I could write a whole thesis on why this Kroger is the worst. I used to help someone who work here. While working I noticed about 30-50% of the employees steal from the franchise worker as well as Kroger itself. The people from nearby neighborhood would come and steal and the management team does nothing to prevent it. To be honest, they seem to be defending them especially when they steal from franchise owner. Every time they got caught stealing they use the race card. Like no I am not following you cause of your race, I am following you because you stole my sushi or my fruit. I heard this Kroger lose about $1 mil in revenue from people stealing and there is no one to blame but management. They allow this to happen under their eyes and do nothing about. They only start implementing security after much complain from franchise owner. Sometimes it almost felt like the manager is cool with all the thief. If you are an honest person and work here for a week, you will cry in anger. The disrespect from the customers who steal from you and the disrespect from the management team siding with the customers without knowing anything is so tiring.

Update (June 2024):
Wow, this place has gone downhill.
Fewer items/variety, especially for produce which often has flies on it.
The store is rundown in general. AC was leaking so someone set a bucket of top of a shelf to catch the drippings. But the bucket was full and overflowing onto merchandise and a big puddle on the floor.
Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc. is now kept in a separate, gated section because they expect you to wait in a separate checkout line & do a whole separate transaction just to pay for those items. They don't make you do that for pharmacy items (like Tylenol or other pills/medications) nor for beer/wine! It makes no sense and the staff are rude about it to boot.
Vegan selection is still decent, but that's literally the only positive here.
Oh, and let's not forget the time another customer yelled at and threatened me and my husband while we were in the checkout line. The staff did nothing except gather around to watch and then treated us like the problem when we complained that no one - not even the security staff or management - had intervened. They didn't even ask the yelling/threatening people to leave the store.
This store is awful. Do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else.

Good selection of vegan grocery items. Has a bar (beer & wine only), a Starbucks, and fresh flowers.

This location customer service is horrible. I preordered a custom cake 48hrs before my child birthday(48+ hours was required to order) and I received a call 24 hours before my child birthday from the store saying they will have to cancel my order due to them not having a decorator. I asked if they could assist me in trying at another location due to their lack of staff and they said no. The lady I talked to had no compassion for the situation and no advice. This was very unfortunate and disappointing to say the least.

I hadn’t been to this location in a month but when I do go there the employees are never rude to me like other comments but I can vouch that the meats are not as fresh as they need to be and the self check outs are always dirty but the one thing stopped me from going so much is the price switches they put it’s 19.99 but it’s 24.99 and by law they have to honor it and they don’t .prices and meats need to be worked on and you never see a mgt there at all

I had a horrible experience at the Portsmouth location. I attempted to use my digital coupon while signed into my account but the bar code would not come up. I tried several times to no avail. I then proceeded to customer unservice and was told there was nothing that could be despite having logged into the account, seeing the clipped digital coupon. The person preceded to explain that they used to be able to fix these types of issues in the store but was told by ????? that they were no longer allowed as there were too many????? $6.00 is not a lot of money but it is the principle that matters to me!!!!!! To be meet with such opposition and attitude was unacceptable so I will be sure to never shop at that location again…….

We shop at the Portsmouth Blvd Krogers in Portsmouth. We regularly receive great customer service. I would like to mention one outstanding employee in the pharmacy. That would be Spencer. He consistently offers whatever help to assist the patients/customers coming to the Kroger pharmacy. Whether it's help with vaccine information, when asked he will assist with providing information about Kroger discounts, or providing professional, compassionate care, no matter the situation. I've observed him provide excellent care consistantly to all the customers he encounters. Also, he is very efficient. He truly needs to be considered for a significant raise.
Thank you Spencer. I refer others to this pharmacy and to Spencer!

Incompetent. Had a clicklist for 5pm, they waited til 450 when I was there already there to pickup order to call and say I could cancel or get order tmrwcuz they were just now picking orders from 2pm. So for 3 hrs they knew they were behind and waited til it said order was ready for pickup and I was there to call. I asked for a manager to call and 2 days later, still no manager call. Incompetent.

This is the absolute worst Kroger I have ever been to. The personnel are rude. I told the person the salmon was supposed to be $19.99 and she took her sweet time to get a price check. She came back and said $24.99 was the price, but I had already walked back over there and taken the picture of the price it was supposed to be and showed her the picture and she rolled her eyes, walked off and started talking to security about something else. If you don’t wanna be there go home. I did not make it scan incorrectly. It’s not that hard to do your job ma’am. Especially when you’re getting paid for it. I recommend going to another Kroger or go across the street to Walmart sad to say.

I was rudely denied entry to Kroger @ 10:47pm, 29APR2024 by a power tripping security guard who falsely claimed that Kroger policy prohibits admitting customers 15 minutes prior to closing. I verified with Kroger customer service that this statement was false. Please address this guard’s negative behavior and misinformation.

Very easy to order online for pickup. I don't typically get fresh vegetables but the few times I did, they picked good ones
