November 2023 by Matthew P.
We came in the day before thanksgiving with 2 kids. The place was packed but staff did a great job keeping up with rentals and orientations. Nick helped us and was very patient with my daughters getting in harnesses and onto the auto belays. They loved it. Everything felt very safe and professional so I didn't have to worry. I loved that. I don't have any standard to compare to but i can't really think of how it could be better.

I’m only giving them one star because the facility is nice.I called the gym today about a charge made to my account that I didn’t make. What I got told is that the PERSON WHO WAS CLIMBING WITH ME who was a. Not on my account, and b. Had their own account with their own means to purchase this item, charged this to me.How, and since when, do companies just allow charges on someone else’s account? Also, when I said that I definitely did not purchase this, they told me that because the product was opened that they couldn’t refund it to me. I contacted my friend, he said the gym offered chalk to him after he scanned his membership card. Which also should have shown that he HAS HIS OWN MEMBERSHIP.Excuse me - how about you correct the fact that one of your employees made an absolutely erroneous charge to my account from someone that I didn’t authorize to be an account user? I do not give any craps what any customer says, you better verify with me on paper or get my signature saying that I authorized something.Check your bank accounts, latitude members.

Latitude is the only climbing gym in the Hampton Roads area which specializes in bouldering at the location in Norfolk. It uses a circuit-grading system where a color represents a range of levels in the V scale (e.g., yellow is V2, V3, or V4). My group went in the morning and paid $18 each for student day passes.Latitude offers a ton of climbing routes (e.g., slab, overhang, comp) that are all fun to try out. The signature structure they have there is The Globe which is a huge spherical bouldering wall that is extremely fun and challenging. It is, by far, the best overhang wall I have ever tried, but it is not for beginners. Most of the other climbing routes offered at Latitude are all fun but not beneficial for climbers looking to improve their technique and skill. While they are all on different terrains, they often end up relying more on fitness (e.g., finger strength) rather than technique (e.g., body position). They can be quite repetitive, and beginners may have difficulty improving in the grades. Despite these criticisms, they are quite accurate with how they grade their routes.Overall, Latitude has great bouldering and offers a ton for the climber in the 757. It has a lot of amenities such as gym equipment, tension board, hangboards, and a ping-pong table--all in a clean and well-kept interior. It has a great community with a dedicated staff, and while it may not have the best bouldering in the world, it's certainly a great gym to check out if you're in the area! Here's how it breaks down to other gyms in VA:BOULDERINGBetter than Triangle Rock Club, Latitiude VB, Rocky Top, and Vertical Rock Tyson'sSimilar to Peak and Movement

The staff were lovely and very helpful to my friends who were new to bouldering. The gym itself has quite a large bouldering area and the route setting is really nice, maybe a bit more slab would be nice. Given the price, this is my favourite bouldering gym in town. The training area is also great. As is the ping pong and Nintendo to mess around with after.

AMENITIES Components of the gym include: 1. Multiple bouldering walls (slab, overhang, top out, comp wall, etc.) via circuit grading 2. Tension board 3. Various hangboards 4. Calisthenics rings 5. Weight room 6. Video game area w/ a ping pong table 7. Gear shop The women's bathroom includes free pads/tampons and has hair ties available as well. ROUTES The routes are based on circuit grading and range various types of climbs (i.e. overhang, slab). There was a good number of climbs for each circuit and a good variety as well (technique-based, dyno-centered, etc.). SERVICE The staff here were very friendly. They introduced us to how the gym worked, how often the routes were reset, etc. It was clear that members who frequented the gym enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. PARKING There is a large lot available with ample parking. There are warning signs to lock your car and bring in valuables likely due to frequent break-ins.

I have a couples membership here with my husband, and we climb here almost every weekend. The staff is super kind and everyone in the gym are always friendly and open for conversation about different routes. There are different routes almost every week, ranging from true beginner to experienced. It's fun for any level of climber!

Nicest bouldering gym in the Hamptom/Virginia beach area. Unfortunately tore my meniscus there but they took immediate care of the situation and helped me so much. Honestly will be a regular once my knee is better!

Okay new favourite spot! First time there and loved every bit of it! Met some really friendly and down to earth people who made me feel at complete comfort, even though I can't remember the last time I broke a sweat and I'm lacking some blessings in the coordination department.Still I had an absolute blast and will definitely be coming back, daily! ?? so stoked about this place and to see my growth as a freshy, new-born climber!

Awesome bouldering gym in Norfolk. Tons of interesting routes at a wide range of skill levels. The attached gym is convenient for a workout in conjunction with your climbs

Great climbing gym! It's clean, well kept, and has plenty of space to climb. Knowledgeable staff who are often interacting with climbers. This gym hosts some fun social climbs too, while still maintaining safety guidelines. They often reset the routes too so you're not likely to get bored. Love this gym!
