This place is a joke. Place a reservation online, stand in line for 30 minutes, finally get to the counter, wait another 30 minutes and they don’t have the truck I reserved (even though there was two of them right outside in the parking lot)This company is hot garbage. They make Uhaul look like they were sent from heaven above.

I had a disappointing experience with Budget Car Rentals. Despite having a reservation, they claimed to have no cars available and notified us at 12 pm for an 8 am pickup. When we tried to change the location, customer service was unhelpful and refused to honor the reservation price. We ultimately canceled and switched to Enterprise, where we received better service with a larger car at a lower cost.Don't use this company, they were very unhelpful, we will not be using them again.

Don't go here. "Reserving" a truck online "does not guarantee a pickup". That's what they said to me. So I don't understand the point of reserving in the first place. It's like that Seinfeld episode "you know how to take the reservation, you just don't know how to hold the reservation"They told me to just go to U-haul. Then afterwards I was charged a No-show fee?? I did show they just didn't have anything to give me. I had to call and was redirected many times just to get my refund ?

Personally, I had a great experience with this business.My flight was cancelled by American Airlines and I had to contemplate driving home because of another engagement I needed to be at for work the next morning.Rafe, at the front desk made the entire process super easy. Allowed us to keep our current rental, rebook and take the car back to NY with no issues, no hidden fees and straight forward answers. He was super insightful and helpful on the phone1010 customer service

We made a reservation with budget truck; get there as soon as they open at 9 am. They inform us their system is down and have us wait 2 hours still no truck contract. We are told the regional scheduling manager will get in contact with us in the next 2 hours. After 2 hours we are never called. We call customer service again and they tell us to call the office to see if their system is back up. The office is closed. We then get in contact with the regional scheduling manager and he tells us that a manual contract could have been written but we were never contacted.at this point we are not able to get a truck anywhere. We don’t live in VA we live in MD and came down here for the sole purpose of packing up our house, so we can put it on the market this week. Not only do we need to go back to MD and come back next weekend but we also have to push back everything with putting our house on the market.

if I,could give zero stars it still would not be enough to describe how bad this service is. First no one was at the budget rental desk on a mid Subday afternoon. Second one was directed to the Avis desk being handled by one,person who was trying as,nicely as she could to handle the work load. needless to say, the only,reason I used Budget was due to work related travel. For one's own sanity, don't try and rent a car from budget at the Norfolk Airport.

I reserved a truck with this company with plenty of time In advance. I missed a call from them the afternoon before my pickup to tell me they didn’t have any trucks and couldn’t help me. I was traveling across country and didn’t get the message and showed up to the pickup location only to be told they have nothing for me any closer than 100 miles away. This company is trash. Go with uhaul, I would rather pay a little more to make my moving experience go smoothly. My whole relocation process has been effected now. Thanks Budget, you really dropped the ball.

