No PARKING 1st issue......and parking on the Curb side is like playing Rushing Roulette.....and Marco Polo....Your Discovery will be a Ticket because this Gym doesn't have Adequate Parking......it appears they want to Pressure you to Pay for Parking in a Garage Next Door when their Monthly Membership is the Highest Gym Facility in the Hampton Roads Area but can't Provide their patrons with Free Parking ....which means coming here is Gonna COST YOU More Period.Facility : Equipment Adequate....However, the Air Conditioning is Set Polar Ice Caps ....it's Rediculously COLD, I had on Shorts (inside) with a Sweat Shirt and was Soooo uncomfortably Cold I had to Leave to go Layer Up and All I wanted to do was CARDIO.....GEEZE !..... OVER KILL....TIME WAISTED.....Respect :There is ZERO Concern for Other's Concerns ....especially in the REGIMEN Training Area ; They Blast Their MUSIC So Loud it Drounds out Your Headphones and if You're Attempting to do Cardio in the Area you can Forget Hearing Your Own Listening Devices......Hours of Operation........Well let me stop here because..... there are gyms that cost a fraction of .....and below half the cost and offer 24hr access without Extra Cost..... Oh and these Hours Differ From All the Other YMCA establishments in the Hampton Roads Area...... that I don't understand............Frustrating

I have been a member of the YMCA for many years. However, with being an open door member my 1040 was NEVER updated since February of this year. So unfortunately for almost 7 months straight they have been drafting my account an extra 10.00 per month with my normal fee. This is so unfair, because I’m on open doors for an reason. I really wish they can find my 1040 and refund or credit my account with all those unfairly fees. And I went up there numerous of times in February & March of this year asking that certain staff do she update my information, I was told yes & she never did it.

We absolutely love this YMCA!! Lots of variety of equipment, friendly staff, nice hot tub, and amazing stay and play for the kids! I love the area and everything this ymca has to offer. I've been to YMCAs all over the country, and this one just feels like home!

I was visiting the pool today and was scared to get into the water, Louis the lifeguard comforted me and serenaded me with a lullaby, while he held me in the water. He then proceeded to baptize me in the name of the YMCA while singing the song and doing the dance. It was a beautiful and ceremonious ritual, and brought tears to my eyes. This was a 10/10 experience and worth the money. I will come again.

I love this Y. It is the most complete concerning gym equipment. As a patron all is well. However as a employee it was a nightmare. I was hired as a lifeguard the management was a nightmare. Badly organized and condescending management.

My family and I enjoyed the YMCA until yesterday. Scherasade Hose confirmed she cancelled my membership in July since I never used it and informed me I would have one more payment come out at the end of July but she failed to cancel and an unauthorized payment was taken in August. Which I was very understanding about and willing to overlook. The only response she could give was that it'll take 5 business days to get my money back and then she cancelled my child's before and after care without me ever requesting this or discussing it with her. She finally re-registered my child but would not change the payment day back to what it originally was set up as (Fridays), which would cause an additional payment to come out the very next day. She just told me email Sylvia Patterson and refused to reply to my email inquiring why she was not able to assist with correcting another mistake that she created. I emailed Sylvia Patterson while on my way to the YMCA to try to resolve the issue created byScherasade Hose (took maybe 15 mins). As soon as I arrived I briefly explained why I was there and the front desk associate made a comment that she was familiar with the situation and that Scherasade Hose wasn't there (remind you it was during business hours and I never requested to speak to her). I informed her I was not interested in speaking to her but someone else. The front desk associate went down the hall to an office and came out and said nobody was there. As an professional myself I am well aware of the business hours of the YMCA and knew that they were just refusing to come speak to me. I could understand protecting yourself if I was a raging lunatic but I was completely calm and professional. She gave me Sylvia Patterson's business card upon my request, I called her while standing there but did not get an answer but a email within seconds (literally). She refused to change my payment date back to Fridays and said this never was an option, even though I had this arrangement since the pandemic started for E-learning academy, summer camp (twice) and before and after care the previous school year and already confirmed for this upcoming year before Scherasade Hose messed things up once again. Sylvia Patterson is very rude, unprofessional and has no regard for others. I cancelled my child's before and after care on the spot because this would not work for my family (remind you there is only days before school is suppose to start again). I asked for her supervisors information and she did not provide it but only told me via email she'll email the Operations Director herself and that he or she will be back Thursday. Only good comment I can give is that Meg Mras is an amazing person to work with, each time I needed assistance with registering my child for different programs she was very thorough, helpful and quick to respond, Ghent before and after care YMCA staff and Y on Granby staff are absolutely amazing and truly will be missed and also the staff/coaches for soccer. It's a shame how a dedicated customer for years can be treated, I will never use their services again.

This is a great gym, lots of space plenty of equipment, although it gets a bit packed on some week nights with all the classes. The child care team is great, but not reliable lately. During the week, for the most part, there are always care givers in the stay and play and I-zone but weekends, are very unpredictable. Today was the third time this summer that we showed up to the gym and no child care was available because "no one showed up". But during the weekday morning the I-Zone is staffed but goes unused, so the staff just sit on there phone, it just makes me think that person could probably be of better use on the weekends when gym goers are looking for childcare. Other than the uncertainty at the stay and play, this is a great gym! you may just many to call ahead on weekends and holidays to make sure stay and play is actually open if you're someone that needs these services.

Save your money and go to a better gym that is actually open after normal working hours. Plenty of other gyms where classes are included and at a more affordable price.

Called to cancel membership because we moved to northern VA and was told I had to come in. I told them I was not going to drive 3 hours to cancel my membership. A month later they still charged my card. And I was told there is a 30 day cancellation policy. So pretty much I haven't used any of the YMCA services in the last 3 months and we keep getting charged 94$ .. sad.

The lady Sylvia Patterson was very rude on the phone. I had to talk to her about summer camp registration and the way she talked to me on the phone was not nice at all. If you are on lunch break then don’t even answer the phone!!! If you can answer the phone, then please be nice to your customer!!!!!!

Don't get swimming lessons here. I should have been alarmed when they said absolutely no refunds. They told me if I miss a lesson, I will not be able to make it up. However, for my kids very first lesson, we showed up to find that our lesson was cancelled! Nobody told us ahead of time and we went for absolutely no reason. They put a make-up lesson at the end to replace that one. The instructors are nice enough, but my kids are learning nothing at all. Big old waste of money. I could have taught my kids the things that they taught them and I can't even swim... As a matter of fact, I pretty much did teach them myself. I was in the water helping and frankly doing most of the work because there was another kid that was being taught too, but her mother stayed out of the water. The only reason I gave them two stars is because my kids did have fun and the people were nice... Oh yeah! Let me not forget about the parking. My God! They don't even have a parking lot. They have a parking garage which is for members only. Any one else has to park on the street and there are only 1 and 2 hour parking spots. Good luck finding an empty one. I arrived early every time so that I would have enough time to circle the block 30 times until a spot opens up. I'm never ever going there again.

I’ve been a Y member off and on for some time and have always loved going to both Granby and Blocker. Front desk has been always nice and pleasant. Our kiddo goes to both stay-and-play and interactive kid zone and Mr. David and Mr. Muhammad are always super engaging with our kiddo and us! Ms. Jenny and Ms. Felicia are always super kind. The pool staff are wonderful as well. Big shoutout to Ms. Kapili who ALWAYS says hello and makes it apparent to stop and talk to our kiddo. This is what makes our visits to the Y that much more special.

Racquetball is why I joined. I haven’t found it to be so busy when I go that I can’t use the equipment that I want. The place is clean and the employees are nice.
