First time coming to a Clinic in the Newport News area. I was pleasantly surprised at how welcoming ALL the staff were. How much the Vet Tech's/ Assistance and the Vet were. They truly care about the animals they are helping.
I've had my fair share of Vets & Clinics over the years. This exceeded my expectations. I look forward to continuing my animal(s) care with them while I'm in the area.

Beautiful and clean facility. They took care of our dog as a new patient for urgent care on a Saturday. They were welcoming and took great care to help with our dog. The nurses were amazing as well as the receptionist. I definitely recommend this vet and appreciate that they took us even as a new patient on a weekend!

Dr. Cutler is amazing, she is a true snake whisperer. It’s absolutely fantastic to have an exotic vet of such caliber so close to home. We have the “exotics of the exotic” of the snake world…not your typical pet snakes, and she has never once flinched. Other exotic vets in our area were not comfortable or had no experience with the species we have and before Dr. Cutler was here we had to drive all the way to Richmond or DC to get care for our animals . The front desk staff and the techs are helpful and friendly. This whole hospital is a real gem. They are great about responding to texts and callbacks, and we like the fact that they have stress free environment for the pets.

Friendly to animals, gave me tips on keeping the cat calm. Even let me reschedule for free when the cat wouldn't take her meds prior.

Went in Saturday as an emergency pet visit. The staff was amazing with my cat. He is not a cat that takes to people easily, and even with him not feeling good, he loved on the staff. We definitely found a new vet.

I brought my gecko in today, he needed help with his eyes and weight loss, he wasn't doing good. Everything was pretty ok during the visit, they took him to a different room, cleaned up his eyes and prescribed some critical care nutrition for him, showed me how to do give it to him myself. Right after we left the facility my pet passed away. So I brought the live reptile and paid almost 200$ to have my pet passed away almost right there. I don't think that's the way it should work

Friendly, helpful staff. My puppy actually enjoyed her exam and immunizations! Large exam room with minimal wait time. Minimal contact with other puppy patients kept the environment calm and safe. Glad I found them!

They were the best I could have wished for. They took great care of our rats. If you are looking for a place to take your rats to I highly recommend this place.

I know a lot of people care about their pets, but I'm a little extreme. Chugs, my chihuahua/pug, has never stayed by himself for even 30 minutes. I have a sitter for him any time that I can't be around. He has a bed under my desk and comes to work with me every afternoon. I leave the AC in the truck going for him whenever he goes with me to a place that I can't take him in. I say all of this to give you some kind of idea about how much I care about my baby boy. I have been going to the same vet, whom I really like, for almost 30 years. After having an emergency one Sunday, I went to Kiln Creek Animal Care. From the time I walked in everyone was wonderful. They were very compassionate, respectful, polite, and just super nice. They were expedient and had me feeling better about his condition very quickly. I really felt like I was at the right place, who would be able to deal with Chugs' care in the best way possible. I care greatly about my normal vet, but after losing two of their doctors, things just aren't quite the same. I have been giving a lot of thought about speaking with Kiln Creek about becoming my primary care practice. I was amazed by everyone who was there, and by the way my needs were handled. Thank you Kiln Creek Animal Care!

I have nothing but praise for Kiln Creek Animal Care! The staff is absolutely phenomenal; they are Fear-Free certified and take their time building relationships with each human and dog in their care.
My dog and I had gone through three other veterinary clinics before finding Kiln Creek. Due to previous mishandling and trauma prior to his adoption, my Chihuahua Mix was absolutely petrified of the vet… and the experiences that we had at the other three clinics only worsened his fear. Despite the fact that I had been working on my dog’s Cooperative Care and was diligently attempting to create comfort with handling, the previous vets refused to allow us to implement our Cooperative Care practices in the exam room (It may be worth noting that I am an Accredited Dog Trainer, and I was asking for mild adjustments in order to implement the training we had been doing, which would have significantly reduced my dog’s stress and fear during exams. The previous vets were not open to making adjustments). I reached a breaking point after one particularly traumatizing visit, when three vets pinned my dog to the exam table as he screamed and thrashed in terror, and a fourth administered the vaccines. This awful event consequently undid much of the training and effort that I’d invested into our Cooperative Care protocols, and understandably made my dog even more wary of body handling and husbandry. I left that third clinic and found Kiln Creek shortly after.
From the start, the staff at Kiln Creek have not only been accepting of our Cooperative Care protocols, but also extremely encouraging and involved in these practices. They are flexible with their care and make adjustments that help to reduce my dog’s anxiety (i.e. prescribing situational medication, allowing me to weigh my dog at home instead of in the lobby, sitting on the floor with us instead of using the exam table, reviewing videos that I have taken of my dog’s ears, eyes, and teeth, allowing me to hold him instead of a stranger, etc.). They are highly respectful of the training that I have done with my pup, and will actively practice in the exam room with me, while working at my dog’s pace. They take their time and go the extra mile, and it 1000% pays off.
Just this past Tuesday, we had our first voluntary vaccination.
This was something that had felt utterly impossible just a year ago. Remember when I said it took FOUR vets to vaccinate him at his previous vet, with lots of wailing and gnashing of teeth?
Yeah. On Tuesday, it only took ONE absolutely INCREDIBLE vet tech to vaccinate my dog.
And guess what?
My dog didn’t even flinch.
I was going to tell the whole story, but turns out Google limits how long these reviews can be, so I had to cut back. But basically, the tech (Jacklyn— she was AMAZING), was immediately on board with our normal mat/chin-rest protocol, and she sat on the floor with us for a few minutes to get my dog acclimated. Then, while my dog did the chin rest in my hand, Jacklyn ran through some of the Cooperative Care prep, and within minutes we had a stress-free vaccination. My dog kept his chin in my hand while the tech inserted the syringe. He didn’t even blink!! When I tell you it took everything in me to suppress the scream of unbridled joy, I’m so serious. I was STOKED. And my pup was so freaking chill!!
My dog used to tremble from the moment we set foot in a clinic. He was so terrified that he would refuse his favorite foods— chicken nuggets and french fries were of no interest to him. Ever since switching to Kiln Creek, he doesn’t tremble anymore. He lays on his mat and takes bits of chicken from the staff. I no longer feel anxious about vet visits. The staff at Kiln Creek has created a safe, comforting environment for their clients. They have empowered and supported us in our Cooperative Care journey, and I am beyond grateful for their patience, compassion, and expertise. Thank you, Kiln Creek staff!!! You all make such a positive difference in the lives of pets and their
