If you are going with a group, buy your tickets in advance. If not, depending on the timer of year, maybe call in advance and check. We went at around 3:30 and got the last tour of the day, the last tour was at 4 so we got to spend a lot of time with our guide. Normally the tour is only 45 minutes to an hour.... We lucked out. Excellent guide, very informative, even our guys who weren't really interested in going really enjoyed it and were happy that we stopped. I'd say it's a once in a lifetime thing, but I was here as a child about 45 years ago and have been wanting to come again for years.... Finally made it. Yay ? Thanks for making my childhood dreams a reality again. ❤️

Stepping into the Shenandoah Caverns is like entering another world, a world sculpted by time and dripping water. The caverns are a wonderland of natural formations, with towering stalactites reaching down like icy fingers and delicate stalagmites rising up to meet them in a silent dance.Breathtaking beauty: The caverns are home to a stunning array of formations, from delicate flowstone draperies to massive columns and shimmering pools. Be prepared to be awestruck by the sheer scale and majesty of nature's handiwork.Informative tours: The knowledgeable guides will lead you through the caverns, pointing out interesting formations and sharing stories about the cave's history and geology. You'll learn about the millions of years it took for these formations to create and the unique ecosystem that thrives within the cave walls.Easy access: Unlike some caves that require strenuous hikes, the Shenandoah Caverns are easily accessible via a convenient elevator ride. This makes them a great option for families with young children or people with mobility limitations. Here are some additional tips for planning your visit to the Shenandoah Caverns:Purchase your tickets online in advance to avoid waiting in line.Wear comfortable shoes, as there will be some walking involved. The cave temperature is naturally cool, so you may want to bring a light jacket.Photography is allowed in the caverns, so be sure to capture the beauty of this underground wonderland.Overall, the Shenandoah Caverns are a must-see for anyone visiting the Shenandoah Valley. They offer a unique and unforgettable experience that will leave you amazed by the power and beauty of nature.

I love Shenandoah Caverns. Beautiful cave formations, knowledgeable guides, friendly staff and a delightful cafe with locally sourced food. And old-fashioned milkshakes! And additional attractions if you're interested. Not nearly as crowded as Luray and the guides add a lot to the experience. Had a great time with the family. Highly recommend.

I was road tripping and was driving down the highway and found a highway sign this. I decided I needed a break and went. The ladies at the counter were very fun and friendly. Explained the whole process and it went smoothly. We got there at the bottom of the hour unfortunately and had to wait. I really liked how much fun the side room was with the float pieces. The tour was really fun. I'm 6ft so some places were tight but overall I really enjoyed it. The tour guide was a lot of fun. Everything was beautiful and Id check it out again.

Don't miss this one! The caverns are well worth the tour. Patty does an amazing job of expanding on very unique facts of this cavern. Small diner attached has food and beverages for after the tour if we wish. Very well maintained grounds and facilities. Great stop!

We had a nice tour of the beautiful caverns with a knowledgeable guide. It was a nice break on an unseasonably hot day! At the end there is a display with former parade floats.

I had never been to a cavern/cave before, was definitely a very cool and fun experience! Cadence was our tour guide, and she was a hoot! She knew a lot about the caverns, and was very personable, she was cracking jokes with the group, and answering all of our questions to the best of her ability. Whether you’re looking for a fun little date or a simple outing as a family or friends, I highly suggest it!

Another cavern you don’t want to missed visiting the Shenandoah area not too crowded and there is a tour guide who will walk you all to the fascinating view. Best part when she turn off the lights to simulate how dark it is inside the cavern. This has elevator option. This place not too crowded and it is time schedule with tour guide, total time can be 45 mins to walk around. They turn off lights when done to protect so no algae will bloom. Again this is a highly recommended to be added in the bucket list visiting the area.

This Experience is a Must it offers a lot of information and history! And of course science! I went during the afternoon time and there crowds were low. If you love hiking/Exploring this is the place for you! There is so much to see and so much to learn, like how they were formed!Warning: Some of the areas of the tour gets a little tight for taller people. If you do not take the elevator there you have to walk up a lot of stairs and a lot of stairs to go down to the caverns!Hope you Have fun!Approved ✅5/5

We visited five caverns (Luray, Shenandoah, Skyline, Endless, and Grand) as part of our vacation, and these caverns were a hidden gem! They are (in my opinion), second only to Luray Caverns just because Luray is so huge. These caverns are nestled in gently rolling hills, and the complex looks like a small chalet or BNB ready for a relaxing vacation. We were warmly greeted as we entered the building by several workers and found a large room that housed the gift shop and café. Our tour didn’t start right away so we were encouraged to visit the upstairs area that housed the large bears and animatrons. Although somewhat eerie because I have seen far too many horror movies, the displays were well done and punctual as you approached them. The tour itself was entertaining, and that was due to the charming tour guide. The caverns are well lit, have a cool temperature, and had a large variety of stalagmites and stalactites. Overall, this is a great cavern to visit, and you won’t regret checking them out.

Stunningly beautiful, a true natural treasure. Beats out Mammoth Cave for beauty, 10 out of 10. My 6 and 10 year olds were equally impressed!

Tour guide vs signs. I wasn't sure about going to these caverns and having a tour guide, but after our visit, I'm glad we went! The group size was manageable, our guide was excellent and we had a wonderful time.

We visited the place on April 2023, the place surprise me because it has an elevator that takes you down to see the cave. The tour guide told us that this is the only elevator inside a cave in the USA; I went down the 79 steps and went up in the elevator; it was a relief for my painful Knees. The cavern has illuminate and flat trails that are easy to walk on. The lights on the cavern help to enhance the beauty of the stalagmites and stalactites; this formation has several years and create a passage of fantasy and takes you to a magical world underneath the surface. What a view! The humidity is moderate and you can smell the fresh air while enjoying the view. At the end of our tour, we visited main street yesteryear and the American Celebration on Parade; it was interesting seeing the old decorations and figurines that move and dance when you activate the motion switch. The cavern is the most seen in Virginia, I hope that you and your family will visit this enchanting place. One more thing: There is a small playground for the little ones in front of the parking lot.
