Repulsive, rude, and alcoholic staff. Should’ve listened to the other 30 reviews saying the same before I wasted my time.

We JUST picked up the car from Bruce’s in Henrico County, an insurance job.
I have mixed feelings. It appears that the area requiring body work as per the estimate and ONLY the area specified was repaired.
However …
I’m accustomed to body shops taking pride in their work, not only their workmanship.
Presentation is everything!
The person who brought the car up for delivery and handoff to us was not in the least interested in customer satisfaction, in OUR satisfaction, but only in standing there asking if everything was OK with the clear expectation that we should take the car and be on our way.
When asked about delivering the car nice and clean, he indicated they do not wash the cars nor is any other cleanup performed.
Why not??! They just don’t. His abject indifference was off-putting regardless of their policy.
Presentation matters. Presentation IS everything.
Off we went.
The next night we decided to go out. I discovered that the new headlight did not turn on. Well, that’s not good. It is not only unsafe to drive a one-eyed car, it is also not legal.
I took the car back to Bruce’s the next morning. The same man who was so unhelpful the day before came out to find why I had returned. I said that the headlight they replaced was dead.
He said that it worked when I tested it the day before. He was mistaken as I never tried it. I focused on the cosmetics. Yet he insisted I had tried the headlight. My wife confirmed that the headlights were NOT tested when we picked up the car.
He asked a technician who had worked on the car about the headlight operation. It seemed that they had some difficulty with it during the repair. The igniter that controlled the lighting of the light was intermittently actuating. All I knew and cared about was that I had to return. Things happen and I accepted that this was an odd situation. What would be done?
It was explained to me that the insurance company would have to be contacted for approval of a supplement, a claim after the fact. And how long would that take for such an approval? I couldn’t safely or confidently drive at night until the headlight was operational.
A positive relationship was established. The mood was calm. We had bonded.
Not to bore you with the details, I was about to leave when he asked that I edit this review to reflect a positive experience. I said that I would consider his request. REVIEWS MATTER!
Regardless, the car would have to be brought back for a THIRD TIME.
Let me back up in this saga. This fellow recalled to me my frustration at not remembering how to get the air conditioning to work. True. At that point I had not moved here and did not remember. Why am I mentioning this?
It is because this man said that I lost my temper and acted in a hostile manner. I apologized and had not realized or recognized that I was perceived as not acting gentlemanly.
And then he went on to say that my wife had surreptitiously apologized to him for my behavior the day before. My wife said this was a fabrication.
Curiouser and curiouser!
Moving forward, I was told that a new headlight igniter would be ordered and would be installed once the insurance company approved this supplement.
The approval came and I waited during the repair. The headlight assembly had cracked upon reinstallation. A FOURTH TRIP WOULD BE REQUIRED.
My wife took the car in for this repair. It was done correctly.
BUT I noticed that the replaced headlight pattern was lower than the right. They had not aimed it. Not trusting them were I to go back for correction, I had it checked at the AAA shop. Sure enough, it was wrong, so I paid $90 to fix it. It

Recently had my car fixed her after an insurance claim. It took 3 weeks for a mediocre (and that’s being generous) job that really should have taken a week. The first time we picked up the car the back panel color did not match the other paint used so we asked them to fix it, second time we pick it up the back panel was fixed but then the back door paint was all smudged and we had 2 new small dents in the car, so we had to leave the car a THIRD time. Then, we finally get it back and the car has a strong acetone-like smell inside of the car, it’s been a week and the smell still lingers in the car. Overall, it was a very poor experience and the shop manager was quite rude when we were upset (which was rightfully so, we did just have to leave our car for 3 weeks and pay an $100 extra in rental car fee’s due to the job taking so long). It’s probably the worst customer service experience I’ve faced so far in my life and I’m a pretty understanding person but this was just an overall ridiculous experience.

Called thinking this was the auto store in Mechanicsville. The woman on the phone said: "honey, you've got the wrong location."I don't handle patronizing very well and I am not your honey. Yes, I had the wrong location but I didn't need to feel insulted.