I recently rented a car for an entire week Oct. 14 - Oct. 21 from this establishment. I received a total of 3 rentals (2 here and 1 from Richmond airport) and wasted countless hours of my time and frustration on Budget! I HAVE NEVER RECEIVE THIS TYPE OF SERVICE FROM ANY RENTAL CAR COMPANY BEFORE! DO NOT RENT A VEHICLE FROM THEM! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE LIKE ENTERPRISE OR HERTZ THAT DESERVE IT! This was my experience: So I prepaid for my reservation directly from their website. I received my first rental, which had damage to the side of the vehicle (1st picture) and the Bluetooth and USB ports did not work (mind you, the worker at the outside gate where you receive the keys, did not do a walk through). I called reservations and was told that I could exchange the vehicle, which I did, after sitting 20mintues in traffic to go back to the airport and get the second vehicle. I was told by a white gentleman at the AVIS counter that my only options for an exchange was a 2- door pickup truck and another Toyota Corolla. I chose the latter. Only to receive the keys (without a walkthrough again!) to a vehicle that should not have been rented in the first place! This vehicle had scrapes on the outside of the vehicle, it had dust and dirt all around it, so it didn't receive a car wash and someone had smoked inside that vehicle and then Budget tried to mask the smell by spraying a heavy car refresher which made the smell even worse! And I found someone's old apple watch in the trunk! On top of, the window shield wipers were old and needed to be replaced (found that out on Friday Oct. 16 when it was raining). So after receiving a worse option the second time around, I called reservations again and was told to go to another location that would be closer to where I was staying the next day (Thursday). I was told by the representative over the phone they would make notes on my reservation and to make sure I go to the location before 5pm on Thursday, since it was passed 5pm already when they closed. So, here we are Thursday and I get to the Budget location on Mercury Blvd in Hampton, VA around 2 or 2:30pm to be told by a black gentleman that the only vehicle he had available was a Yukon truck that hadn't arrived yet from another customer and I couldn't exchange my car for that one (not like I wanted to anyways) because I didn't pay for that type of vehicle. He didn't ask me for my reservation number or anything, basically he didn't give 2 fucks on my issue. Just kept saying he didn't have anything available. At this moment I am beyond pissed, because not only did this waste my time, but I had to deal with an agent that represents your company that didn't care about my issue. So I called customer service instead of reservations and I asked to speak to a manager/supervisor, only to be told they will give me a call back by the end of the day but what he could do for me was credit me back $50 for the 1 day (Wednesday to Thursday) I had this rental due to the smell. I wont receive the refund until after I return the rental and completed my reservation. I said fine, but I still wanted to exchange this vehicle. So here we are Friday, weather is bad, which is how I found out the window shield wipers were old, I called reservations and explained everything regarding these 2 days I had this rental so the young lady on the phone told me to go to Chesapeake, VA on Battlefield Road to get an exchange. I asked her 3 times are you sure this place has reservations, she said yes! She explained to me when she goes into the system it is showing she can make a reservation, which means they have availability. I said okay, it was 3:30pm and the place closes at 5pm and it was 45mins away, I explained to her I can make it over there in that time frame. It was raining that day and rush hour traffic was about to hit so I hurried across the water to that location. During the time I was on my way there I CALLED 3 TIMES and received no answer just to be sure what I was told by customer service was correct. So

One of the worst experience renting a vehicle. I booked moving truck day prior and when I went to pick up there was no truck for me. What I don’t understand is why provide confirmation number and take credit card information when there is no car to rent.

If I could give this Budget truck rental zero stars, I would. We reserved a moving truck weeks in advance, and my husband even called the day before our pickup to confirm that a truck was available. When we arrived, Raphael could not have been ruder. They didn't have a truck available and he could not have cared less that we were now scrambling to find a moving truck for our 600 mile move. He did not apologize and does not deserve anyone's business. NEVER GO HERE!

Made a reservation two weeks ago to pick up a vehicle here. When I arrived I got the "we don't have any vehicles" comment. O.K. why not? "I don't know." So how about the airport? "We don't have a direct line to the airport counter. Call this 800 customer service number." I called and Customer Service told me there was a vehicle at the airport, but it would cost more money!!!! I get to the Norfolk Airport and two desk clerks with the customer service acumen of the Norview clerk said, "We have no vehicles." But 800 Customer Service Rep. said you did!! "Yeah, that happens all the time." I ended up renting a car from a completely different rental service. I will NEVER EVER rent from Budget / Avis again. One star is too high a rating for this outfit. This company obviously needs the "Trump Treatment" in business management and customer service.

I had a reservation for 530 pm, no cars. How does a company not have cars, when the company is for renting cars? It's not like I just walked up, I had a reservation. I feel bad for the counter attendant who had over a dozen unfilled rentals waiting for cars. Oh and not just 10 minutes, its been 45 with another 45 expected. Update 1: still waiting, it is now 715 pm. There is at least 6 other people in front of me waiting for cars, and a bunch after me. Final update: received a car, 745pm. Plus side, it was a couple classes up from the economy. Probably not on purpose, but I'll take it.
