I wasn’t going to write this, everyone has an off day, until I saw a review similar to my experience. Two Kay employees at the Patrick Henry Mall location were with customers when I arrived. A customer came in after me and was helped by the gentleman employee when he became available. No big deal, I moved closer to the saleswoman. She was in a lengthy transaction with her customer. There was pleasant chit chat as they conducted business. This was lovely, until progress on the Kay transaction stalled and the focus became the employee’s search for a new home. Two customers had come in, and we all waited patiently. This personal business went on openly for a prolonged period of time without any acknowledgment of the customers waiting. The saleswoman pulled up visuals on an ipad, and they became engrossed in mapping and discussing the location of a possible new home the customer knew had just come on the market. With no progress being made on the already long Kay transaction, I asked if she could please return to the Kay transaction as people were waiting. The saleswoman responded in a scolding, condescending, irritated tone. The kindness and understanding we had shown to her were not reciprocated. Our exchange was brief, in essence she called me a liar, testily repeating that she was indeed conducting the Kay business- that she was indeed not conducting- and would be with me when she was finished. I love Kay jewelers; I have always enjoyed browsing their stores and have always encountered mature, courteous professionals. Kay holds a piece of my heart as my engagement ring and our wedding rings were purchased from Kay 27 years ago. Well, sadly disappointed, this loyal customer walked out and spent $214 on a gift and $449 on a jewelry repair elsewhere.
