offer any help because again, I should have names and I should not have used the personal pronoun "You" because she interpreted it as specifically her. I am publicly apologizing for using the word you as in referencing the office, not meaning specifically Ms. Nikki as she took great offense. I have been properly demeaned by her scathing tone and attitude by not being prepared and having the utter audacity to assume someone that picks up the referral line could help me. I will admit I could not handle anymore of Nikki's lecturing so I did just hang up before I forgot my manners. So beware make sure you get everyone's name and what they did so Nikki doesn't have to offer any assistance.

Unprofessional, aloof, scatterbrained and uninformative when it came to scheduling an appointment and taking my information as a new patient via phone. After asking if I needed to complete a new patient form, or if there would be an email confirming my appointment with Grove Ave Primary Care, I was never made aware to arrive 15 mins early for my first appointment, and when asked if there would be any communication or appointment confirmation e-mail provided from their end they chuckled and said, we don't do that here.
I arrived at my scheduled appointment time and was greeted by a fully checked-out receptionist. She was too busy catching up on the newest Tik Tok's to even acknowledge me or offer a hello. It was around this time, and the first time I was informed that policy needed me to arrive 15 minutes early to my appointment as a new patient and because I was "Late" I would need to reschedule. Super frustrating! I wish I had known this earlier. Now as I stood in the waiting room, faced with a receptionist who could give a rip I weighed the options. I could prove a point and say, "no thanks" and leave. Only to undergo the headache and misery of trying to connect with a new PCP as a new patient or bite the bullet and just reschedule. I rescheduled... only because I was able to be seen three days later. I can tell this place is going to be a horrible place to be a patient, and based on the other countless reviews the doctors don't seem much better. I'll be attending my appointment but will be looking for another PCP in the meantime.

I started going here years ago because my family recommend the practice. I never really need a doctor so I haven't been since 2018. I went with a medical issue that I was very concerned about and needed a PCP to help me with. Doctor didn't even look at my medical records, didn't know what medications I was on, and didn't take any blood work. I was told to come back in a few months. No way will I go back to a doctor that will not even look at my records or take any samples so when I do follow up we have some data for change. I had already gone to Patient First so I do have an issue, if he had looked at the information sent over to him he would have known that. The unfortunate part is it takes month and months to get a PCP.
