It was amazing. A True Wilderness Retreat in Southwest Virginia
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We Wish we could give more than five stars! Don't let any negative reviews from folks expecting hamburgers at a taco stand sway you. This place offers the true beauty of the Southwest Virginia wilderness, keeping you close to the trails and nature's splendor.
Forget about golf carts and fancy amenities; this is a real cabin experience in the heart of the woods. No maid or chocolates under your pillow, but you won't miss them. The memories and views here are priceless, leaving you more in love with nature than when you arrived.
It's affordable and accessible, though be prepared for some hiking if you're not in fair to great health. If that is the case, there's nothing wrong with an afternoon listening to the plethora of birds sing hands in hands on the porch. Overall, it's a fantastic retreat for anyone wanting to experience the real country charm of this area, coupled with some good old fashioned hospitality.

This location is not for everyone. The area is extremely steep. You have to drive down into the river valley and then up a very steep drive to get to the cabin. Also, the river may impede your ability to come and go if the water rises. We got stuck in our cabin for almost an entire day due to flood waters. Be sure to bring plenty of drinking water and food!! The water in the cabin is not safe for drinking. It’s important to note that not all vehicles could make it up the extremely steep drive and not all people could walk on the steep areas around the property. It’s also important to note that the host may have other events happening at the property that will mean guests do not have access to large areas of the property during their stay. While we were there they were holding a camp for kids from 9 am to 3 pm each day which meant a large area of the property including most of the river access was off limits to us. We were also advised to be sure to be off of the property by 9 am each day if we wanted to go anywhere due to the camp kids being there unless we wanted to be inconvenienced and have to wait to be able to get out.In addition, do not count on the use of golf carts at this location as mentioned in the listing. They did not have any available during our stay. The host has security cameras posted all over the property and made a point of telling us that we were under almost constant surveillance from the moment we set foot on the property. That was extremely unnerving. There is a train track extremely close to the cabin… Literally feet away. Although the train only comes through a couple of times a day, it does come through at night. The noise is extremely loud and the lights from the train shine into some of the windows of the cabin. It woke everyone in our group up each night it came through. The first time it happened at night, it was scary.Bring your own dry firewood and kindling as these are not provided by the host. There is wood available on site but it is stored outdoors. When we tried to have a fire, the wood provided was far too saturated to burn.Overall, a challenging place to stay but worthwhile if you can look past all the many limitations and challenges. Beautiful views. Close river proximity. Large cabin.

Amazing place! We never had a dull moment and the entire place was astonishingly well kept and beautiful. The people were awesome and so service-oriented. The Clinch River is beautiful and so are the mountains. The whole place is run by solar power and almost the entirety of its water is rain water. I highly recommend this for any outdoor enthusiast and am totally stoked about their mission.

Really nice place to camp next to the Clinch River. The only downside was no bathroom or potable water source where we camped. There was one fire pit and picnic table which made it nice. Parking is far away too. You may want to bring a canopy to cover the picnic table. The fishing is excellent. I caught small mouth, small large mouth, red eye, and lots of river redhorse. The kids really likes the place. Everyone caught a fish using worms. They liked the playground equipment. We even saw a Hickory Horned Devil which was a first for me.

Nice place for country events. Walkway down to Clinch River for scenic walk or fishing, two small playgrounds for the kids to enjoy. Good size barn to hold event and there also a large cabin that can be rented.
