Ive lived here for almost two years now, Matenance is great they are quick too...the elevator sometimes goes down but they will have someone controlling the service elevator to accomodate people.but thats expected of an old building. Karen is such an understanding and caring landlord...she knows and remembers whats going on in everyones lives and i really appreciate that...as someone with autism i really like that karen keeps us updated on the elevator schedule and whats going on in and around the building...i give this place a 5 cause the apartments are spacious and beautiful...i try to keep my space clean and ive not had any problems with mice or bugs......Thanks Chesterfield.

I have 2 VCU students : 1 son currently in a 1 bedroom apartment, and another just signed a lease to move into an apartment starting fall 2024. I have had nothing but a great experience with Karen (on site management) throughout the whole process from application, lease signing and moving in. Karen was and continues to be extremely responsive to any questions that I may throw at her,.. She's very personable, fun to chat with, and always a big help. The apartment location couldn't be more perfect for VCU students. Both my sons agree. Laundry facilities located within the building, and all utilities included is such a convenience. Love the old architecture and the overall character of The Chesterfield! So glad this place had availability when my sons needed to move to off campus housing.

The building itself has a fantastic location, very kind staff, and a cool vibe to it. However, the passenger elevator is a SERIOUS issue. I moved in in December (it's currently August) and it's been down a good 75% of the time. I live on the 7th floor and have some pretty serious knee issues. It'll be down for 2 months, then be working for 2 days to a week, then be down for another 2 months. Although I truly enjoy the manager, freight elevator operator, and maintence men (who are kind people), I just feel like there is more that can be done besides these constant bandaid fixes. Clearly there's a larger issue if the thing won't stay running for more than a week.

This place is where people go when they need somewhere to move in fast. WAY OVERPRICED, but they’ll move you in quick. Still, after living here for nearly 2 years, I’ve enjoyed my time. However, the elevator is CONSTANTLY breaking. If you live on a higher floor or just want to do your laundry, that gets annoying fast.Almost all the apartments have no living room/central space & really small kitchens. Just keep that in mind. It’s hard to have friends over at times. AND NO PARKING!A lot of places have problems with bugs, so make sure your roomate is a clean person! It’s seriously getting way overpriced for no amenities! There are places with so much more to offer at a much lower price.Maintenance and Alan (who runs the freight elevator) are amazing. Just my honest opinion of living here!

Hostile, sarcastic staff.I had a sewage leak down the center of my bedroom ceiling they did not fix.The water heater was broken for a few months straight.Trapped twice in the elevator, once for 40 minutes. They attempted to charge me thousands of dollars on-top of my deposit upon moving out, $100 for “dirty bathroom mirror” etcI’ve lived in about 9 apartments and this is the only place that has given me gruff, been the material for all of my nightmares. When you respond to this, I want to reiterate to you and everyone else that youre not to be trusted, you need repercussions for what you’ve done. I hope your landlords are as bad to you as you’ve been to so many(I reviewed the correct property, 900 w Franklin, Richmond Virginia. Chesterfield apartments managed by Landmark)

I had my apartment tour yesterday and this place is so cute! The property manger, Karen, has been nothing but respectful and so so SO sweet oh my goodness. She is a person who does not like to beat around the bush or try to sell you something just to make money. She is honest, upfront (in a respectful way), and transparent. I’ve heard from a lot of upper class-men (I’m a freshmen) that this place is not good and only good for the price. Well in my opinion, this place has character! I like that old historic Richmond look. Also the fact it’s right in the middle of everything….. amazing! Not going to lie even if I don’t live here I’m still going to go to Karen’s office cause I love talking to her ?

Not a bad place if you excuse an elevator that's been down for a month, 2 out of 5 washers (for the whole building) being out of order, and laundry payment that works only 1/3 of the time. I don't mind paying for laundry but when I have to reinsert my card 4 times and wait 2 mins each time for it to authorize it can get very frustrating. As for the elevator, management is trying and offers trash pick up frequently. Still is horrible hiking up and down more than 4 flights every night. Will update my review when this place proves itself worthy of a better rating.

Perfect location for anyone attending VCU as you can walk to the main library in 3 minutes. Great apartment with stunning views. Wonderful management that really cares about it's tenants. My son stayed there for a year before the pandemic and is returning after a year of absence to resume his studies. He could not be happier!

I cannot speak to the actual living experience of the Chesterfield Apartments as I have just signed my lease. However, I want to say that the communication has been amazing thus far. Dillon Holdridge helped me out via phone many times and was able to enthusiastically answer all my questions. I definitely feel like my time with the Chesterfield Apartments are off to a good start thanks to him.

This is the worst place ever! The place didn’t have any smoke alarms! Didn’t know until there was an incident in another apartment. The refrig and stove are from the 1970’s! The pics on line are NOT an accurate depiction of the apartments! The elevator is constantly getting stuck! They will find any reason to obtain more money too! Horrible!
