This was my second visit to this location and I was very disappointed as my last visit a few years back was great. The woman who started my eye assessment was very nice. The eye doctor was also very kind. When I moved over to the retail side to select my frames, it was a definite shift in energy and it was gloomy. I selected my frames and sat down with an associate. She asked if I wanted the same features as my last order. I couldn’t remember what add ons I had or the extra charges and asked her if she could break those down. She never did. I knew that with my insurance I was definitely going o have a $20 copay for materials and I had a $150 allowance toward frames. I selected frames priced at $180 so I knew I was going to be paying at least $50 on this purchase ($20 for the copay and $30 for the overage on the frames). The young woman communicated the my new glasses would cost me $234. She did not provide a full break down. She stated that my lenses were going to cost $75, and that was the only amount she broke down. I asked if I could have a printout to review the cost before purchase and reach out to my insurance carrier with any questions. After several minutes of silence while she typed on her laptop, she stated that she could only get my price as low as $195. Again, no breakdown provided. I didn’t feel comfortable with this sales experience. I work two jobs to pay my way so I want to know exactly what my charges are. I communicated that I was going to pass on glasses today. There was too much of a shady vibe. She asked me if I would be buying new glasses in the near future and I stated that I would not be purchasing them from here. She provided me with a receipt for my $10 copay on my exam and a printout of my Rx. I still don’t know the breakdown on the cost she was quoting me. This is not a good way to conduct business.

Inside Patrick Henry MallHelpful and knowledgeable staff. First I ask about whether they accepted my insurance. Yep! And they accept most. Appointments are required so I wanted a first available. Wow more than a month out. But the staff person suggested I try another of their stores. They would probably be less booked than the mall store.

I had a great experience at MyEyeDr. I went with my daughters and although it was three of us they got us in and seen very quickly. Our exam was fast and efficient. The doctor explained everything thoroughly. Dani was very friendly, helpful, patient, and professional. She made our time there very pleasant. I would definitely recommend.

Great doctor, quick testing. Was in and out in 10 minutes. Unfortunately, the general manager was very pushy with me buying glasses. He must have been a used car salesman in the past. Instead of asking if I would like to purchase glasses today, he said “which frames can I get you today”. I said no thanks that I will purchase them elsewhere. His face went immediately to looking as if his dog had died. He immediately questioned where I would be going to purchase glasses and insisted that MyEyeDr is the only place that you can use VSP. VSP has a reimbursement program that allows you to purchase frames and lens online and get reimbursed based on your plan. I have used this before multiple times. I am sure he is aware of this but he knows that by lying to his customers he can get more commission off of the frame sales. It is unfortunate that what was otherwise a great and quick experience was turned bad at the last minute.

While here I met two really nice employees, Steve and Whitney and they were awesome. Them being so friendly made the exam go by swiftly and smoothly to the point that I did not feel like it was an appointment. I would absolutely recommend a place like this, especially with people like Steve and Whitney, you need to come to this location. Also, their glasses selection is phenomenal and definitely worth the money. Lastly, if you're worried, critical, or suspicious of the virtual eyw exam, don't be. It honestly doesn't feel strange and the doctor was really nice. It really just felt like any other eye exam, plus the virtual could make it easier to gef access to doctors at a faster rate thus making it more accessible to people.

The store located inside Patrick Henry Mall in Newport News VA. It was a nice and clean eyes glasses store. However, the service in this place was slow. Every time I stopped here for my glasses only one worker in the store.

I’ve been using MyEyeDr for years . Usually my daughter gets her exam else where but we get her frames here and have been since her first pair when she was 4. The staff here is so friendly and helpful. My daughter told them what she was looking for and they helped her find the perfect pair. I highly recommend!

Beware!!! I have VSP insurance and was expecting to pay $10 and get my eye exam but I was told I would have to get a retinal exam that was $39 and it would be a total of $49 with VSP. I told them i was under the care of an eye doc and did not need a retinal scan. Was told they would not see me without paying for this extra exam as the retinal exam is a part of their "standard of care." If the retinal exam is mandatory and not covered by any insurance, this should be told prior to me showing up. Wasted my time! Will be getting my exam somewhere else. Don't waste your time if you don't want to pay the extra for a retinal exam.

After moving to Hampton Roads I needed a new eye care professional. I found MyEyeDr at the Patrick Henry mall. They have Saturday hours that works perfectly for me. They have an inhouse optometrist and a large selection of frames. They are very informative and provide a visual breakdown of options and costs. I had to make a couple of adjustments and they staff was always pleasant and helpful.

me and my son had an appointment on 2/18/2023. Michael Wilkins( Manager) I don't know if he gave me the correct name he is the only male I saw on that day with a ponytail told me because I didn't call and confirm my appointment I didn't have one yet I showed him where as of 2/17/2023 @ 8:00am I received a text confirming my appointments he refused to help he didn't offer a solution nothing he acted nonchalant. He kept saying you don't have an appointmen. I have never been treated in this manner. I will not be going back to that location ever!!!! I give this customer service experience a ZERO... he should not be manger if he doesn't know how to or try to resolve any issues or situations...
