This feedback is more for Bellhop overall, not specifically the Richmond group. My move went smoothly, with a couple damages, but that happens. I was surprised to find that I was charged before the move occurred. I was told I would be charged afterwards. Additionally, they charged me an additional $550 over the estimate. Both the load and unload teams fell within the 4 hour window, so I'm not sure why I was charged more. I tried calling and was not given an explanation. I was told someone would call me back with more information. It has been 48 hours and I have not heard back. I'll be surprised if anyone actually calls me.Edit: I was refunded the $550.

Great team. Took direction well. Brought good ideas for placing items in home. Punctual. Worked efficiently. Best move I have ever had. Great quality for the money. Would e again in the future if needed.

Need to edit my original review after receiving our moving truck.While the Bellhop guys were nice and efficient, their lack of strategy and care ruined or damaged almost all furniture in the truck and several other items.When they arrived we realized we would need shrink wrap. I left to go purchase some but realized upon receiving our truck that they had started loading nice, important furniture without it. I get it if they needed to make the most of time but this is something that should have been asked. I also told them there were several things I was still working on boxing up and they could get started on the other things, but I found several individual items just thrown into the truck that they didn’t wait for.Also as others have stated, they placed light things on bottom with large heavy things on top. Many boxes are crushed and my electric lift desk base is completely ruined because they loaded it right side up AND stacked very heavy rubber horse stall mats on top. Shelves had heavy dumbbells from our gym placed inside of them, I’m assuming with the thought to keep things stable and held down, but shelves in a bouncy truck with weight on them did not fare well. The weights completely buckled the shelves and then wedged themselves between other shelves next to them essentially locking things together and making it extra hard to unload.Bellhop does warn that mover-only moves (without a truck rental) do not provide any tools or even dollies, so definitely be prepared to spend a fortune on blankets, wrap, renting a dolly, etc. that you will need. In the future I will only ever use them again for smaller moves; a larger move would recommend a more professional, full service option.The guys were nice and hardworking, but they didn’t seem to know what they were doing as far as loading and strategically planning. Wish I would have supervised more closely. I definitely regret it.

We used bellhop for an interstate move into a new build. They promised that our stuff would remain on one truck the entire time. Our stuff arrived with water damage. It was not raining on either loading or unloading day. Boxes of clothes and a large screen tv were ruined. They smashed a giant hole in our drywall and knocked our stairwell banister loose. They refused finish reassembling our kids crib and twin beds because 'they guys had already clocked out' when they realized they'd forgotten. Months later and lots of phone calls and emails later and I have yet to receive any compensation or help. So disappointed.

We booked moving labor with Bellhop for Sunday, April 9, but they ended up rescheduling us for Monday, April 10. Our arrival window was from 2:00–2:30 PM. 2:30 came and went with no word from the movers. Called customer service (we didn’t even have the local movers’ contact info at this point) and waited another 15 mins to talk to someone. Turns out one of the guys who was assigned to our job was injured and they were trying to find someone else, but we had no idea what was happening and there was absolutely no communication from the Bellhop team. I understand that things happen and I know it was out of their control, but they should have called us to let us know what was going on. Instead they just left us hanging with no clue what was going on until WE called THEM. This was our first time booking with Bellhop, and it really left a bad taste in our mouth. I would not recommend this company based on their responsiveness.

This company is run by children. I had an appointment and they sent one guy without any tools and a truck to move a whole apartment. And we called back the second day to reschedule and the sent three people without a truck. How can you move a whole apartment without a truck let bellhop explain it to you. I have delayed the new renters for the new apartment and the property management charge me 300 everyday for waiting for bellhop this is the most intense and insulting thing ever happened to me. DO NOT use them because what I have been through with bellhop. Go with a reputable local company that you know not from online.

The guys were great. They completed our in-house move in under an hour. Had they both been here on time (one was 45 minutes late) I would have given them a five. I gave them both a cash tip.

We used Bellhop several times for a recent local move: a couple guys to load and unload a POD, and then a team with a truck for the final move. Everybody who helped us was courteous, professional, and experienced. They showed up on time and accomplished the tasks quickly. The truck move was challenging and they made our variety of stuff fit in the truck. Communication was perfect every step of the way. Tim was a very capable lead. Would use again.

The absolutely loved my crew, Javin, Angel & John. They were so nice & friendly. On time, very efficient & hustled while also being very careful with all my items. I highly recommend this crew via Bellhop!

I was going to give them 5 stars originally because the movers were great. On time and precise. But I needed more time and talked to someone to add a day on and when we got to the next day they called and said they couldn't come and didn't let the movers know because the movers contacted me later and I had to let the movers know that I had it canceled because I was told they couldn't come. Thank God I had someone come who could help me that day.

Ok this is now the third time I’ve tried to use bell hops. The first time they showed up with 5 guys worked quickly and efficiently and got finished early. Second time, they were supposed to show up with 5 and showed up with 2 and weren’t able to complete the job for some clients of mine. Now day three, for me, they were supposed to have 2 guys and my truck. Only 1 showed up. Not helpful when you have couches and large tables to move. This might as well have been no guys. 1 guy can’t lift a couch. They also aren’t answering the phone. I’ve been on hold for 10 minutes now and doubt anyone is even in the office. So there is no way to fix it. I will never recommend them or try to use them again. Reliability is key and they don’t have it. Stay away!To add insult to injury they also charged me "the minimum" of $119 for 2 hours with one guy when most of that 2 hours was spent waiting around for guy two to not show up. The reality is they don't pay their movers enough money so they have no real incentive to show up and do a good job. I would not recommend hiring this company for anything. Even their own employees said don't hire them. That's saying something. As I said before, stay away. Hire real movers.

Aaron along with Bryce, Mayowa and Shedrick were organized, polite, friendly, and arrived early. You could tell this crew was very experienced. They moved quickly and deliberately. Our move was completed in less time than expected saving us a bunch! We’ve already recommended to others and would definitely use again! Thanks Bellhop!

Our first experience with Bellhops exceeded expectations. Tim and Alex were skilled in loading our POD efficiently, and they were fast. Will definitely use the service again.Additional psoting: So far we have worked with Bellhop three times. Mohammed, Bryce, Tim, and Ryan all were professional, careful, and efficient.

I've used bellhop moving twice for moves from one-bedroom apartments in RVA. They are always punctual and communicate well ahead of the service so that I am confident they are attentive to my needs. The most recent team, which included Javin, Tavarus, Mike, and Desean, took great care of my items and moved everything very quickly! They all had a great attitude and were very professional. The truck driver from M&M enterprise of VA was amazingly helpful as well when I was unloading the truck at its destination. They went above and beyond to assist in the moving of items so that it could all be finished quickly on that rainy day. I would recommend bellhop movers to anyone and hope to use them again in the future!

I am so glad I chose bellhop. My team was excellent and made it such a great experience. The guys were super friendly and professional. They did not waste any time and got it done and done fast. Not to mention it was snowing. They thought of things I did not and made suggestions to protect my furniture. From the time they got there they took care of everything. They were even patient while I had to wait at the leasing office to get the keys to my new place. I am so thankful for the young men that helped me and truly appreciate all their hard work.
