Just picked up my 2nd purchase in 6 months from this shop - 1st was a Gretsch Synchromatic Archtop/Electric and today, picked up a Fender SFX II acoustic amp to complement it. I've been shopping at this place for 10 years and their service just keeps getting better. These guys are very knowledgeable and were patient with my acoustic amp learning curve. I strongly recommend them whether you are new to instrumental music or a seasoned pro. Thanks Shamrock team for another great experience!

Very comfortable and friendly music store. Good selection of electric and acoustic guitars with amps. I was surprised by the number of left-handed Fenders. They also carry keyboards, drums, banjos, and other band type instruments. Finally, the offer lessons.

My 6 year old girls have been taking ukulele lessons at Shamrock for over a year and I take both guitar and ukulele lessons. Our experience with Shamrock has been exceptional. The owner, Scott, and lessons director, Jess, are enthusiastic about the lessons program and quick to answer questions and emails. Our teacher l, Mike, is fantastic. He is an absolutely wonderful male role model for my daughters. He has a knack for treating them like human beings and not little girls. He’s currently helping them write their own original songs. Mike is not only teaching them about music and ukulele but also how to be confident and keep trying even when something new looks difficult.

They charged me 50 dollars for a set up just to tell me they couldn’t stop the fret buzzing. They said they could tell me what was wrong when I picked up my guitar. When I went to pick up my guitar my action was a half in off the fret board with my guitar neck max bowed. The guy at the counter said he didn’t know what was wrong with it. Waste of money.

Shamrock is the beating heart of Purcellville. The staff is kind and knowledgeable, and every one of them is ready to help with whatever strange project you bring in. Their whole identity is built on saying yes, building something cool, giving musicians all the help they need to do their thing. They don't pressure, they don't push. They help. Honestly, that the lights are still on in a store like that is amazing. Idealistic shops don't usually last very long, but they're still there, doing things the right way, giving Purcellville something to be proud of.

Shamrock is the best. More than just simply a music store, Scott and the gang are really there for the community.

I live in the area and have been to many local music stores. I have had a great experience with many of them. The people are generally kind, the variety of guitars great, and overall good service. Shamrock - is not one of these stores. I went in, and was not really impressed by the instruments they had, but wasn't going to complain since it is after all a small store. I went into their acoustic room and found a guitar probably worth less than $500 and started playing it. In less than five minutes, an employee came in and asked me if I wanted to buy anything. I told them it was a possibility. The employee said "We want to keep the guitar new, so we can't really have people playing it." I was slightly confused, the guitar probably was not even worth 500 bucks and I had never been told at a guitar store to stop playing. I thought the rule is, you damage a product, you buy it. That is the standard pretty much everywhere. So I went and looked at their electrics, and was disappointed to find exactly zero Gibsons in the whole store. I carefully (as I always do so as not to damage anything) took down a fender Strat (made in Mexico) worth around 800. I plugged it in and played for around 45 seconds and was approached yet again by another employee. He asked me if I wanted to buy anything. I said I probably would not buy anything that day, I was just looking to see if they had anything I was interested in, and if there was I would come back another day. The employee tells me I can't be playing a guitar if I'm not going to buy it. ??? Since when? How do I know if I want to buy it unless I play the frikkin thing? The employee removed the pretty mediocre guitar from my gentle grasp. Again, I have been to many music stores, always treated all the instruments with care, and had never been told to stop playing. Until I went to Shamrock. Next time I need a guitar, I will take my business elsewhere. You should too. P.S. If you aren't big in the music world, you probably won't know this, but music stores pretty much always let you try their guitars unless it it extremely expensive and/or you are an incompetent fool. Nether of these things were the case. This treatment is unusual and unwanted. I have also heard from friends that their lessons are complete crap. I never write reviews unless I have an amazing experience, or a terrible experience. Unfortunately, it was the later. Bottom Line: AVOID THIS STORE!!! If you want to support a local business, I would recommend the Victor Litz Music Center.

Shamrock is a great music shop, with super personable folks there. They have a very nice selection of fender and Gretsch electric guitars, and of course a wide selection of guitars strings and accessories. Definitely worth a visit.

Great Shop with a Great selection of above average beautiful guitars . Rick was very nice , knowledgeable and took time to explain the unique features of my new instrument . He also went the extra mile ordering me a case . I feel like I made a friend more than a purchase . The guitar was spotless & played perfectly . I wish I lived closer , so I could hang out .
