Just got stationed here and needed a vehicle to report for work the day after. Came here to pick up the rental car i reserved online. I spent $25 on uber coming here and come to find out they won't let you rent one without a credit card. Had to cancel my booking and ride uber back for another $25. I wish they would advertise that they dont accept debit cards. Waste of time and money

Reserved a car online. The first vehicle they assigned me smelled awful. The staff exchanged it without difficulty, and the new one smells much better. Thank you!

2time coming to this one and no one is ever at the counter when I come there during open hours and have had to wait 30-40mins each time for someone to be at the counter. I recommend leaving a time along the counter when stepping away rather than I sign that says will return shortly… or maybe change the hours of operation as no one seems to ever be around in the mornings when they are open..

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. Rented a vehicle, returned on Nov 28th at 11:00am, checked in and received a receipt as usual. A few hours later I find out that I was charged over $150 for a fabricated fuel charge. The vehicle was sent out on FULL and it was returned on FULL. I submitted a picture of the fuel recipient to management, and I still haven’t heard back from them. Haven’t received an apology or even a comment for someone else’s mistake and at this point I believe it was intentional on the company’s behalf. This is a very dishonorable business practice to increase revenue.I rent vehicles around the year because of business purposes, and have never had this issue. I highly recommend that you don’t do any business with Hertz/Dollar.

Terrible spot to get a rental at if you don’t want to use a credit card. They let you reserve a vehicle and pay for it online with debit card at this location but when you pick it up they won’t let you if don’t have a credit card. Also if you’re trying to get a refund they charge you a fee for “canceling” the reservation. So that’s $100 down the drain for them not be clear from the beginning. Don’t waste your time here.

Worst ever, customer service representative had extra people behind the counter and no one says "I will be with you in a moment, please" just standing and waiting until she's complete and off of the phones, yes two different phones. Once she's over with the phone calls, still no acknowledgement of the customer, continued to wait for her to begin and finish yet another task. This went on for several minutes. I wouldn't recommend this place to my enemies and no one else for that matter.

Talk about a waste of time!!!! And no where near convenient or courteous. I made a reservation two days before needing to rent, I get a call at 520 pm the night before i need to rent to inform me that there are no cars available! Not leaving time to even rent from somewhere else. When I ask for a solution was told there is a car in Norfolk but can't be got because of the driver left 30 mins prior to the call. With this service you should call with solutions not problems. Will never use again and will pass the word not to. Oh and he had the audacity to have a attitude with me. Great way to run a business. Would leave no stars if possible.

I would give Hertz NO STARS if I could. We reserved a car in February 2020 for a trip in September 2020. We were to pick the car up at Newport News Airport at 6:00 pm. Our connecting flights was late from Charlotte. I called Hertz to inform them we would be arriving around 8:00 pm. "No problem". When we arrived there was no one at the Hertz rental desk. Apparently, they closed at 6:00 pm. No information available about who to call or even a phone number, not even on our reservation. Fortunately for us, Avis/Budget agent was working, put us in the kind of car we wanted (AWD), and matched Hertz' cost. Needless to say, we won't be using Hertz again and will definitely be using Avis/Budget from here on. Great customer service.We're back from our trip now 10 days later and have received no communication at all from Hertz. Never again. Would not recommend.

Not a great experience at all. We wish we never rented our hire car from Hertz. First car had a lacerated rear tire. A life-threatening oversight. Second car was infested with COCKROACHES but the guy at the desk in Newport News airport a) refused to replace the car at the same grade as the Ford Explorer were were returning, b) refused to listen to the voicemail from Hertz customer services who were trying to contact him, c) refused to look up our case number to understand what problems were had experienced so far, d) when she left the desk he openly blamed his 'inexperienced colleague who would be in trouble from her manager' when she kindly set about resolving these issues e) twice started serving other customers whilst we were trying to explain our issues f) did not once apologise and g) was frankly downright rude from the outset. Not impressed. I just hope our third car in the space of 9 days is safe and clean!
