I really enjoy everything about this store, except for the people who work there. I understand it to be a volunteer position. Therefore, I don’t understand why the people who work there are generally unfriendly and unpleasant and, at times, rude & condescending. If they don’t enjoy the volunteering, then why not volunteer someplace that would bring them some fulfillment and joy?
My brother just moved here from out of state. He went to the Poquoson thrift for the first time yesterday. Apparently, he walked in the wrong door, which was not marked by the way, and the gentleman working near the entrance spoke to him VERY curt and unkind. My brother explained that he’d never been there before and didn’t realize there was a specific door to enter, but the rude and condescending gentleman would not cut him any slack and continued to treat him in an unkind manner by virtue of his facial expressions in his body language.
At that point, my brother, let it go and went shopping. As he was perusing, he looks up to see one of the women workers in the aisle with him, not holding back in her disdain towards him by giving my brother a nasty stare down. He said it seemed as though the unkind gentleman had ran to his woman co-worker and told on my brother for going in the wrong door, and now this woman, who also worked there, was now being unkind to him as well.
So my brother left. And he will never be back. This makes me sad because I really love the Poquoson Thrift. Maybe they made it a paid position then there would be people working who know how to treat the patrons as human beings…& show some kindness and respect.

I enjoy thrift shopping because I never know what I'll find. The volunteers are friendly and helpful. There is always a good selection of just about everything and anything you would want. I love going through this shop and always find something of interest. Prices are very reasonable. I no longer work in Poquoson and have moved to Richmond so I don't get to go as frequently as I did. This place is still my favorite thrift store and I sincerely miss going for my weekly shopping trip.

I LOVE thrift stores and have been to most in the area, but I had never been here until yesterday. This one is hands down the best one I've been to. Open, incredibly well organized, not overwhelming, high quality clothes, furniture, books, etc. Prices were phenomenal. I can't wait to come back :)

I gave this long time local thrift shop 5 stars because I can rarely if ever go in here without finding items to buy. *Note that you park and enter in the rear of the building. This thrift shop used to be called Saint Kateri Thrift shop but ownership by the church was relinquished and the parishoners at St Kateri still volunteer to run this establishment. Many volunteers have been dedicated for decades. It was founded decades ago as a food pantry and thrift shop to directly benefit the local community, and it still does. Every penny goes to the community beyond the building expenses. The food pantry is located within but run separately. The prices can be varied from incredibly cheap to a bit higher, and I have purchased items in all price ranges. They have every thing here. Furniture, antiques, knicknacks, kitchen, jewelry, collectibles, books, electronics, frames and wall decor, art and craft supplies, luggage, purses, toys, housewares, baby equipment, shoes and boots, sports equipment, clothes from newborn to plus, men, women, children, new items and used. This is a favorite haunt of resellers. I had my eye on a little $5 child's toy and a regular reseller snatched that up and it is now $40 on FB Marketplace. Tuesday mornings when they open the line is around the corner. It is open an hour before Goodwill so resellers are in and out. I got there on a Wednesday at opening and about 15 people were in line. Today I purchased a large framed folk art print for $6, a pair of boots like new for $5, an American Girl knock off horse trailer for $15, a bath rug for $4 and a Glitter Girl doll for $3. I also got a nice wooden kitchen island chair for $8. There is some consistency in pricing but not always. They are open 3 days a week and will soon open 2 Saturdays a month. This is because they rely completely on volunteers. The ladies in there all have the patience of a saint and if you are a regular you will get to recognize them.I find the store pretty well organized. It is clean and for the most part there is adequate space in the aisles. A few can be a bit tight. Anyway, if you are a thrifter and looking for a place to be surprised with what you might find, you will want to check this out. But if you find something really really good, leave it for me!

I love it here. Great volunteers work in the store, great prices, 2 fitting rooms, so many really nice items. Read their posts on the door for their sales, discounts, & special pricing.I bought several pairs of jeans $1 each! And the brand names of jeans vary widely from Levis & Lee to Hollister & Gap, Old Navy, The Loft, & more!! Their funds go to their food pantry & to help people in the community who need a little financial hand up. A new favorite place for me for sure.

This is the best thrift store I have ever been to. Excellent deals and the staff is generally nice. Though they can get under your skin a bit. They will become testy if you ask them to please not ball up your clothes or correct them on the prices they are charging you. All in all they are volunteers and if anything we who shop there should be very grateful for there efforts !!

In the realm of thrift stores, this one is top notch. There is always plenty of variety and the prices are excellent. Sometimes they even have a sale (like 40% off on electronics or $5 for a bag of clothes). Be sure to check for discount signs on the door when you walk in.This is where I drop off my donations AND where I scoop up plenty of bargains. There is also a fairly quick turnover of goods, so be sure and visit often.
