There is a Publix Grocery Store, and other national retail chains are starting to in-fill around it. Although the tenants are not in the spirit of the local retailers that make Carytown both beloved and well known, they are important for the retail tax base of the city, and unlikely to compete with any existing small businesses. An attempt has clearly been made to keep the architectural profile of the Cary St side as consistent with the small retail vibe as possible, whether this will actually translate in the long term remains to be seen. There is plenty of off street parking, but the larger shopping area is still in the construction/development phase, so be aware that it's not quite a finished product.
