Beware paying cash in the visitor parking garage. I gave them a $20 bill. Received what appeared to be $12 change in bills back. Went to use the bills after I left- one of the $5 had the security strip removed, and one of the $1 bills was completely ripped and not whole. Neither bill was accepted at the vendor I went to afterwards. I believe the attendant purposely gave me these illegal bills, and pocketed the rest. I was out $6 out of the $12 I received in change. I only parked in this garage after my rental vehicle was vandalized and broken into in the employee lot. I am livid.

Honestly, worst experience of my life. Medical students and Nurses accused me of faking my seizures. Had to drive 3 hours to a REAL hospital that took me seriously. I reported the staff. Terrible people. I would use cuss words but I don’t think that’s appropriate but all of them can go hell. Also, I was there 3 or 4 times for my seizures. Always accused of being faked soooo yeah. Not a one time thing.

Signage and parking are BEYOND RIDICULOUS and incomplete! First 3 LEVELS of the parking garage are MOSTLY EMPTY and demand a sticker for parking. That's not even the worst part! It feels like a MILE WALK from the parking garage to the, not exactly properly labeled (YET AGAIN), ER entrance. Not to mention, AFTER SAID WALK, you finally get to the EMERGENCY ROOM and the idiot pencil neck, stick boy with a gun wants to wand you down AND THEN KICK YOU OUT for a measley little pocket knife!! Claiming "it's on the sign" - AT THE ER FRONT DOOR!!! ***NOT*** at the MILE AWAY PARKING GARAGE!!! Like, HELLO, DUH?!!!!!I wasted 45 minutes just finding a parking spot, hobbling WITH A DISLOCATED KNEE, to the NOT SO WELL MARKED "ER ENTRANCE", only to be KICKED OUT OF AN "EMERGENCY" ROOM because of a TEENY, WEENY POCKET KNIFE!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!Their BEYOND OVERPRICED CHARGES are certainly NOT going to the CONVENIENCE of staff parking OR PATIENTS IN EMERGENT NEED OF CARE!!!I WILL ***NEVER*** use sentara OR ANY branch of it whatsoever!!!I even had a car stop and ask me "WHERE'S THE PATIENT PARKING" because THAT'S just how INCONVENIENT AND UNHELPFUL their money goes!Money isn't going where it deserves. They're worse than today's HOA rules and THAT'S saying something!!!You idiots REALLY THINK a little knife could do more damage than AN EMPTY SYRINGE???? EVERY DRAWER HAS THOSE AVAILABLE, YOU STUPID PRETENTIOUS ????????!!!!

This Sentara hospital, particularly the Kaufman unit, is WORSE than a nursing home! Despite my mother-in-law's inability to move independently and multiple falls during her hospital stay, Dr. Aleti attempted to discharge her. Even though she has dementia and other health issues, a second-year resident, Rizwan, suggested she could determine her safety to go home, contradicting the psych evaluation indicating she couldn't determine her health goals. For the sake of your loved ones, consider seeking care elsewhere, as patient safety and advocacy seem nonexistent here. And yes, I contacted the patient advocate and it was a waste of time and effort.

My experience at this hospital was horrifying, I came in after being in a car accident. My belongings were removed by staff.I asked them to give me my purse so I could put my earrings away really quick, the staff insisted that they would put it away for me. I asked the staff to please bring my purse closer to me. They refused. Felt like they were blocking my view while they were in my purse. After I went for X-rays I looked in my purse, and my money was gone! I called spoke to a patient advocate. The advocate said they were reviewing the tapes. The Advocate said to me that they would be cooperative with the police if I want to file charges. The police detective stopped by to investigate the incident but. The hospital erased the footage after 2 weeks, Someone please contact me. Im furious! You will not get away with taking my money. If anyone knows a good lawyer that they can recommend. PLEASE contact me.UPDATE: They recently sent me a letter saying there are no cameras in the trauma Er.,How convenient. And .., the advocate that I spoke with previously told me that they were checking the cameras . They are trying to cover up theft at that hospital. They should be ashamed of themselves. Someone should come Forward and return my belongings. Why would they do that to me while I'm down and out. These days if you have a emergency and you have anything of value. Please try to hide it or give it to a family member. Im just so upset! Sentara needs to do right by me. THATS MY RETIREMENT MONEY.

If I could give a 0 I would!!! Admitted on 2/22/24 from beginning to end horrendous experience. Came in at around 11 am waiting every minute for everything. Never have I ever been administrated Pain meds thru IV in a waiting area!! Then told that they have no beds to put me in. Finally they tell me they can put me in a bed but I'll be in a hallway until a room opens up. I agreed was put in a hallway at 230pm waited for 2 hours for them to tell me they had a room for me. Took me up to med surge around 4pm just to have me lay in a hallway it's now 1053 and still no room!! Ive watched as EMS cleaned a room and sat vacant for hours. Charge nurse told me that room is for someone else. When your a patient in pain and nauseous all you want is peace and quiet. Music blarring bright lights and loud conversations is not what you want to hear!! Absolutely theworst experience I've had in a hospital!! Norfolk General you should be ashamed of yourself for this type of treatment! Like I said if I could give this hospital 00 stars I would!! ???

The billing department is terrible. They didn’t even try to submit a claim to my health insurance. I’ve had to make all of the calls myself. It’s been a month and a half since my visit. I am still getting billed.

I was transported by EMS and admitted to the trauma unit for 5 days after I fractured my hip. The staff immediately treated my horrible pain and had 2 surgeries. The ER Staff is to be commended for their kindness and sincere professionalism. The same thing goes with the Trauma unit on the 8th floor. From Jackie the housekeeper to the head nurses I given them praise for their superior service especially Sara the floor nurse and Nephrologist team. I thank you very much for your patience and professionalism. Thank you

The Health care is above the Bar across the board. From the emergency room staff, security guards, nurses, nurse managers, cafeteria and therapists and Doctors, the Hospital is hands above the rest.

Nothing but the highest praise for the Short Stay Unit. Natalie, Elysse, Christiana, and Jah were wonderful during my short stay in Sentara. I'm very grateful for all they have done for me.

In short, after spending much time at Sentara with neurology and neuro ophthalmology for not one but two rare conditions, I sought out a second opinion. From there I was told by a Sentara neurosurgeon “I suggest you see your own neurologist” even though they in fact recommended me back to Sentara. I now have had zero communication though I have used the portal to reach out to the sight center who I still see and so forth. I feel black balled by Sentara and was told no one in the area will touch me now because of things documented in my chart by them. I am in a position where I need medical help and can now not receive it because of this. I am disgusted doctors would do this to any patient. I myself work in the healthcare field and would put my job on the line to help a patient if I knew I could and it was the right thing to do. I am disappointed and can only hope that more grace and compassion is shown for future patients while I will have to seek care outside of state lines to ensure I live a life with the highest quality for myself and my family.
