This place is always amazing and their products are so fresh I’ve had their meat raw (carpaccio) before with no problems. Someone posted a “gotcha pic” of what looks like a huge order of thanksgiving or Christmas turkeys just getting ready to be put on their massive outdoor smoker. If Carl knew anything he’d know they do massive food prep like this around the holidays and those birds probably went on the smoke about a minute later. They have to be put somewhere before they go on and I’m sure it was cold enough outside to prevent problems. Think before you post and try to ruin a reputation of a good business.

I removed a HOTTUB for a customer of mine a few months ago and she was telling me all about her Butcher shop, well tho it was sometime later, me and my brother stopped in today.. and let me tell you!!!!
Literally the best quality of meat I’ve ever stumbled upon, price is unbelievably perfect for all cuts, selection is great, butchers are friendly and happy to help… I will be a weekly customer for life, my brother too, hell im telling everyone about this place… Little store but it’s perfect!

New to VA and was in Richmond for the day. Was looking for a butcher and was not disappointed. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The gentleman that helped me was very nice and very knowledgeable about the meats. He sliced my pork chops just how I wanted. Was my first time but definitely not my last time. We even had a short convo about sneakers as he complimented the ones I was wearing

Store opens at 9:30. Arrived at 9:30 and the door was locked. Four employees inside, stood there for two minutes, knocked, no one came to open the door or even turned around.
Edit to respond to the reply. Stood there until 9:32. There was no meeting going on.

My family gets a prime rib every year for Christmas dinner. We normally get one from Harris Teeter but decided to try Belmont Butchery as it came highly recommended. From start to finish the experience we had with Belmont Butchery was beyond satisfactory. We called and ordered a prime rib for pickup three days before Christmas and got a reminder call before the pickup date as well. On the day of pickup the Butchery was very busy but we were able to get our meat expeditiously as we had ordered ahead. The best part- it was cheaper than expected! (Less than $300 and was for 8 people) The prime rib was the best one we have ever had! Everyone said it was the best prime rib they’ve ever eaten and was extremely happy about it. I will defiantly continue getting prime rib and other meats from this butchery and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone

I began a tradition of making them for my beloved Darla, my joyous and sweet Cairn Shih Tzu, many years ago. I don't eat meat so looking for marrow bones was always a "hope that the grocery store might have some" frozen kind of situation. So come Christmas Eve I can't find any and my heart plummets. My partner says (from Pittsburgh, mind you) "What about that butcher on Belmont." I had never been but how grateful they exist! The place beams with pride and good service. So one phone call later - they happen to be closing soon but would stay a bit if I could get there soon - and I have two FRESH marrow bones- a first , just for Darla. I keep this tradition alive because she will always be my baby though she passed over in 2021. Breaking down at the register with my bundle of emotions, Joshua comforted me and sympathized. And gifted me these two marrow bones for her on the house. I can speak to the quality of customer service and what are the best looking bones my baby ever had. If you need to keep traditions alive this is a place you can count on. Many many thanks. ????? ❤️

Loved this place. Worse still— I trusted the place. Disappointed and disgusted confirming the egregious food safety incident that took place.
I want to find an appropriate excuse for the business to make it all melt away. But there just isn’t one.
Never returning.
