A gift shop with a large selection of interesting gifts. It's pricey, but worth looking around even if you don't buy anything.

The gift shops at the mansion and estate of George Washington is big and sells an extensive variety of souvenirs and gifts, ranging from magnets to household items.
Yes it’s slightly expensive which is typical of gift shops but you would appreciate that the entire property is owned and run by a non-profit organisation and gets no support from the government.

Thanks to Susan V and the team at the Shops at Mount Vernon for helping my wife and son order replacement hats for what he lost on the way home from a school trip to DC! I heard that my son was really upset that he lost a present for me and they worked with Susan to buy some new ones.
I was so surprised to get a hat from my son with the MV logo on it.. I went to Mount Vernon High School but in NY not Virginia. Looking into the history it seems it was named as Wikepedia states:
"Mount Vernon takes its name from George Washington's Mount Vernon plantation in Virginia, much as neighboring Wakefield (in the Bronx) was named for the Virginia plantation where Washington was born."
Its amazing how we all can keep learning things even at my seasoned age! Thanks again Susan!

So much stuff in the gift shops. It's a little pricey but not unexpected. They have everything from toys and clothes to wall portraits, home furnishings, coins and whiskey. It can take a while to see it all if you look at it all. Just don't take your drinks in

Basic historical gift shop. However, the clothes are actually very cute. They aren’t basic tourist gift shop clothes with cringy labels. I would definitely buy the sweatshirts the next time I visit!

To me it's not worth it visiting. The gift shop stuff they sell is junk in my opinion.

A lovely gift shop located outside the entrance to the Mount Vernon Estate. The gift shop is located on the grounds of Mount Vernon, George Washington's historic estate, situated in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. You can reach the estate by driving south on the George Washington Memorial Parkway about 4 miles from Alexandria. The drive is a nice 2 lane road along the west side of the Potomac. There is a limited parking lot near the entrance and usually is not full. If it is full you may have to park in the nearby parking lots and walk a fair distance. There is no cost to enter or visit the gift shop which is located to the right (or shout) when facing the entrance. The shop offers a wide variety of souvenirs, books, and gifts related to George Washington, Mount Vernon, and the history of the United States. There are actually 3 very different areas in the building. There are gift shops to the right and left of the entrance and a food court a little farther into the structure. The space is clean and well-organized space with plenty of natural light. The shop is staffed by friendly and knowledgeable employees who can provide information about the history of Mount Vernon and the products for sale. Overall, the gift shop at Mount Vernon is a great place to pick up souvenirs and gifts related to the history of George Washington and the United States. With a wide variety of items available at a range of prices, there's something for everyone here. Note to any future traveler, do not visit on President's day as it is free admission and can be very crowded both on the road and all over the estate.
