On Sunday, April 14th at around 7:33 PM, I accepted a DoorDash order consisting of 60+ items from Aldi, located at 11975 Jefferson Ave, Newport News, VA 23606. Despite my initial reluctance due to the store's impending closing time at 8:00 PM, I proceeded to fulfill the order diligently. By 7:58 PM, I had obtained approximately 97% of the items.
However, I encountered multiple issues during my time at the store. Firstly, the manager approached me in a very unprofessional manner, instructing me to finish quickly without even a greeting herself. Moreover, while I was still searching for the remaining items, the manager began closing down sections of the store without considering my need for assistance. Despite my polite inquiry about the location of an item, her response was quite rude, dismissive and very unhelpful.
As someone with extensive experience in customer service, I understand the importance of providing assistance and maintaining professionalism, which she did not display, especially towards customers still present past closing time. Instead, the manager, identified as Deanna, exhibited rude behavior and failed to offer any assistance in locating the remaining items. Her conduct not only hindered my efficiency but also reflected poorly on the store's commitment to customer service.
I believe that in such situations, employees should prioritize assisting customers to ensure a positive experience, even if it means staying later than the scheduled closing time. Unfortunately, Deanna's actions fell short of this expectation, leaving me feeling frustrated and undervalued as a customer.
In conclusion, I urge management to address this matter promptly and provide appropriate training to staff members regarding customer service etiquette and assistance protocols, particularly during closing hours. Failure to address such issues may result in a decline in customer satisfaction and loyalty towards the store. I ended up leaving the store at about 8:10-8:12 PM.

Aldi’s is great! You can never go wrong here and even though they may not have as wide of variety as the larger retail stores, their prices are unbeatable!

If you are shopping for yourself, this is a solid store. If you are ordering delivery OR curbside pickup, even if you do it through their site directly, they will fufill the order with instacart. There is almost no accountability if they mess up your order, and unlike ordering directly through instacart, you cannot provide feedback about your specific shopper's performance. Anytime I have to order from here, half my order gets refunded right before they check out just so that they don't have to clear the changes with me, and it's honestly making me look at other places to buy from.

This is a good store. It's clean and organized. You can't get everything here, but you can definitely prepare nutritious meals for your family on a budget. Their produce and meat are fresh and priced right. That is awesome. The staff is helpful and friendly. All in all, I recommend Aldi.Note: To maintain their low prices, Aldi does not provide free shopping bags, and you need a quarter to rent a shopping cart. The quarter is returned when you are done.
